COILE, MARTHA LOU, age 67, of Jefferson City, passed away 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at home following an extended illness. She was a member of the Hebron Presbyterian Church and had served as Sunday School teacher, pianist, and Elder. She retired from a distinguished public school teaching career in 1993 after having taught in Jefferson County and Morristown City School Systems for 40 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Maryville College in 1953 and Masters’ and EDS degrees from the University of Tennessee in 1974. She was a member of various organizations to include the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association, American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma- an honorary society for teachers. Survivors include her brother and niece, Robert and Julianne Coile of Jefferson City; brother and sister-in-law, John Nance Coile and Claudine Coile of Tullahoma, TN.; nieces, Nancee Coile Collins of Ringgold, GA., and Joan Coile of Tullahoma, TN., Mrs. Deloris West, a steadfast caregiver of New Market, TN., and College classmate and long-time friend, Dr. Mary Jo Pribble of Hendersonville, N.C. Funeral services to be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 1999 from the Hebron Presbyterian Church with Dr. R.R. Turner officiating and Dr. Mary Jo Pribble offering the eulogy. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before funeral services. Interment services will immediately follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hebron Church Cemetery Association, 550 Coile Rd., Jefferson City, TN., 37760. The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 26, 1999, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home, 411 W. DAVIDSON, WILLIAM “BILL,” age 53 of Tazewell was born Feb. 1, 1946, passed away on Feb. 24, 1999 at home. He professed faith in Christ at an early age. Preceded in death by his father, Chester Davidson; grandparents, Charlie and Laura Davidson and Tyler Barnard. Survived by wife; Carolyn Brewer Davidson; son Jason Davidson; daughters, Ashley Davidson, Sonya Rouse; three grandchildren, Ariel, Amanda and Rhiannon Rouse; mother, Sallie Davidson, all of Tazewell; grandmother, Bessie Barnard of New Tazewell; aunts, Cleo Reed of Tazewell, Peggy Seals of Monroe, MI., Bessie Reece and Edith Smith, both of Tazewell; uncle, Ben Davidson of Wilmington, N.C.,; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel, Tazewell with Rev. Lonnie Douglas Dalton officiating. Interment in Barnard Cemetery. MATTOX, AUDREY, 49, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 1999, at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. survived by daughter, Tammy Ballinger of New Market; sons, Gary Tyler of Blaine, Dale Collins of New Market; 3 grandchildren; sister, Anna Lee Shock of IND.; brothers, Richard Cram of Jefferson City, John Mattox of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. Special friend, Sharon K. Condry of Jefferson City. Funeral service 8 p.m. Saturday at Fielden Chapel with Rev. Russell Webster officiating. Interment 2 p.m. Sunday at Mills Springs Cemetery. MOODY, DARIS LOUISE SMITH, age 68, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999 at Life Care Center of Morristown following an extended illness. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Retired from BASF Corp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Moody; parents, Henry and Mae Smith; sister, Doreen Yarbrough; half-sisters, Gladys Haley and Alma Ison. Survived by half-brother, Lawrence Smith of Sebring, Fl.; sister, Frances Cureton of Talbott; sisters and brothers-in-law, Henri Mae and Fred Bishop of Morristown , June and L.J. Bishop of Jefferson City, brothers and sisters-in-law, Marshel and Evelyn Smith of Jefferson City, Barney and Betty Smith of Talbott; several nieces and nephews. OLIVER, ROBERT E., age 66, born November 24, 1932 of 2180 South 8th St., West Des Moines, IA., passed away Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at Marcy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines from complications of diabetes. He was born in Morristown and lived in Des Moines for 31 years. Preceded in death by parents, D.T. and Anna (Smith) Oliver. He was a retired Systems Analyst and a Marine veteran of the Koran War. Survivors: wife, Marilyn Oliver, West Des Moines, IA.; son, Michael and Fran Oliver, Des Moines, IA.; son, Stephen and Annie Oliver, Des Moines, IA.; sister, Betty Lutz, White Pine, TN.; brother, Thomas Oliver, Chula Vista, CA.; sister, Pat Rose, Morristown, TN.; grandson, Anthony Oliver, Des Moines, IA.; grandson, Nicolas Oliver, Des Moines, IA. RIDDLE, NELLIE, age 83, of Columbia. S.C., formerly of Morristown, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 1999. Survivors: children, Gary Riddle, Elizabethton, Jerry Riddle, Johnson City, Susie Booth and Faye Depew, Morristown; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. SEBASTIAN, WILLIAM PATRICK, age 69, of Morristown, formerly of Middletown, OH., passed away February 24, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. He served in the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Clarence and Nellie Marie Sebastian of Ohio; brothers, Infant Dale Sebastian and Herbert Sebastian of OH. Survivors: wife, Charlotte Sebastian of Morristown; daughters and sons-in-law, Cherylann and Mike Gilmore of Ohio, Gayle and Daren Young of Morristown; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Carol Sebastian of OH., Tracy and Jennifer Sebastian of Morristown, Kelly and Kami Sebastian of Morristown, Chris and Dixie Phillips of AL.; grandchildren, Kristen and Christopher Gilmore of OH., Chelsea and Chase Young of Morristown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Shirley Sebastian, Paul and Teresa Sebastian of FL., Rev. TATE, MS. ALBERTA PHILLIPS, age 89, born August 24, 1917, formerly of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999 in Linden, N.J Preceded in death by her parents, Charlies and Callie Phillips; brother, Alfronzo Phillips. Survivors: sons, Buddy Davis and Milton Berry; daughters, Vivian Davis and Janice Berry, all of New Jersey; sister, Jeraldine Shelton;. step-sisters, Virginia Greenlee and Roberta Kelly of Morristown; brothers, Charles Phillips and Rev. Thomas Phillips (T.P.) and step-brother, William Armstrong, all of Morristown. ASBURY, MR. VAUGHN HERSHEL, SR., age 72, of New Tazewell, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 1999 at Claiborne County Hospital. Family received friends 7-9 Tuesday and Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home, Tazewell. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, Coffey F.H. Chapel, Tazewell. Burial in the Wells Cemetery. JACK, (JOHN, JR.,) was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle. He was loyal and generous. He had honor. He had a talent for friendship and for listening. He served in the “Blue Devils” the 88th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and saw action in Italy. Born in Chicago, November 8, 1921 to Nancy and John Sr., Jack died February 9th due to complications from gall bladder surgery. He joins his only brother Bill who died 25 years ago this February 18th. Jack attended St. Leo’s High School in Detroit and the University of Detroit. Jack was married to Evelyn, a piano teacher and musician. They lived in Farmington Hills and were married 25 years. His only child Danny is in the kitchen remodeling business and lives with his wife, Yvonne Strand. Jack’s extended family of nieces and nephews and in-laws numbers over one hundred. He also has an inner circle of friends who have been family to him for many years. Jack served as Vice President of Purchasing at Lear Corporation from 1974 to 1987. He volunteered as a tutor for the Literacy Council for the past 3 years He was a man for all seasons- he dabbled in water color, was writing his World War II memoirs, spoke Spanish, was a consummate host and chef and recently began exploring the Internet. He will live on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. Visitation was Thursday, February 11th from 4-9 p.m. and Friday, February 12th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at O’Brien Chapel. Ted C. RAMSEY, CLYDE, age 63, of Veedersburg, Indiana, formerly of the Wolfenbarger Community, Hancock County, passed away Monday. Family will receive friends 5:00 to 9:00 Saturday at Wolfenbarger Baptist Church. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Wolfenbarger Baptist Church. Burial in the Ramsey/Payne Cemetery. WILLIAMS, LAURA C., passed away at home February 23, 1999. Laura, was born in Charleston, S.C., on May 17, 1914, lived most of her life in Wilmington, N.C., until moving to Sneedville. She lived with her daughters Dale Kyber and Sandra Ballard. She had been a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur A. Williams; brother, Seldon Wilson Combs; mother, Essie W. Pettaway; father, Louis S.. Combs. She is survived by her daughters, Dale and Sandra and son-in-law, Francis Ballard of Sneedville; grandchildren, John W. Thompson of Collegedale, TN., Cheryl Smith of Annapolis, MD., Dawn Bridges of Greeneville, TN., Stanley Ray Allen of Maryville, TN.; G.R. (Randy) Ennis of Collegedale, TN.; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Combs Williamson of Sneedville, Marie Combs Peterson of Wilietta, CA., Flossie Mae Combs Flourney of Raleigh, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at home, Rt. No 2, Box 337 (Hwy. 66) in Sneedville, Saturday, February 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Rogersville Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 712 Caney Creek Road on Saturday, March 6 at 5 p.m. McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville in charge of arrangements.
