ALLEN, MINNIE BELLE (BRYANT), age 96, born April 26, 1902 and died 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Member of Oakwood Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Preceded in death by husband, Rev. Willis R. Allen; daughter-in-law, Mildred Peters Allen. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, J.D. CARPENTER, GEORGE H., age 65, of Mooresburg, passed away Thursday, January 7, 1999 at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of Bible View Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Carpenter; mother, father, brothers, and sister. Survivors include: son, Lester Carpenter of Greeneville; daughter, Janice White of Ohio; sons, Jeff Carpenter and Steve Carpenter of Ohio; step-children, Randy Russell, Keith Russell, and Tammy Russell of Morristown; 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 1999 at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. John Richard officiating. Interment will follow at Big Hill Cemetery. CLARK, ROBERT FRANK, died on Thursday January 7, 1999, at Heritage Center. He was the son of the late J. Allen Clark and Matoka Sexton Clark and was preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Pearl Randall, Mrs. Roxie Humphreys, Vera Frances Clark and brother, William M. (Sixty) Clark. He was born in Del Rio and lived in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Fla., thirty six years where he owned and operated the Beachcomber Barber Shop. He was a charter member of First Church of God (Anderson, IN.) of Ft. Lauderdale, where he served on a number of boards, including Board of Trustees and was head usher for more than thirty years. He was a member of Gideons International. After returning to Tennessee in 1988, he attended the First Church of God, W. Economy Road in Morristown. Survivors include his wife, Frances Pauline Clark; sisters, Mrs. Nellie Clark and Mrs. Pauline Greer; two nephews, Ronnie and Terry Clark of Greeneville; one niece, Carolyn Alexander of Johnson City; nephews by marriage, Eugene and M.R. Courtney, H.C. and Ronnie White of Whitesburg, C.A. Walker of Bradenton, Fla.; nieces by marriage, Mrs. Aileen Early of Whitesburg and Mrs. Marjorie Range of Elizabethton. Services will be held at Westside Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. with Reverend Willis Bowers officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Randall Joins. KNOWLING, ELMER W., age 91, of Talbott, passed away 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church; a retired farmer; and a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Julia Hopkins Knowling of Talbott; brother, Horace Knowling of Billings, Montana; sister, Grace Hill of Talbott; several nieces and nephews. COOK, PATSY ANN, age 60, of Bean Station, formerly of Morristown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She had lived at Heritage Center for 14 months. She was a member of Noeton Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Harvey Cook. Survivors: special aunt and uncle, Clora and Richard Wright of Bean Station, with whom she made her home for three years; several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. SPITZER, EMERSON CALVIN, 91, of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at Church Hill Health Care Center, after a short illness. He was a member of East Rogersville Baptist Church, and was retired from Gluck Brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Deliah Spitzer; wife, Elsie Spitzer; daughters, Faye Long and Marlene Poe; one brother; and five sisters. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Jerry Gilmore; son and daughter-in-law, E.C. and Edna Spitzer, all of Rogersville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
