Vincil, Thomas A. (Tommy), age 60, of Lenoir City passed away early Sunday morning October 15, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Tommy was a member, clerk and youth director of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and the Army 101st Airborne Division. Tommy was retired from Daniels Construction. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. chapter 109. White, Bobbie June, age 68, of the New Providence Community, Loudon, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 17, 2000, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. June was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a former member of New Providence Baptist Church, where she played the Piano for 24 years. June was preceded in death by her father, Robert Henry; granddaughter, Amanda Jo White. He was retired from Eaton Yale and Towne. Walter was preceded in death by his sons, Donald Ray Underwood and Walter Franklin Underwood Jr. (Frankie); parents, James and Mary Grubb Underwood; sisters, Nellie Mae Anderson, Mary A. Brown, Christine Rosalee Bishop, born May 22, 1921, of Lenoir City and Pemmaquid Beach, Maine, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2000 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Donald V. Brown of Lenoir City and their son, Donald Brown, Jr., of North Hollywood, California. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Nelson and Margaret Bishop of Lenoir City, her sister Erma Nell Greene of Atlanta, GA; her sister Anna Mae Bishop of Lenoir City and brothers A. B. Bishop and Samuel Nelson Bishop, Jr., of Washington, D.C. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Christine was a graduate of Lenoir City High School and was s student at Knoxville Business College. During World War II, Christine was one of the first 100 WAVES in the U. S. Navy. During her assignment at the U.S. Navy Communications Intelligence Station in Washington, D.C., Christine received the Presidential Unit Citation Award for her outstanding contribution in computer analysis of German military messages. She has since researched, written and published 16 Family Histories and was working on the 17th. For more than 20 years, she has directed the research project Surname Index for the State of Maine Library. She is a published author and past Regent of the West Knoxville DAR Chapter. A memorial service will be held at the West Hills Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building, 400 Kendall Rd., Knoxville at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19th. Lawson, Carroll Long Sr., age 84, of Lenoir City passed away Friday, October 20, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Carroll was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was retired from Union Carbide K-25 plant in Oak Ridge. Carroll was a member of Avery Lodge 593 F&AM. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Carroll was preceded in death by wives, Wilma D. Lawson and Frances Fisher Lawson; son, David Lawson; grandson, Butch Lawson; parents, Ira McDarius Lawson and Jacob Lawson; sister, Charmie Chapman; brother, Jake Lawson. Church, Jahue David Sr. (J.D.), age 85, of Knoxville, formerly of Elizabethton and White Sulphur Springs W.Va., passed away Friday afternoon October 20, 2000 at NHC Cavett Hill. J.D. was the former owner of David Engineering. He was a machinist, aircraft builder, farmer, husband, father and grandfather. J.D. was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Anna and Pat Church; son, Wayne Church; son-in-law, Bill Sutcliff. Hands, Shirley Ann, age 70, of the Tellico Village Community Loudon TN, formerly of Naperville Illinois and Clarendon Hills Illinois, passed away early Monday morning, October 23, 2000, at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Shirley and Richard Hands moved to the Tellico Village Community in 1990, and immediately became involved in the church, and in the Tennessee spirit of volunteering. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City TN. Caring for others was her signature in life. She was a registered nurse for many years in the Chicago area. Her last position was Director of Nursing at Franciscan Friary in Oak Brook Illinois. Later, she volunteered at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. As a care giver, she filled the lives of those she touched with hope and joy. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Devine and Genevieve Swift Devine. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Hands; Shirley was the beloved mother of six children, Janet Marie Price of Scottsdale AZ, Judith Elizabeth Reier of Andover MN, Jill Louise Butts of Naperville IL, Steven Michael Hands of Park Ridge IL, Paul David Hands of Sherborn MA and David Richard Hands of Chicago IL; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald Devine of Southfield MI and William Devine of Oxford MI; sister, Mary Lou Zaums of Lambertville MI; several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mary Annis Arnwine. Wright, Thomas Clyde (Tom), age 83, of Lenoir City passed away Friday, March 2, 2001 at the Park West Medical Center. Tom was a former member and Deacon of New Midway Baptist Church. He most recently attended White Wing Nazarene Church. He was a school bus driver in Roane Co. for over 30 years. Tom had also worked at Western Auto. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Wright; sisters and brothers, Annie Caudle, Carl Wright, Burton Wright, Robert Wright, Fannie Wright, and Luther Wright. Survived by wife, Velma Wright; daughter, Bobbie W. Finger and husband, Bill of Lenoir City; son, Thomas Lynn Wright and wife, Darlene of Kingston; granddaughters, Melissa Wright, Julie McGill and husband, Scott; grandsons, Thomas Martin Wright and wife, Mary, Rick Phillips and wife, Shane all of Kingston; great grandchildren, Jared and Thomas McGill, Tora and Brandi Phillips, Thomas Wayne (Marty) Wright; sister, Irene Ginn, St. Petersburg, FL; sister-in-law, Mildred McClanahan of Michigan; step-sons, David Arnold of Jonesborough, Gary Arnold of Virginia, Greg Arnold of Bristol, Timothy and Todd Arnold both of Virginia; 8 nieces and 7 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Paul and Nelle Davenport of Crossville. She is survived by her husband, Roy L. Simpson ; 2 sons and daughters-in law, Joe and Sandra Simpson of Lenoir City, Jim and Sandi Simpson of Knoxville; Daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Mark Robbins of Farragut; 7 grandchildren, Andrew and Natalie Simpson, Stephanie and Graham Simpson, Joseph, Jason and Justin Robbins; 3 sisters: Joanne Baltimore of Atlanta, Elizabeth Hollingsworth of Crossville and Willette Torian of Ocala, Fla.; 1 brother, James Davenport of Crossville; Several nieces and nephews. Cobble, Joe Allen, age 72, of Lenoir City, formerly of Fountain City, passed away early Sunday morning March 4, 2001, at Park West Hospital. Joe was a graduate of Central High School class of 1946 and attended the University of Tennessee. He was an accomplished artist and an avid golfer. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernest and Vorus Ware Cobble; brother, Jim Cobble. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Patten; son, Raymond George Patten; sister, Josephine Harris. Survivors: daughters, Nancy Baird and Margie Trollinger both of Lenoir City; sons, Allan Patten of Lenoir City and Rex Patten of Corryton; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Willie Gilliam of McDonough, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. He is survived by wife, Kimberly Zine; step daughter, Casey Schroeder of Vonore; father and step mother, Kenneth and Linda Zine of Braintree MA; mother and step father, Helen and Philip Blood of Loudon TN; sisters, Stephanie Zine of CA, Suzanne Zine of Madisonville TN; nieces, Kourtney and Brittany Zine; nephew, Troy Zine; several aunts, uncles and cousins. McKee, James, age 83, of Lenoir City passed away Monday afternoon March 5, 2001, at Park West Hospital. James was a member of Sixth Avenue Church of God. He was a Sgt. with the U. S. Marine Corp for 16 years. James was retired from Maremont Corp. He was preceded in death by parents, Fred McKee and Synthia Lynn McKee Wright; sisters, Lela Powers; brother, Howard Wright.
