SMITH, Conley,
age 82, of Knoxville, formerly of Monroe, Mich., slipped away from his home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Sept. 29, 2006. Conley was born in Speedwell Feb. 14, 1924. He served in the CCC of TN as a young man. He was a longtime member of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe. Conley was employed by Consolidated Paper Company, Monroe, for 30 years, retiring from Jefferson Smurfit Packaging Company in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Lillie Leach Smith; brothers, Lonnie Jr. and Hobert Smith; sisters, Juanita and Dorothy Smith. In passing, Conley leaves to celebrate his wonderful life his wife of 46 years, Kathleen Owens Smith; daughters, Vicki Lynne Callahan and husband, Brad, Brenda Lee Smith; three grandchildren, Clint and Jessica Callahan and Lillie Grace Smith, all of Knoxville; sisters, Edna (Ernest) Manning and Mary Shields; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Dorsia Owens; sister-in-Law, Bonnie Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and John Lawson, Hesper and Margaret Owens, Carl and Linda Owens, all of Monroe; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many beloved friends. The family received friends Monday in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with funeral services to follow with the Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating. Family and friends will gather Tuesday at Lake View Cemetery for graveside services. The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Ronald Yatteau, David England, Thomas Miller and Lee Jordan for their care for the past 20 years and to Baptist Hospice. MORRIS, Ann Catherine,
age 33, died suddenly Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at her Knoxville home. She was a member of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church and attended Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Church Choir and attended the Thursday Night Bible Study Class. Ann was a member of Joni and Friends, Knoxville and DRC of Knoxville. She was a 1991 graduate of Bearden High School and attended Hollins University in Roanoke, Va. Ann is survived by her loving family: parents, Dr. Steven and Marcy Edmonds Morris of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Brian Ballard of Macon, Ga.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elsie H. Morris of Jackson, Miss.; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle H. Edmonds of Johnson City; uncle and aunt, James and Melanie Morris of Jackson; great-uncle, O.D. Morris; great-aunt, Peggy Gooch; cousins, Britain and Makenna Morris; second cousins, Brenda and Bill Litton. Funeral service was Wednesday at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church with Dr. William R. Barron and the Rev. Vernon Holstad officiating. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers: Brian Ballard, James Morris, Dr. Preston Shepherd, Dr. Robert Finelli, Dr. Tom Zarger and Dalton Townsend. Honorary pallbearer, Dr. Aubra Branson. CULBRETH, Brooke Marie (Boogie),
age 18, Daddy’s Princess and her Mom’s best friend, went home to be with the Lord suddenly Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at her Concord home. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Concord, where she was a childcare worker in the Concord Christian School. Brooke was manager of the Farragut High School Boy’s Soccer Team for the past four years, where she received “Manager of the Year” for the Region 3 of those years. She was an avid dancer and loved working with “Her Kids” in the Concord Christian School Day Care Program. Brooke is survived by her loving and devoted family: parents, Walter E. III (Wallie) and Donna Howard Culbreth; brothers and sister-in-law, Walter and Ashley Culbreth, Bradley Culbreth and girlfriend, Megan Vendley, all of Concord; paternal grandparents, Walter E. Jr. (Dude) and Peggy Culbreth of Davidson, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Regina Gayer and husband Bland of Pompano Beach, Fla., Jim Howard and wife, Marsha, of Franklin, N.C.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and “Her Boys,” The Farragut High School Boy’s Soccer Team. A celebration of her life was held Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Concord with the Rev. Dr. Steve Fultz, Wallie Culbreth, and the Rev. Dr. Craig Culbreth officiating. The family received friend following the service at the church. Pallbearers: brothers, Walter Culbreth and Bradley Culbreth; cousins, Josh, Jonathan, Jeremy and Todd Culbreth, Tyler Lee, Jack Summer. Honorary pallbearers, members of the Farragut Boy’s Soccer Teams for the past four years. Family and friends met Wednesday at Pleasant Forest Cemetery for an interment service. WOLF, Anne Ida,
age 92, of Knoxville, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at Shannondale Nursing Home. She was a member of Heska Amuna Synagogue. Mrs. Wolf owned and operated Quality Bakery with her late husband, Max Wolf. She volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at Fort Sanders Hospital and was an Air Defense Volunteer during World War II. She is survived by her sons, Barry Wolf of Knoxville and Rodney Wolf and wife, Brenda, of Memphis; seven grandchildren, Scott, Angela, Todd Wolf, Brad, Gary, Kelly and Dory Wolf; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Shersky of Knoxville. Family and friends met Wednesday at New Jewish Cemetery for a graveside service with Rabbi Louis Zivic officiating. Pallbearers: Tommy, Tyler, Brad, Gary, Scott and Todd Wolf, Monte Millen, Sam Abrams and Harvey Cook. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heska Amuna Synagogue, P.O. BURNS, Mary Estelle Jones,
age 92, of Knoxville, daughter of the late Milton and Maudie Staggs Jones of New Haven, Ky, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Parkwest Medical Center. Estelle was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church, Powell where she helped start “The Willing Hands Widows Ministry.” She was preceded in death by husband, Heirschell Richard “HR” Burns; and daughters, Carol Ann Newman and Betty Ruth Phibbs; son, Douglas Richard Burns; grandson, Steven Hurst. Estelle is survived by her loving family: daughters and sons-in-law, Stella Hurst of Maryville, Va., and Raymond Barger of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, Rankin “Buster” and Margaret Burns of Maiden, N.C., Kenneth and Phyllis Burns of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Burns of Rock Island, Ill.; grandchildren, Gary Hurst, Lynn Hurst, Crisley Hurst, Cynthia Barger, Ray Barger, Linda Rode, Diana Bush, John Burns, Heather, Heath and Alice Burns, Brian Phibbs, Chuck Phibbs, Kathy Stillman and Joy Day; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Kline and Bernice Mowder of Boise, Idaho; and Barbara Azzalin of Rock Island; a host of nieces and nephews and a very special thank you to Earl Vanderhoof and his wife, Betty, who passed away in May 2006 for their constant support and friendship. A special thank you to the staff of Atria Weston Place and the staff at Brakebill Nursing Home for their loving care. Funeral service was Thursday at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Clarence Sexton officiating. Family and friends met at Asbury Cemetery for a Friday interment service. BRADFORD, John Gordon,
age 73, passed away suddenly Oct. 7, 2006, at his Knoxville home. Gordon was a member of the Presbytery of East Tennessee and worshipped at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. He graduated form Presbyterian College, Clinton, S.C., and held masters degrees from Columbia Seminary in Decatur, Ga., and Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla. He served churches in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida and worked for the state of Florida. Gordon was involved in the Habitat for Humanity and Stephen Ministry of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. Prior to moving to Knoxville, he was active in New Hope Presbyterian Church and was a docent at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sarah Bradford; and a sister, Sara Hesch. He is survived by his wife, Seaton Kaderly Bradford; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Todd Stout of Plainfield, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Vicki Bradford; grandchildren, Lindsey Nicole Williams and Tyler John Bradford all of Tallahassee; his mother-in-law, Louise P. Kaderly of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Luther McGahee of Fayetteville, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life was held Tuesday in the chapel of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church with Dr. William R. Barron officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church. BANKS, Ray,
age 68, of Knoxville, went to be with his Lord, Monday morning, Sept. 25, 2006. He was a graduate of Fulton High School, attended Georgia Military Academy, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Banks was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. For many years he had been very active with youth in Halls where he had coached middle school football. He also was a longtime area high school football official. His passions were his grandchildren and support of The University of Tennessee athletics. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Raleigh Banks Sr. and Laura Monday Banks; a daughter, Deborah LeeAnne Banks; sister, Mildred Banks; brother, Charles Banks Jr.; nephew, Johnny Banks Jr.; sister-in-law, Marie Banks; and brother-in-law, Aaron Shipley. A beloved father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed by his survivors family which include his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Darby Campbell; son, Randy Banks, all of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and John Shull of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Shull, Reagan and Reese Campbell; sister, Allene Shipley of Knoxville; brothers, John Banks and wife, Carrye, and Bill Banks, all of Knoxville; former wife, Gale Banks; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff of Parkwest Medical Center for their care and compassion. Funeral service was Wednesday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with the Rev. Ed Carter and the Rev. Robert Bean officiating. Family and friends met at Rose Mortuary Thursday to travel in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for an interment service. Pallbearers: Johnny McCoy, Don Walker, David Banks, Mike Banks, Charlie Seymour, Jack Parks, John Shull, Mike Messer and Darby Campbell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Emerald Youth Foundation, 1620 N. Central Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. The family received friends Wednesday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

MASON, Robert Andrew,
age 38, of West Knoxville, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006. He is survived by his father, Larry Mason and wife, Rosann of Raleigh, N.C.; mother, Karen Norris and husband, Mike, of Spring Hill, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Mike Rucinski of Knoxville; and their sons, Michael and Mason Rucinski; brother, Matthew Mason of Wilmington, N.C.; two step brothers; and one step sister. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of East Tennessee, 1407 E. 5th Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. The family received friends Tuesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
