PICKETT, Mary Alice
age 92, of Knoxville died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006. She was a member of Grace Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a retired registered nurse with Little Creek Sanitarium. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Charlotte Pickett of Greenback, and Gaines and Linda Pickett of Granite City, Ill.; grandchildren, James Todd Pickett and Sheri Lynn Flatt; great-grandchildren, Ethan Todd Flatt and Avery James Flatt; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Tempie Patterson of Port Neches, Texas; and sister, Iva Johnson of Mobile, Ala. Funeral service was Friday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Pastor David Brass officiating. Entombment followed at Highland Memorial Cemetery West. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Grace Seventh Day Adventist Church, 9123 Northshore Dr. Knoxville, TN 37919. RADER, Jane C.
age 80, of Knoxville, died Aug. 22, 2006. She was a member of Farragut First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her sister Marie Stefan; brothers Joe, Paul and Albert Calandrelli. Jane is survived by her daughter Sharon McDonald; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Cindy Pereira, Richard Pereira, Keith and Linda Simmons and Mark and Jane Simmons; sister, Martha Calandrelli; brothers, and sisters-in-law, David and Helen Calandrelli, Frank and JoAnn Calandrelli and Alva and Louise Calandrelli; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Wednesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Pastor David Rhines officiating. Interment will take place in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown, W.Va. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Knox County Baptist Association for Camp BAYOCA, 7709 Westland Drive, Knoxville, TN 37939. JOHNSON, Sheri Woods
age 67, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, after a courageous four-plus year fight with cancer. She would say in the words of the Apostle Paul: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the Race.” During her illness, Sheri was strong in her Christian faith and an inspiration to all who know her. This has always been evident to her family and friends, but witnessed most recently by the dedicated staff at Shannondale Health Care Center. Friends and staff came away from her room upbeat after their visit. Sheri was born in Crossett, Ark., on Nov. 22, 1938, to Grady and Johnette Hinton Woods. She graduated from Crossett High School and Baylor University School of Nursing in Waco, Texas, in 1961. She practiced nursing in Crossett, the University of Arkansas Medical Center for Kidney Transplant, and other Healthcare Facilities in Little Rock and Knoxville. The Johnson family moved back to Knoxville in 1978 to establish a family business, A&W Office Supply & Design. Sheri became active in several organizations and formed many special relationships. She was a true caregiver, and always blessed others with her care, concern and wonderful sense of humor. She was active at Central Baptist Church of Bearden where she was supportive of her husband’s couples Sunday School Class. She had a host of friends through church, Neighborhood, “Lunch Bunch”, Bridge Group and was part of a 25-plus year circle of friends in “Salad Bar.” Other involvement and service was through Ossolli Circle, Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Colonists and Daughters of the American Revolution. In their retirement, Sheri and Bob spent winters in Pompano Beach, Fla., and have many friends there as well as through traveling to Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean. She is preceded in death by her parents, and in-laws, Robert L. and Helen Cato Johnson of Knoxville, Nancy Johnson Bailey (Mrs. Jack K.) of Gainesville, Ga. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert C. (Bob) Johnson and daughters, Jennifer J. Barton (Mrs. Michael E.) and Janelle J. Witt (Mrs. Michael E.); granddaughters, Molly E. Barton, Erin K. Witt and Dasha A. Witt, all of Knoxville; sister, Wendy Woods of Gilbert, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph L. and Judy L. Johnson of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews and their children. The family especially wants to thank the caring staff at The University of Tennessee Cancer Center, the wonderful Shannondale Health Care Staff and all those who have been supportive through prayers, calls, visits and cards. The family received friends Wednesday at Central Baptist Church Bearden. A celebration of her life followed with Dr. Larry Fields officiating. Family and friends met Thursday at the main entrance of Highland Memorial Cemetery for an interment. WARMING, Lorraine “Lola” Franklin O’Neal,
surrounded by those she loved, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, as she had lived, with dignity and grace. Born in Fountain City “80 something” years ago, Lola was the second daughter of A.H. and Vada Franklin. A graduate of Central High School, she also attended Emory University. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City since age 12, however she attended First Baptist of Knoxville throughout her adult life and continued to watch every Sunday on TV “with captions” until her death. Lola loved sports and was an avid golfer, having learned the game from her father as a teenager. An active member of Deane Hill, Holston and Green Meadows country clubs, she participated in many tournaments as both a golfer and as a volunteer. A loyal The University of Tennessee football fan for more than 60 years, she also followed both the men’s and women’s basketball programs faithfully. An excellent Bridge player, she enjoyed both couples and ladies clubs. Lola was a volunteer at heart and through the years, dedicated many hours to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Easter Seals and the Girl Scouts. Her caring spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. As the matriarch and role model of the family, she compassionately and unselfishly cared for those who preceded her in death: her parents, A.H. & Vada Tolbert Franklin; daughter, Kay O’Neal Sue; husband of 40 years, Victor M. O’Neal; and the love of her life, her second husband of 18 years, Guy A. Warming. A nurturing and generous mother and grandmother, those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Buddy Sensenbach of Knoxville; grandchildren, Albert W. Sue IV of Nashville, Karen Sue Young and husband, Mark, of Clarksville, Shannon Sensenbach, MacKenzie Alleman and Blake Sensenbach, all of Knoxville; and great-grandson, Wesley Young of Clarksville; sister, Pauline Hutson Witt; niece, Carolyn Mynatt Clifford, both of Knoxville; son-in-law, Albert W. Sue III and wife, Marsha, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; “second” daughter, Cathy Roberts Willard of Winston-Salem, N.C.; stepchildren, Eric Warming, Andrea Warming Stewart, Christa Warming McCampbell and their families. MOSER, Janet T.,
age 78, of Knoxville, died Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2006, at Maryville Health Care Center. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral where she was a involved with the Mary Martha Organization and Alter Guild. Mrs. Moser was a longtime member of ABWA and member of the board of directors of the Knox County Public Library. She was the widow of Dr. Arthur H. Moser, a professor of Classics at the University of Tennessee for many years. She is survived by her three stepsons, Charles A. Moser of Sofia, Bulgaria, Gerard S. Moser of Capetown, South Africa, and Donald B. Moser of St. Louis, Mo., and many nieces and nephews. Following a private interment, there will be a memorial service Tuesday at St. John’s Cathedral with the Very Rev. John C. Ross, the Rev. Canon Thomas Rasnick and the Rev. Canon Mary Lee Bergeron officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cathedral Alter Guild Flower Fund, 413 W. Cumberland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37902. age 87, of Knoxville, daughter of the late Charles and Louise Colhoun Yates of Greensboro, N.C., passed away suddenly Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Rosa Scott Sunday School Class. Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John C. McAmis Jr ; sister, Elizabeth King; brother, Charles Yates. She is survived by her loving family, daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Bernie Housholder of Memphis, Jeanne and the Rev. George Murray of Newport News, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, John Carl III and Carolyn McAmis of Maryville; grandchildren, John William Housholder, Andrew David Housholder, Rebecca Rawlinson and husband, John, Andrew McAmis Murray, Jennifer Diane McAmis, Scott Allen McAmis; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Dick Fuquay of Orange City, Fla., Margaret Brown of Greensboro; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Barbara Yates of Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Dooley (Frances) Lothrop; brother-in-law, James R. BOST, Nellie Mae Mendenhall Earl,
age 96, of Knoxville, daughter of the late John and Eula Mason Mendenhall, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. She was a member of West Lonsdale Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She is also preceded in death by her husbands, Daniel J. Earl and Eubert Bost; sons, Tony E. Earl and Danny Earl; daughter-in-law, Joni Hager Earl; grandsons, Brad Earl and Ronnie Earl; brother, Stuart Mendenhall. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack F. and Beverly Earl of Chattanooga, Jerry E. and Betty Earl of Clinton; daughters-in-law, Janet Earl of Oak Ridge and Patsy Earl of Knoxville; grandchildren and their spouses, Joy and Mitch Tull, Jamie and Tim Hensley, Jackie Patterson, Eugene and Janet Earl, Tim Earl, Jennie Herbert, Nora and Tim Hageman; 14 great-grandchildren; step-children, Flora King, Jessie “Sonny” Bost and Marshall Bost, all of Knoxville; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. Interment followed at New Gray Cemetery.
