QUARLES, FOYE LEONARD, age 81, of the Mt. Horeb Community, Jefferson City, TN. passed away 10:45 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville following a brief illness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge and was a prominent farmer and life-long resident of Jefferson County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Douglass Quarles, father Frank Quarles, sister Mary Ellen Hardy, and brothers, Wiley and Glenn Quarles. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law Doug and Maxine Quarles; granddaughter, Carri Quarles; mother, Mrs. Frank (Anna) Quarles; sisters: Mrs. Bill (Georgia) Myers, Mrs. John (Carolyn) Ellis and Mrs. Maurice (Wylene) Hatcher; brother Gerald Quarles; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services, Monday, February 22, 1999, 7:00 p.m. at the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel (Jefferson City) with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. SOLOMON, ROBERT E. (BUCK), 66, of Jefferson City passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith; a Korean War veteran; a life long member of the VFW, American Legion and A.C.B. and Ham Radio Operator. Survived by wife, Jewell Solomon; daughter, Anna Amburn and Wendy Solomon, all of Jefferson City; sons, Kenny and Dean Solomon of Rutledge; granddaughter, Andrea Amburn; 2 other granddaughters and 2 grandsons; mother, Lucille Solomon; sisters, Annie Hubbard and Marie Oakes, all of New Market; brothers, Kenneth Solomon of Strawberry Plains, Frank Solomon of New Market and Tom E. VINEYARD, GARY ALLEN, 49, of New Market passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was employed by State Farm Insurance Co. He was preceded in death by parents, Hazel and Allen Vineyard. He is survived by wife, Deb Vineyard; sons, Travis and Tyler Vineyard, all of New Market; grandson, Dru Allen Vineyard; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and James Cameron of Jefferson City; two aunts; one uncle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Scott and Carla Sexton of Pigeon Forge; and several nieces and nephews. WELCH, MRS. BONNIE TURNER, age 88, of Dandridge, passed away suddenly at 7:12 p.m. Saturday evening, February 20, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Welch was a member of the French Broad Baptist Church at Oak Grove and was the widow of the late Hugh Welch. She was also preceded in death by her son, Billy Welch; a son-in-law, Kenneth “Krow” Goforth; and a granddaughter, Pam Welch Wilhite. Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Mae Goforth of Dandridge and Mrs. Harry (Joan) Rowan of Sanford, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Welch of Jefferson City; two granddaughters, Wendy Goforth of Dandridge and Tina Welch of Nashville; three greatgrandchildren, Angie Chesteen Kinkead of Kodak, Joe Chesteen of Morristown, and Joshua Clark of Nashville; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, February 22, 1999, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Dandridge with Reverend Rick Hollifield officiating. GRAY, JAMES SCOTT, age 83, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 1999, at the Life Care Center of Greeneville. Gray, a retired farmer, was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and the Orebank-Greene Ruritan Club. He was the son of the late Samuel and Vivian Sauceman Gray and was preceded in death by five brothers, Harry, Elbert, Robert, Billy and Johnny Gray, and a grandson, Randell Sterling Keller. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nelle Hutton Gray; four daughters and three sons in law, Joan and Ted Carter of Mosheim, Shirley Hawk of Greeneville, Peggy and S. Lee Campbell of Morristown and Carolyn and Jack Goodman of Mosheim; four grandchildren, Robert Keller and spouse Jennifer, Richard Keller and spouse Latasha, Teresa Culp and spouse Dan; and Denesa Ford; two great-grandchildren, Emma Kesterson and Cureshia Ford; two step-great-grandchildren, Cline Allen Everhart and Bryan Everhart; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Ruth Gray of Mosheim, Hubert and Grace Gray of Mosheim and Don and Josie Gray of Greeneville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Katherine Hutton of Greeneville, Anna Harriet and Robert Hutton of Greeneville, and Mary McCamey of Mosheim.; sister-in-law, Virgie Gray of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
