age 66, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007. He is the beloved husband of Carolyn C. DeWick; father of Robert S. DeWick Jr.; brother of Ralph E. DeWick and is preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Moore. Other survivors: nephews, David DeWick, Ronald DeWick and Mark Moore of Florida; niece, Sharon Moore of Texas; cousins, Mary E. age 16, of West Knoxville passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. Dustin was a sophomore at West End Academy. Dustin is survived by his parents, Michael and Gina Lee of West Knoxville; sister, Stacey Lee of the home; grandparents, Irma and Ed Coleman of Chapel Hill, N.C., Pat and Janet Lee of Benson, N.C.; aunts, Ashley Roberson of Raleigh, N.C., and Jan Lee of Benson, N.C.; uncles, Kyle Stembridge of Apex, N.C., and Tim Lee of Manassas, Va. ARMSTRONG, Charles Denny,
age 83, of Farragut, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007. He was a longtime member of Gillespie Avenue Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Mr. Armstrong proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for 39 years seeing action during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge and teaching ROTC courses at The University of Tennessee. He achieved the rank of colonel for his dedicated service. He earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in engineering from UT and worked until his retirement as an engineer for TVA and post-retirement as an engineering consultant for SAIC in Oak Ridge. Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Optimist Club. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Kathleen Davenport Armstrong; daughters and sons-in-law, Paige A. and David Hamilton of Knoxville, Karen A. and John Davis of Signal Mountain; grandchildren, Joshua and Nathan Hamilton, Anna, Charlie and Jacob Davis; and sister, Geraldine Boy of Durham, N.C. The family received friends Sunday followed by the funeral service at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hubbs officiating. age 84, of the Karns Community Knoxville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007. O.H. served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired after 36 years of service. He later worked as a machinist supervisor at Union Carbide Y-12 plant and retired after 35 years of service. O.H. was a member of the East Tennessee State Veteran Honor Guard for many years. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Susan “Sue” Burns Dunaway; daughters, Glenda and Beverly Dunaway; parents, Jim and Callie Dunaway; sisters, Gladys Anderson and Evelyn Emert; brothers, Orville and J.W. Dunaway. age 75, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, Dec. 18, 2007. Alvin was a member and deacon of Victory Chapel Baptist Church. He was a retired sales supervisor for the local Tom’s distributor. He was an avid Vol and Braves fan. Preceded in death by parents, Horace and Nena Wallace; sister and brother-in-law, Carol Lynn and Gale Andersen; brother-in-law, Harvey Boyd. Survivors: wife of 54 years, Reba June Wallace; son, Allan Wallace; sisters, Evelyn Boyd, Edna Crawley; and brother-in-law, Vernon Crawley; many loving nieces, nephews and friends. GUION, Lucille Nisbet,
age 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007. She was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Albemarle, N.C., daughter of the late Dr. Taylor and Loma Niven Nisbet. She lived in North Carolina until 1952, when she moved with her husband and children to Knoxville. Lucille was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and the Rosa Scott Sunday School class. She was active for many years in Women of the Church and worked as a volunteer in the nursery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Howard Guion; grandson, Taylor Guion; son-in-law, Robert Saunders; brother, Taylor Nisbet Jr.; sister, Emily Morrison. Survivors include her loving children: sons, Dr. Edwin Guion and wife, Donna, Douglas Guion and wife, Sandy; daughters, Susan S. Steele and husband, Sam, Mary Adams and husband, John, Julia Rose and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Howard Guion, Amanda Cooke, Caroline Mann, Lindsey Steele, Rachel McHale, Jessica Moore, Sarah Oyervides, Kathryn Guion, Zachary Adams, Emily Adams, Meredith Adams, Andrew Rose, Alex Rose and Daniel Rose. She also leaves great-grandchildren, Ella and Mason Guion, Jordan, Ashtyn and Ryan Cooke, Truda, Robert and William Gavin Mann, Patrick and Megan McHale, Nathaniel, Madelaine, and John Michael Moore and Maelynn Adams-Cook; twin sister, Louise Patrick of South Carolina; sisters, Douglas Davis and Carolyn McLean of North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. age 88, of West Knoxville, native of Rutledge, daughter of the late Wesley Guy and Betty Beulah McGoldrick Smith, passed away suddenly Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Parkwest Medical Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Concord, and the Willing Workers Sunday School class for more than 50 years. Edith also was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Tomie S. Brown; daughter, Willene Smith Brown; sisters, Ollie Katherine Smith Hodge and Margaret Rosetti Smith Moore. She is survived by her loving family: daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Johnny Johnston of Huntsville, Ala., Diane and Harry Lee Stout of Houston, Texas, Laura Beth Brown of Nashville; three grandchildren, five great-grandsons, a great-great-grandson; sister, Frances Smith Trent; brother, William Wesley Smith; sister-in-law, Roberta Shockley of Huntsville.
