FOWLER, CLAUDE (DOC) NEWTON, age 84, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 1999, at Cocke County Baptist Hospital. A native of Cocke County and a retired Engineer with American Enka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Lizzie Overholt Fowler; son, Robert Fowler and brothers, D.S. (Jerry) Fowler, E.T. (Bug) Fowler, C.H. (Tommy) Fowler, Earl L. Fowler, J.C. (Nig) Fowler, Lesley R. (Chick) Fowler and K.O. (Pumpkin) Fowler. Survivors include his wife, Annie M. Fowler; five nieces and three nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Del Robertson and Rev. Bryan Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Point Pleasant Cemetery. HIPSHIRE, NAOMI, age 90, formerly of Morristown, passed away January 14, 1999 at Spring City Care Center, Spring City, TN. She was a member of Montvue Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Garrett Hipshire and son, Franklin Hipshire. Survivors: sister, Ann Verran of Greeneville, TN.; granddaughters, Libby Morgan and Janice Morgan of Dayton, Tn.; daughter-in-law, Neva Hipshire of Dayton, TN.; great-grandchildren, Brant Jordan, Lori Reece, Sharla Reed and Josh Morgan, all of Dayton, TN.; several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. MALLARD, KATHLEEN EMMA HAUN, 83, of Morristown, born Sept. 23, 1915, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Memphis after a long illness. She was a lifetime member of Centenary United Methodist Church, entering the cradle roll as an infant and making her decision at age 12 to unite with the church in 1929. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jehu L. Haun; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include her husband, Marvin T. Mallard of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Don Duckworth of Germantown, TN.; sister Frankie Haun Cary of Morristown; granddaughter and her husband, Suzanne and Tate Thigpen of Jackson, Miss.; stepson and his wife, Charles and Paige Mallard and family of Daytona Beach, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 1999 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Best officiating, assisted by Rev. Dwight Kenney. MASON, ROSA JOSEPHINE, age 89, a resident of Life Care of Greeneville, since June 1998, passed away Thursday, January 14,1 999. A native of Marble Falls, TX., having moved to Tennessee in 1945, Mrs. Mason lived in Morristown for 44 years where she was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the I.B.C. Group. She worked at Proffitts in Morristown for several years. Her husband, N.A. Mason died in 1980, Mrs. Mason was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers, all of Texas. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Anne Mason, Tusculum; grandson, Michael Mason, Fairfax, VA.; and several nieces and nephews, all of Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Stubblefield Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Smith and Rev. Don Alexander, pastor of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Greeneville officiating.
