BEASLEY, DR. WALLACE M. Jr., 62, of Savannah, died March 5, 1999 at his residence. He was born in Savannah, GA., and attended Armstrong Atlantic State University, Georgia Southern College and Oglethorpe University. He received a Master of Arts Degree in Philosophy and a Doctorate Degree in English Education from the University of Tennessee. He was a member of the Georgia Poetry Society and had several poems and short articles published. He was a member of the Georgia Philosophical Association. He taught at different Colleges and Universities in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia. For the past 10 years, he had taught English and Philosophy at Armstrong Atlantic State University. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Satterfield-Beasley, Savannah, GA.; daughter, Celeste Cooper of Knoxville, Tennessee; son, Jody Beasley of Springfield, Virginia; step-daughter, Michelle Cutillo of Sarasota, Fla.; father, Wallace M. Beasley Sr., of Savannah, GA,; sister, MaryAnn Beasley, Savannah, Ga.; 1 grandson and 4 nieces. BURCHETT, HAROLD RAYMOND, age 77, of Morristown, passed away Monday, March 8, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was retired from Roadway Express, also served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline Burchett and parents, Charles I. and Lucy Mae Burchett; brother, James Burchett and sister, Edith Williams. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Peggy Burchett; grandchildren, Angelia, Melissa, Michael and Stephanie, of Morristown; half-sister, Marilyn Myers of Rogersville; half-brothers, Paul, Neslie and Oscar Crockett of IN., and Ralph Crockett of VA.; sister-in-law, Bertha Burchett. WACHTEL, MARY ALLENE, age 82, of Bean Station, passed away Monday, March 8, 1999 at her home. She was born in Staunton, VA., Mary Wachtel was President of Kingswood, a Christian Children’s Home. She became president after the death of her beloved husband, John P. Wachel. “Miss Mary” and “Mr. John” worked with the founder, Dr. A.E. Wachtel, serving the needs of children, in his area, for over 60 years. Kingswood was “Ms. Mary’s Life.” She was a devoted Christian, who loved her work with hundreds of boys and girls who were helped at Kingswood. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Myrtle Pelt; her husband, John P. Wachtel, former president of Kingswood School; two sons, John E. Wachtel and Phillip A. Wachtel; a brother, T.W. Pelt; a grandson, Richard D. Ray and a son-in-law, John R. Ray and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn M. Copeland. Survivors: daughters, Villa M. Ray of Tampa, Fl., Joan A,. Denton and husband, J. P. Denton of Morristown; sister, Dorothy M. Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucy McManaway; brothers, H.B. and Walter McManaway. Survivors are husband, James E. BEWLEY, LONA, age 90, of Russellville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 25th at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was born on January 9, 1909 in Pardee, Virginia. She was a charter member and one of the founders of the Russellville Church of God. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph D. Bewley; son, R.C. Lipton and grandson, Scot Westmoreland. Survivors; sons, Rev. R.B. Bewley of Tullahoma, Bob Bewley of Rogersville, Jack Bewley of Russellville, Don Bewley of Whitesburg, J.R. Bewley of Morristown; daughters, Louise Walker of Russellville, Betty Jones and Patsy Johnson of Morristown; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Creech Jr., of LaFollette, TN; sister, Dorothy Benton of KY.; several nieces and nephews.
