KING, John F.,
age 85, of Knoxville, died Thursday, March 29, 2007. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. King proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in the European theatre during World War II and as brigadier general of the Tennessee Defense Force. He was a civil engineer and had retired from TVA after 35 years service. He was a lifetime member of the American Society of Engineers, a state-registered land surveyor and state-licensed realtor. A committed volunteer, he worked for FEMA following Hurricane Hugo and in 1990, he and his late wife, Antoinette Evelyn Calumet King, were named as TVA Volunteers of the Year. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Merilen King, James and Kelly King; and grandchildren, Ashley and Madeline King. Funeral service was Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Al Humbrecht officiating. Interment followed at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. ROBINSON, Ellen Campbell,
age 96, of Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, March 29, 2007. She was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Maryville to Andrew L. and Anna Campbell. Ellen was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church and was active as a Sunday School teacher, in the choir and Girls Auxiliary. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Robinson, who died Dec. 14, 1986; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include her sons, Lester D. Robinson and wife, Janet, Jim Robinson and wife, Carol; three grandchildren, Lisa Robinson, Lester David Robinson and wife, Millie, Stacie Barker, all of Richmond; five great-grandchildren, Erica Robinson, Christopher Mathews, Austin Barker, Colonie Robinson and Adam Robinson; brother, John S. Campbell of Concord; sister, Nita Lynn Lawhorn of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Sunday, April 1, with funeral services following in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with the Rev. Catherine Nance officiating. JOUROLMON, Anne Sullins Dosser,
age 93, of Knoxville, died Friday, March 30, 2007. She was the only child of the late Rev. and Mrs. Sullins Dosser. Anne was a dedicated and devoted member of Church Street United Methodist Church where she served graciously on many committees and boards, Sunday School teacher and Circle Study leader for more than 50 years. She attended Sullins College and received her degree from the College of William and Mary. Anne worked tirelessly with the Knoxville YMCA as a girl reserve secretary for several years before going on to serve as Wesley Foundation director at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She and her husband, Neil, a fine photographer, traveled the world and she enjoyed narrating the slide shows of their travels. She was active in many community affairs and in her earlier days worked as a volunteer in various agencies, including serving on the board of the American Red Cross and as head of its nursing home program for many years. Anne received the Service for Mankind award from the West Knoxville Sertoma Club and was awarded for the Outstanding Volunteer service from the AOPI sorority. She was a member of the Ossoli Circle, Opti-Mrs. Club, the U.D.C., the D.A.R. and the Athene Circle, but her greatest joy was for her beloved Church Street United Methodist Church. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Jourolmon, after a marriage of 57 years. Anne is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Don Terrell of Front Royal, Va., and Mary Neil and Dana Woodward of Lake City; granddaughter, Margo Taylor and husband, Jimmy; great-grandson, Hunter Taylor, all of Andersonville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Tuesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with the Rev. William J. Fowler and the Rev. Cabel W. Trent officiating. Interment was private. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Christian Home Sunday School class. MILLER, Audrey B.,
age 76, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, at St. Vincent’s Hospice in Indianapolis, Ind. Audrey was a member of the Fellowship in Christ Church congregation in Carmel, Ind., where she served with her husband, the Rev. Ferris Miller. She was a graduate of Monroe (Mich.) High School and Ball State University of Muncie, Ind. She taught English and home economics in Muncie and Kokomo, Ind., for seven years. She joined Southern Bell Telephone Company in Knoxville and retired from ATT as a supervisor in 2001. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Candace Hart; grandchild, Aaron Leadens. Audrey is survived by her husband, the Rev. Ferris Miller; daughter, Sandra Miller Dick and husband, David; grandchildren, Lynn Leadens Mikels and husband, Eric, Jacob Hart, Benjamin Hart; four great-grandchildren, Sophia De-La-Rosa, Alexis Hart, Aaron and Clayton Mikels; one surviving nephew, Steve Cook and wife, Joanie. Family and friends met Friday at Pleasant Forest Cemetery for a graveside service with the Rev. Charles Riggs officiating. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
BREWER, Regina “Gale,”
age 63, of Knoxville passed away Thursday afternoon, March 29, 2007, at Parkwest Medical Center. Gale was known for her compassion and her love for life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Gale was a faithful member of Farragut Christian Church and a former member of Ball Camp Baptist Church. She was retired from The University of Tennessee. Gale was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Opal Martin. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Mason and Cindy Brewer of LaFayette, Ga., Kenneth and Angie Brewer of Knoxville; grandchildren, Macy, Madalyn, Garrett and Gavin; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Carl Burns of Kingston; several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Saturday followed by funeral services in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with the Rev. Jason Warden officiating. WILLIAMS, Raymond Henry “Dude,”
age 82, an East Tennessee gentleman of love, laughter, generosity, courage and compassion passed peacefully into the loving presence of his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at St. Mary’s Medical Center as a result of progressive heart failure. With him at his bedside were his beloved children, David Kelly Williams and Kathryn Williams McMillin, both of Knoxville. Waiting to greet him in glory was his devoted wife of 48 years, Edith Kelly Bundy Williams. Born Nov. 23, 1924, in Hampton, Ray was the Golden Glove Champion of the Southeastern Athletic Association in 1941. He completed Hampton High School in 1942 and entered Milligan College in Johnson City on a basketball scholarship. After one year, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was sent to officers’ training. He was transferred by ship to Hawaii, Guam and Saipan during the occupation of China at the end of World War II, keeping railroads open and assisting in the return of surrendered Japanese to their homeland. Because of his high marksmanship scores in basic training, Ray was one of five Marines flown from China to Hawaii for rifle competitions with the opportunity to participate in the national matches in Camp Perry, Ohio. He was discharged from the Corps July 8, 1946, again enrolling in Milligan College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in science and physical education Aug. 8, 1948. Seven days after that, he married his college sweetheart, Edith Kelly Bundy of Lebanon, Va., and within two weeks took his first job as athletic director/coach/teacher at Lamar High School in Jonesboro. On June 18, 1953, Ray was appointed special agent to the FBI, serving in Philadelphia, Pa., for a year and then Detroit, Mich., for 10 years, where his son, David, and his daughter, Kathy, were both born. This was followed by 14 years as a special agent in Minneapolis, Minn., during which he served on several high-profile cases. In April 1976, Ray was transferred to Knoxville, where he retired in 1977. During the last three years of his FBI career, he held the position of special agent supervisor. For more than 30 years, Ray was an active member of The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. He was a Medallion Member of Civitan International with 27 years of dedicated service. Also for 18 years, he was an active supporter and volunteer in Special Olympics of Greater Knoxville. He resided at Homewood Residence in Knoxville since 2001. Ray was preceded in death by parents, David Sherman and Mary Elizabeth Bowie Williams of Hampton, and his wife, Edith Kelly Bundy Williams. Survivors include his son, David Kelly Williams, and wife, Lucy Bowring Talikwa; daughter, Kathryn “Kathy” McMillin and husband, James “Jim” Clark McMillin; granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Williams; and special friend, Betty Coleman, all of Knoxville. The family received friends Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life service with the Rev. Ken Hall and the Rev. Shirley Delap officiating. Family and friends met at Tennessee Veterans’ Cemetery Tuesday for an interment service. A reception followed at Homewood Residence. Honorary pallbearers: James (J.D.) MCSPADDEN, Claude “Gerald,”
age 59, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2007. Jerry, as he was fondly known, was with his loving family in his final days. Jerry was a Central High School graduate and a Vietnam Veteran, who served as a U.S. Navy air traffic controller for four years aboard the U.S.S. Forestal. After the war, Jerry came home to finish his degree in real estate and property management from East Tennessee State University. He spent his career as president and managing partner of Walnut Square Development. Jerry also was owner and broker of Westbury Realty for many years. Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the Smoky Mountains, the beach, deep sea fishing and was an avid sports fan who, of course loved The University of Tennessee Football. Mostly he loved his three daughters and his grandchildren and spending time with each of them. He was often times involved with the girls’ home improvement projects. He was an avid animal lover as well. He is preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, a cousin and a niece. He is survived by his beloved daughters; oldest, Beth Gilbert and husband, Mike, and their children: Aerial and Aubry; his middle daughter, Emily McSpadden; and his youngest, Katie Loftin and husband, Casey, and their son: Gray; parents, CH and Dorothy McSpadden; sister, Susanne Marcum. Jerry also is survived by the mother of his three daughters, Brenda McSpadden. Other survivors include, niece, Julie Brennan and her children: Ryan, Caroline and Carson; his nephew, Keith Marcum and wife, Emily, and their children: Sarah Jane and Ethan; father-in-law, Gray Moore; sister-in-law, Debbie Pendleton and husband, Coy, and their children: Mandy and Adam. Of the many roles he played in life; son, brother and uncle, to name a few, what Jerry loved most were his role as father to his three beautiful daughters and his role as grandfather above all. He was dearly loved and is sadly missed by all his family. Funeral service was Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Paul Rader officiating. Following the service at the church, the family and friends met at Highland Memorial Cemetery for an interment service. Full military honors presented by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
