SNOW, Clifford (Cliff
age 72, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Tulare County, Calif., and Orland, Calif., went to be with the Lord Monday, Nov. 14, 2005. Cliff was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship in Oak Ridge, where he served as a deacon and AWANA commander. He was retired from Terminix Pest Control with 26 years of service. He was a member of the Handyman Club of America. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Irene Snow; brother, Neil Snow. Survivors: wife of 34 years, Peggy Haskins Snow; sons, Michael and Paul of southern California, David and Daryl Snow of Oak Ridge; daughters, Valerie and Victoria; several grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Thursday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by funeral services with the Rev. Chris Bunn officiating. Family and friends gathered Friday at Fortners Chapel Cemetery in Sweetwater for graveside services. WORDEN, Elizabeth Fowlkes (Betsy)
age 70, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, while on vacation in French Polynesia with her husband of 42 years, Stuart R. Worden. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday while taking a morning ocean swim in Bora Bora. She was airlifted to a hospital in Tahiti, where she died Thursday afternoon. An artist, a teacher and a Knoxville civic leader, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Tennessee and did postgraduate studies at Atlanta School of Art, the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and the University of Tennessee. Her art is represented in several major art collections, including those of former President Gerald Ford, Joan Mondale, the Heard Collection, and the Knoxville Museum of Art. She first worked professionally as art director at Zell Manufacturing, a screen-printing company in Atlanta, Ga. A painter, tapestry weaver and printmaker, she was a longtime instructor at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg and taught watercolor classes for the Knoxville Museum of Art. A leader in the Knoxville arts community, Betsy was a board member of many arts organizations, including the Art Market Gallery of which she was a co-founder. She was also a co-founder of the Community School of the Arts and served as an officer and board member for numerous arts organizations. She was a past president of the Knoxville Watercolor Society and was an active member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, the Art Camp; Antiques Gallery, Southern Highland Handicraft Guild, the Foothills Craft Guild and Tennessee Women in the Arts. She chaired ArtFest for the Knoxville Arts Council, and served on the group’s board. She was a 1986 graduate of Leadership Knoxville and was selected to provide Dogwood Arts Festival prints in 1980 and 2001. In 1997 she was named the Knoxville Arts Council Artist of the Year and in 2000 the Arts Council honored her with its Lifetime Achievement award. She is survived by: husband, Stuart Worden; sons, John Worden of Knoxville, David Worden and wife, Missy, of Atlanta; daughter, Mary Stuart (Minky) Worden and husband, Gordon Crovitz, of New York N.Y.; grandsons, Penn Worden, Shepard Worden and Jack Crovitz. Her long and distinguished arts career notwithstanding, Betsy Worden said her proudest achievements were her children and grandchildren. Funeral service was Monday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Harris Schultz and Dr. Paul Rader officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church. Interment was private. PERCELL, Eloise M.
age 83, of Knoxville, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was a former member of Hollywood Hills Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Percell Sr., brothers Robert L. Jones and John Gleason Jones and granddaughter Angela Rae. She is survived by her loving children, Bob and Diane Percell, Clara Owenby, Jim and Linda Percell and Amy and Fred Trotter; grandchildren, Mark and Karen Percell, Clark and Missy Percell, Amber and Brent Potter, Lisa and Michael Smith, Donna and Charles Poling, Eddie and Kim McNamee and Mickey Rae; great-grandchildren, Braxton Potter, Grayson Potter, Jake Percell, Nicholas Percell and Zachery Percell, Madison Percell, Chad Davenport and Morgan Davenport, Kyle Smith, Andrew McNamee, Zacharie McNamee and Brynden Kidd. The family would like to express their deepest thanks and gratitude to all of the employees of Brakebill Nursing Home for their love and care of Eloise during her illness. NEWCOMBE, Mamie Lee Stalcup
age 73, of Knoxville, passed away early Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 2006, at Parkwest Medical Center after a battle with cancer and pneumonia. Mamie was retired from Cracker Barrel at Cedar Bluff. She was a kind and gentle lady who loved her family, friends and customers. She was preceded in death by: parents, George and Zona Mae Stalcup; granddaughter, Elisha Marie Majors; brothers, J.C. and Franklin Stalcup; sister, Reba Myers. Survived by: husband of 34 years, Lynn Newcombe; daughter and son-in-law, Lenell and J. R. Wilsey; granddaughter, Sarah Ann Murray; sister and brother-in-law, Veanna and Bob Rider of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Elisa and Ray Harrell; devoted sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Reece Maples; sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Stalcup; brother-in-law, G. KRAMER, Margaret Clippinger
of Knoxville, daughter of the late Charles F. and Ruth Jones Clippinger of Atlanta, Ga., died Friday, Feb.3, 2006 Kramer was active in many charitable and civic organizations including Church Street United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Circle No. 4, a member and former president of the University of Tennessee hospital auxiliary, member and former president of the Friday Book Club, member and former president of the Knoxville Bar Auxiliary, and a member of the Lakemoor Hills Garden Club. Mrs. Kramer grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Maryville College where she met her husband whom she adored, Jackson C. Kramer, a longtime Knoxville attorney who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by: sister and brother-in-law, Jane C. and James Lockwood; brother-in-law, R. Arnold Kramer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank A. and Ruth L. Kramer. Survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Ann Kramer and Stewart Aitchison of Flagstaff, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda K. and Douglas R. McVadon of Charlotte, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Jackson G. and Elizabeth J. Kramer of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kate Aitchison, Meredith McVadon, Carlisle Kramer, Margaret Gray Kramer, and Jackson Kramer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emma Jane Kramer White and Lyman White of Northridge, Calif.; sister-in-law Sara H. age 81, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was a member of Lake Hills Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women’s Club as well as numerous other organizations. Preceded in death by: husband, Byron Lloyd Jackson Sr.; brothers, Ernest and Wilbur Johns; grandson, James Bradford Vaughn. Survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Lewis Ransdell and Marte and Jim Wright; son, Byron L. Jackson Jr. and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Byron, L. HOFFMAN, Jane Moore
age 85, of Knoxville, daughter of the late Sam and Evelyn Cook Moore, died Wednesday Feb.1, 2006, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a lifelong member of Church Street United Methodist Church. She operated Towne and Resort Dress Shop for many years. She was a member of Junior League of Knoxville for over 50 years. Jane and her husband, Jack, were known for their lake gatherings at “Gracious Island” on Turkey Creek and for their annual 5 p.m. Christmas Day parties. She and her husband were avid boaters and UT athletic fans. Jane was preceded in death in 1995 by her husband, Percy T. “Jack” Hoffman. Survived by: friends and caregivers, Evelyn Fortson and Frances Wilson; great-niece, Missy Alfieri and husband, Dennis; great-nephews, Sam Winston, Kenneth Gentry and wife, Marilyn, Robert Gentry and wife, Joan; several great-great-nieces and nephews; her loving dog, Jacque. The family and friends met Saturday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for graveside service with the Rev. Cabel Trent officiating.
