RIVES, BEATRICE FARROW, age 96, of Jefferson City, passed away 7:15 p.m. Monday, February 15, 1999 at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation. A member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Preceded in death by her husband, O.L. Rives, a Carson-Newman Professor and minister. Survived by: son, James F. Rives of New Market; daughters, Mrs. Josephine Cox of Knoxville, and Mrs. Sarah Katherine Brooks of Palm Dale, CA.; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Farrar’s Chapel with Rev. Moncrief Jordan officiating. Interment will be Thursday, February 18, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. CST in Liberty Church Cemetery, Union City, TN. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday prior to funeral services. SEAHORN, EVELYN FELKNOR, age 90, of White Pine, passed away 3:50 p.m. Monday, February 15, 1999 at U.T. Hospital.. She was a member of Seahorn’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Graveside funeral services 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, at Seahorn’s Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Rick Hollifield and Dr. Cordell Maddox officiating.. Family will receive friends immediately following the graveside services in Seahorn’s Chapel United Methodist Church. TREECE, GLENN A. (RAB), age 68, of 351 Richardson Street, passed away Saturday, Feb., 13, 1999 at home. Funeral services will be tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rock of Ages Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will be Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Russellville Cemetery. The family is being served by Dockery Funeral Home of Morristown.

WILLIAMS, JOE DANIEL, (JODY), age 42, of Ellicott City, MD., passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999 at his home. He was born October 5, 1956. Survivors: sons, Shawn of Colombia, Maryland, Danny of Asheville, N.C,; longtime girlfriend, Cindy Bledsoe of Ellicott City, MD.; mother and father, Birdie and Lloyd D. Williams of Ellicott, MD.; brothers, Wayne and Sharon Williams and family of Ellicott City, MD. Lloyd A. Williams and family of Ellicott City, MD.; sisters, Karen and Keith Hatfield of Sneedville, Kim Wallen and Keysha of Ellicott City, MD., Julie and Mike Johns and family of Ellicott City, Md.; nephew and friend, Joshua Emminizer; many friends and family both of Sneedville and Ellicott City, MD. BARBEE, JAMES DONALD (J.D.), age 67, of Jefferson City, passed away 10:45 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. J.D. was born June 18, 1931. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 5266, Morristown. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by father, Clark Barbee and sister, Shirley Ballinger. Survived by his mother, Vadney Barbee; sons, James Randall Barbee, Timothy Barbee, and Gregory Barbee; granddaughters, Reagan and Jessica Barbee; brothers, Gerald, Dale, and Lanis Barbee; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Chapel with Reverend Randy Epps officiating. Family and friends will gather 1:45 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 1999 at Mountain View Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service. GERVASI, CONCETTO S. (CONNIE), age 83, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was born March 7, 1915 in Manhattan, New York. Mr. Gervasi was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church; a faithful usher for seventeen years. He was a member of Knight’s of Columbus, No, 6730 and 4th Degree Bernard O’Connor Assembly; and was well known to many as a caller at the Knights’ Bingo Game at St. Patrick. The son of the late Salvadore and Rosario Gervasi, he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and Rudolph Gervasi and sister, Sally Leonbruno. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ada L. Campbell Gervasi; sisters, Santa Virzi of NV., Josephine DeMarco, NY, and Ann Nixon of NY,; brother, James Gervasi of NV. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated by Father Patrick Garrity and Father Joseph Brando. Interment Hamblen Memory Gardens, Friends may call at their convenience Thursday at Stetzer Funeral Home with Rosary at 6 p.m. Friends wishing to express sympathy may do so through memorial donations to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Senior Citizens Center of Morristown. GRAVES, SANDRA PARKER, 51, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at St. Mary’s Health System, Knoxville. Mrs. Graves was the wife of Ben Graves, owner of Ben’s Home Center, who survives her. She and her husband were married in Morristown in 1969. She was born in Grainger County on Oct. 10. 1947. Mrs. Graves was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Ladies of the Elks Auxiliary. She was a Baptist. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Eloise Maney Parker of Morristown; two brothers, Eddie Parker and Jay Parker, both of Morristown; and four sisters, Gloria Hibbard, Dawn Rogers and Debbie Courtney, all of Morristown, and Shadlene McBee of Whiteville. Her father, Milburn J. Parker, died earlier. The graveside service will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at McCarty- Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. HARMON, MISS AVA LEE, age 77, of New Tazewell, was born May 7, 1921, passed away on Feb. 17, 1999 at her home. She was a member of New Tazewell Christian Church. Preceded in death by her parents, W.E. and Mollie (Durham) Harmon; brother, Lloyd Harmon; sisters, Bonnie Harmon, Alma Harmon and Martha Greene. Survived by: sister-in-law, Jessie D. Harmon of New Tazewell, TN.; cousins, Forrest McKeehan of Chewelah, Washington, Gail Yost of Hamilton, Ohio; special friends, Rufus and Charlene Upton, Johnny Hansard, all of New Tazewell; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 1999 at Coffey Funeral Chapel, Tazewell with Rev. Jody Owens officiating. . The body will lie in state 30 minutes. Singers: Liberty Quartet. HENDERSON , BOBBY JOE, age 68, of Dandridge, passed away early Thursday morning, February 18, 1999, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville following an extended illness. Mr. Henderson was a lifelong member of the Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Fine Henderson; parents, Thomas and Lula Cox Henderson; and several brothers and sisters. He was a retired employee of the Jefferson Farmers Cooperative and was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Jefferson County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his daughter, Lori Henderson of the home; brother, Vern Henderson of Knoxville; sister, Mary Nell Rector of Oak Ridge; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening, February 19, 1999, from the Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Dandridge with Reverend Ben Lynch, Reverend Rick Hollifield, and Reverend Mike Feely officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, February 20, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge and proceed to Hillcrest Cemetery for a 10:30 a.m. graveside interment service. VIRGIN, JOHNNIE G (PURKEY)., 83, of Jacksonville, IL., passed away Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Pittsfield Manor in Pittsfield, Illinois. A native of Morristown, TN., Ms. Virgin was the daughter of John L. and Ida C.. Goan Purkey. Ms. Virgin was preceded in death by brothers, Howard and Ralph (Mike) Purkey and sister, Gladys Purkey Long. She was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church and graduated from Morristown High School. Ms. Virgin worked as a nurse’s aid at the Jacksonville State Hospital before her retirement. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald B. and JoAnn Stubblefield, Ralph E. and Irene Stubblefield, Kenneth and Darlene Stubblefield; daughter, Mona Furlong, all of Jacksonville, IL.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and J. Norman Jones of New Lenox, IL.; stepson, Chalmer Stubblefield of Couch, MO.; stepdaughter, Beulah Evans of Lamar, CO.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edward (Katie) Hash of Cleveland, TN.; sister-in-law, Bernice Purkey of Virginia, IL.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday at Stetzer’s Morristown Chapel. Interment in Liberty Hill Cemetery. BAKER, PAULINE, age 84, of the Talbott Community, passed away 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital after an extended illness. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by husband, Frank Baker. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Violet and Bill Sartain of Talbott; grandsons and wives, Alvin and Marie Sartain, Roger and Nickie Sartain; great-granddaughters, Emily and Summer Sartain, all of Talbott; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Chapel, Jefferson City, with Reverend Dale Gray and Reverend Robert Junior Hopkins officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. prior to funeral services. Family and friends will gather 10:45 a.m. Friday, February 19, 1999, at Ebenezer Cemetery for graveside interment services.
