HORNER, JOSEPH RAYMOND, age 88 of Talbott passed away 1:46 a.m. Friday,
January 15, 1999 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. A
member of Mansfield Gap Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II.
Survived by brother, Johnny Horner, Mt. Morris, Illinois; and several
nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16,
1999, from the Farrar Funeral Chapel in Jefferson City with Rev. William
Bradley and Rev. Kyle Cate officiating. Family and friends will meet
2:00 p.m. Sunday at Carter Cemetery (Hamblen County) for interment
services. Family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday prior to the
funeral service at the funeral home. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral
Home, 411 West Broadway Blvd., Jefferson City, Tennessee 37760. Phone

MASON, ROSA JOSEPHINE, 89, of Greeneville, formerly of Morristown. She
was the widow of N.A. Mason, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999. The funeral
service will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Stubblefield Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral
service. Family and friends will meet 11:00 a.m. Monday at Jarnagin
Cemetery for interment. Stubblefield Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

MINK, ZELMA LEON MATTHEWS, 91, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away
Friday, January 15, 1999, in Jefferson County Nursing Home in Dandridge.
She was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Martha Matthews of the
Mohawk Community in Greene County. She was the widow of Robert Howard
Mink, and during their 55 years of marriage they lived in Big Stone Gap,
Va., and Knoxville, Tenn. She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Jefferson City. Survivors include a nephew, Ronald Matthews of
Maryville; and a niece, Marjorie Shrader of Talbott. The family received
friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, with funeral
service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Ronald Matthews officiated.
Graveside service will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Church
Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home, Bulls Gap, in charge of arrangements.

SMITH, LOLA GRACE CARMICHAEL, age 71, of White Pine, passed away January
15, 1999 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist
Church of White Pine. Preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lexie
Carmichael; and sister, Anna Ruth Kimbrough. Survivors: husband, Hobert
C. Smith of White Pine; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra K. and Freddie
Smith of White Pine; son and daughter-in-law, Michael K. and Jackie
Smith of Morristown; grandsons, Matthew and Michael Smith of Morristown,
Stacy and wife, Lora Smith of Whitesburg; sister, Fannie B. Carter of
Morristown. Services were 8 p.m. Saturday at Mayes Mortuary with Revs.
Ken Richey, Dale Gray and Randy Davis officiating. Graveside services
will be 2 p.m. Sunday at White Pine Cemetery. The family received
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Morristown, Higher
Ground Television Ministry. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

WOODS, CROSHIE, age 89, of Rutledge passed away Friday evening, January
15, 1999 at her residence. She was a member of Noah’s Chapel American
Christian Church in Rutledge. Mrs. Woods is preceded in death by her
husband Elmer Woods; daughter, Dolly Hipsher; sister, Rushie Workman;
brother, Hubert Wells. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James
and Alice Lynn of Mooresburg; special granddaughter, Janet Bowen of
Rutledge; sister, Kathryn Wells of Talbott; brothers, Clifford and
Leonard Wells, both of Talbott; 10 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other
friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 18,
1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollis
Dunsmore and Rev. Buddy Hipsher officiating. Interment to follow in the
Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from
6-8 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements made by Smith
Funeral Home in Rutledge.

BATES, BETTY J. , age 59, of Morristown, passed away Friday, January 8,
1999, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her
parents, John Wiley and Bonnie Mary Green Lamb; and brother, Lonnie
Lamb. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron (Pete) and
Peggy Shiflet and Armon (Danny) and Ann Shiflet, of Talbott;
grandchildren, Misty, Tasha and Derek Shiflet; and one great-grandson;
sisters, Lilly Sinard of White Pine and Terrie Braden of Morristown;
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, 2:00 p.m.
at Westside Chapel with Rev. Stephen Burkhart and Rev. Joe Haase
officiating. Interment will be in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family
will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the
funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

CLARK, ROBERT FRANK, died on Thursday, January 7, 1999 at Heritage
Center. Services were held at Westside Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday
evening at 8:00 p.m. with Reverend Willis Bowers officiating. He was
assisted by Rev. Randall Joins. Graveside services will be at Catherine
Nenney Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The family
received friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at
Westside Chapel prior to services. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s
Lakeway Program and Services of Morristown, Tenn., 600 N. Daisy St.,
Morristown, Tenn., 37813. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

COFFEY, ANDY WILLIAMS, SR., age 28, of Powder Springs, Tenn., was born
April 20, 1970, passed away on Jan. 9, 1999 on Hwy. 25-E in a car
accident. He worked at Johnson Construction Company. He was preceded in
death by his sons, Andy Williams Coffey, Jr. and Adam Williams Coffey;
brother, Claude Edward Coffey. Survived by: wife, Mary Coffey; parents,
Tip Williams Coffey and Nell Miller Coffey all of Powder Springs, Tenn.;
brothers, Clyde Coffey of Maynardville, Tenn., Tipton Jr. Coffey, Robert
Williams Coffey, Douglas Wayne Coffey; sisters, Evelyn Caudill, Charlene
Brock, Patsy Hux, all of Powder Springs, Tenn.; and a host of other
relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 10, 1999 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Neals
Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Coffey
Funeral Home in Tazewell, Tenn. Rev. Keith Young and Rev. Sidney Caudill
officiating. Pallbearers: David Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Randy Nicely,
Mark Johnson, Danny Williams, Todd Johnson, Ray Brock, David Perry.

COOK, PATSY ANN, 60, of Bean Station, formerly of Morristown, died
Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Funeral services
will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in
Morristown. Interment will be in the Noeton Cemetery. Stubblefield
Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

COOMER, MR. GARY LEE, age 39, of Tazewell, Tenn. passed away Jan. 8,
1999 at his home. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at
Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell, Tenn. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday
at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Coffey Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

FOSTER, LAWRENCE G.,92, of Morristown, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999 at
Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. Arrangements to be announced later by
Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown.

GRUBER, MARC ERIC, age 26, of Morristown, serving with the U.S. Navy in
San Diego, CA., passed away Friday, January 1, 1999 in CA. He was the
son of Carl and Patricia Gruber of Morristown. Funeral arrangements to
be announced later by Westside Chapel Funeral Home.

JARNIGAN, REV. HUGH, age 83 of Bean Station, passed away Saturday,
January 9, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Health Care. Funeral arrangements
are incomplete and will be announced later by Smith Funeral Home in
Rutledge.

LAWSON, CHRISTINE (LORETTA), age 46 years, 11 months and 17 days of age,
of Sneedville passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 1999 at the Baptist Hospital
in Knoxville. She was born January 22, 1952. She professed faith in
Christ at an early age and joined Brewer’s Chapel Baptist Church, then
joined Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until
death. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Royston; and
brother, Clyde (Lono) Royston; and several aunts and uncles. She leaves
her loving husband, Wiley Lawson of the home; daughters, Felicia Lawson;
and fiancee, Jason Anderson of Sneedville, Jennifer Lawson and special
friend, Barry Brooks of Sneedville; mother, Gustava Royston of
Sneedville; brothers and sister-in-law, Leroy and Joyce Royston of
Rutledge, Tenn., Johnny Wayne Royston and fiancee, Brooke Hurd of New
Market, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Jackie and Jason Collins of
Morristown, Tommy Royston of Morristown, Tami and Travis Gibson of
Whitesburg, Tenn., Chad Royston of Rutledge, Tenn., Jeremy Royston of
Madison, Va., Donna and Rodney Greene of Sneedville, Michael and Jason
Seal of Sneedville, Jeannie, Riley and Jackie McCoy, all of Tazewell,
Tenn., Angela and Brennen Nichols of Rogersville; great-niece and
nephew, Breanna Nichols of Rogersville, John Greene of Sneedville and
Mathis Gibson of Whitesburg; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and
friends. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 1999 at Big
Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. E.J. Brogan, Rev. Rodney Greene
and Rev. Porter Carroll officiating. Singers, the Dodson Singers,
Clearance, Danita and Malisha. Interment in the Lawson Cemetery. The
family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Sunday, January 10, 1999 at the

Tommy Royston, Michael and Jason Seal, Riley and Jackie McCoy, Brennen
Nichols, cousins and friends, Jackie, Johnny, Dan and Steve Lawson and
Roger Greene.
