BELCHER, DELMER O., age 75, of Sneedville, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at the Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nan Belcher and brothers, Fred and Tyler Belcher and several sisters. Survivors: several cousins. Funeral services 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, 1999 at the McNeil Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Hugh E. Hopkins and Rev. Ronnie A. Kinsler officiating. Interment in the Belcher Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, January 21, 1999 from 7 to 9 at the McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville. McNeil Funeral Home, Sneedville, in charge of arrangements. Phone No. 1-423-733-2246.

COLLINS, GEORGE HENRY, SR., age 84, of Knoxville, formerly of Rutledge, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at UT Medical Center. He was a member of New Blackwell Baptist Church in Rutledge. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife, Callie Hysel (Peggy Collins); brothers, Lester, L.C., Kyle and Ralph Collins; sisters, Laura Harbin and Erma Lee Mounger. Survivors are: daughter and son-in-law, Glynda and Kenneth Beeler, with whom he made his home; sons and daughters-in-law, G.H. and Celia Collins and Gale and Evelyn Collins; grandchildren and spouses, Gwen and Rick Cameron, Cathy and James Wilson, Audrey and David Hurst and Chris and Cheri Collins; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Cory Atchley, Callie Hurst, Danny and Matthew Collins; sister, Pearl Walters and several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday , January 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Hurst officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at New Blackwell Cemetery Friday at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge, TN.

GREER, HELEN YORK, age 66, died on Jan. 19, 1999, after a lingering illness. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 389; a long time loyal employee of Ted Russell Ford; and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edith M. York and father, Jesse York Sr. Survivors: husband, W. Harold Greer; daughter, Cissy Greer Sawyer; granddaughter, Sarah Rhiannon; son, Russell A. Greer; brother, Jesse York Jr.; and sister-in-law, Lou York of Morristown; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. George Hollander officiating. HARRINGTON, EDWIN ASHLEY (ED), age 78, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 1999, at Life Care Center of Jefferson City, after being admitted from Morristown-Hamblen Hospital from an extended illness. He was a retired Roadway employee and attended Faith Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Enoia Harrington; sister, Anna O’Hara; brother, Hollis Harrington and son, Eddie Harrington. Survived by sons, James Edwin Harrington of Talbott and Frank Elano Harrington of Denver, CO.; daughters, Margaret Edge and Gayle Locke of Atlanta, Ga., and Joyce Ann Seidnitzer of Hampton, Va.; grandchildren, Jaime Harrington, Angi Harrington Dalton, Rebecca Avery, Tim Edge, Travis Edge, Tamara Harrington and Denna Molnar; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Don Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. HORNER, NELLIE M., age 78, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, January 21, 1999 at Heritage Center. She was preceded in death by husbands, Paul Stuffle; and Coy Horner; parents, John and Minnie Hill; sisters, Elvie Cockrum and Annie Norton; and brother, Tommy Hill. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Milburn Gibson; grandson, Samuel F. Gibson of Morristown; sisters, Jessie Vaughan of Surgoinsville, Geneva Purkey, Virginia Gilliam and Louise Hollaway of Morristown; brother, Donald Hill of Newport; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Danny Vaughn officiating. Interment to follow in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. KINSLER, BLAKE NICOLE, age 3, of Bulls Gap, TN., departed this life Tuesday, January 19, 1999. She was born September 21, 1995. Survivors: parents, Troy and Jenny Kinsler of Bulls Gap, TN.; grandparents, Harold and Joan Chinn of LaFollette, TN., Hank Kinsler of Bulls Gap, TN., Cleo Kinsler of Maryland; great-grandmother, Julie Sizemore Nuest of Maryland; uncle, John Thomas Kinsler; many great aunts, uncles and cousins. MAYES, MS. OLLIE JANE “CHICK,” of Tazewell, was born October 7, 1928 and passed away January 19, 1999 in the Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 70. She was a member of the Straight Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Corda Mullins; husband, Foster Mayes; eight brothers; seven sisters. She is survived by: sons and daughter-in-law, Phil and Carol Mayes of Madison, AL., John and Laura Mayes of Columbia, S.C., three grandchildren, Rodney Mayes of Flatrock, MI., Rochelle Miniciler of Huntsville, AL., Anthony Beason of Halls, TN.; four great-grandchildren; brother, Clinton Mullins Jr., of Morristown, TN.; sister, Bacie Seals of Morristown, TN.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 1999 at the Claiborne Funeral Home. MORGAN, JOSEPH WESLEY, age 74, of 3551 Sulphur Springs Road, Morristown, passed away January 18, 1999 at the home of his niece, Delores Shaver. He was a member of Westside Christian Church; a member of VFW Post No. 5266 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annabelle Morgan. Survivors: brother, William E. Morgan of Spencer, OH.; sister, Ruby McMurray of Jefferson City, TN.; several nieces, nephews. and cousins. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Westside Christian Church with Darris Brock officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the services. SEALS, SILVA L., age 96, of Morristown, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999. She was the oldest member of Thankful Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Seals, Sr.; sons, Floyd, Mack and Frank; daughter, Lucille Jones. Survivors: his sons and their wives, George Seals Jr., and Irene, Garland, Texas, Brice Seals and Delaine, Morristown; his daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Howard (Elsie) Seals and Polly Chandler and Ralph, Morristown, Margaret Hopkins and Fred, Talbott; 32 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mossie Smith, Ewing, Va.; sisters-in-law, Martha Simerly and Katie Seals Reed, Morristown. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Friday at Thankful Baptist Church with Rev. David Rutherford officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service. Interment in Liberty Hill Cemetery. SHARPTON, CATHERINE CARMICHAEL, age 74, of Morristown, TN., formerly of Atlanta, Ga., passed away January 20, 1999 at Life Care Center of Morristown. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville. Survivors: sister, Ann Hatley of Lewisburg, TN.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dan (Georgia) Carmichael, Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth) Carmichael; several nieces and nephews. THOMPSON, ARTHUR JR., age 82, of Jefferson City, passed away 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was of the Baptist faith; veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Survived by sister and devoted brother-in-law, Lucy and Herbert Brabson; sister, Edna Jackson, all of Jefferson City; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 1999 at Farrar’s Chapel with Reverend Roger Mills Jr., and Reverend E.O. Cole officiating. Interment to follow in West View Cemetery. She was a member of Magna View Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Preceded in death by her parents, Baylar and Dora Proffitt; one sister, and three brothers. Survivors include her husband, James W. Thompson; sons, Lynn Thompson and wife, Laura of Morristown and Kenny Thompson of Annville, PA.; daughters, Elsie Vaughn of Morristown, Mrs. Sam (Barbara) Chadwick of Petros, TN., and Mrs. David R. (Carolyn) Vaughn of Bean Station, TN.; sisters, Elsie Ball of Englewood, OH., Minnie West of Kettering, OH., Cora Kesterson of Wickliffe, OH., and Nancy Johnson of London, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
