Wiggins, James Ashley, age 69, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, July 24, 2006 in Elizabethton. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Italy. James attended First Presbyterian Church. Mary (Sue) Bryant, Of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 26, 2006. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. A former employee of Charles H. Bacon Hosiery in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by parents, Cecil Paul Hill and Rosemary Littleton; infant brother; grandparents, Sarah Williams, Lester Williams, Rev. Vonnie Hill and Mary Jane Johnson Hill. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Clyde Bryant; children, Loretta Sue Key and husband, Eddy of Lenoir City, Angie Kennedy and husband, Bruce of Kingston; grandchildren, Cody Key and Chris Williams; sisters, Priscilla Wolfe and husband, Jimmy of Athens, Rose Harvey and husband, Earl of Morristown, Pat Williams and husband, Eddie of Lenoir City; 3 half brothers; 1 half sister; several nieces and nephews. Claire Evelyn Horne, 85, died Wednesday evening, July 26, 2006 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee of complications of pneumonia. born in Bristol, Virginia in 1921, Mrs. Horne lived in Bristol, Tennessee most of her life and had resided in Knoxville, Tennessee since January 2005. Mrs. Horne graduated from Bristol Tennessee High School in 1939, Virginia Intermont College in 1941, and King College in 1943. She retired from Bristol Tennessee City Schools in 1982 after 34 years of service. During her long professional career, Mrs. Horne belonged to and served in various official capacities in many organizations including the Bristol Tennessee Retired Teachers Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the American Association of University Women, Bristol Music Club, and the Delta Kappa Gamma professional society for teachers. A lifelong Christian whose early church affiliation was with First Christian Church in Bristol, Virginia, Mrs. Horne belonged to the Seventh Day Christian Assembly of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a charter member of the Intercontinental Church of God in Kingsport, Tennessee where she attended services for many years. Mrs. Horne was a gifted musician whose great joy throughout life was performing in church to the glory of God. She continued in this service until age and failing health prevented her from doing so. Mrs. Horne was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel Clay Boyd and Kate Merriman Boyd, both of Waynesboro, Tennessee and two brothers, Eugene Clay Boyd and James Peyton Boyd, Sr., both of Bristol, Virginia. Survivors include Mrs. Horne's son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bruce Estes Horne and Janet Grant Horne of Knoxville, Tennessee; her step-granddaughter, Lori Ann Willson of Knoxville, Tennessee; her brother, Robert Herschel Boyd and his wife Barbara Dell Boyd of Duncanville, Texas; nieces Mary Inman Boyd Geiger and her husband Dr. Jim Geiger of Bristol, Virginia; Jayne Boyd Cameron and her husband Dr. Don Cameron of Greensboro, North Carolina; nephews James Peyton Boyd, Jr. of Abingdon, Virginia and Robert Edward Boyd of Duncanville, Texas; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Jessie Mae Krouse, 93, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Ft. Loudoun Medical Center. She was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Jessie was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the Ladies Auxillary. Shwe was preceded in death by husband, James C. (Bowser) Krouse; sons, Staff Sgt. James C. Krouse and Gilbert (Bunky) Krouse and grandsons, James Suits and Christopher Krouse. Survived by daughters, Glenda Suits and Marie Waters of Lenoir City; sons, Clyde Krouse and Marvin Gene Krouse of Lenoir City, Jack Krouse of California; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Cassata, Joseph, age 96, of Loudon, passed away Monday morning at the Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital. Joseph recently resided at the Neighborhood at Tellico Village. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was retired from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI. He was the uncle of John and Jeanette Cassata, Nanette and Bud Hebets, Nanette and John Hotchner and Lorraine and Frank DiBisceglie. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. Emma Jean Kizer, age 92, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday morning, July 3, 2007. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 75 years and was retired from J. C. Penney. She was a compassionate loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by parents, Stephen and Emma Fine; brothers, Allen Fine and J. B. Fine. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, James Bliss Kizer; son, Charles Kizer and wife, Gail of Lenoir City; beloved grandchildren, Buddy Kizer and Jama Cox; great grandchildren, McKenzie Kizer, Colby Kizer and Christian Cox; several nieces and nephews. Eula Martin, was born May 1, 1916, and married Guy V. Martin in April of 1941. Her husband, to whom she was indeed a true wife and helpmate, and by whose side she stood so many years, predeceased her. She was the light of his home and joy of his life. She was a noble, devout Christian woman who faced trials and troubles that would have broken the will of one without her faith. Her ability to face troubles and dangers with resolute courage, while managing to serve her family, church and friends with such a gentle spirit, mirrored the template of a Christian life instilled in her through prayer and cast by an ancestry of Christian believers, including her grandfather, the late Rev. Ripley Kizziah Benson, minister of Baptist churches in Salem, Nettleboro, and near Fulton, AL. She lived long among us, and the halo of her sweet life and the inspiration of her consecrated efforts to brighten and bless our homes, linger in our memories, gladden our lives, and quicken our impulse for good. She passed from our midst on July 3, 2007, at the age of 91, preceded in death by her parents, James Alpheus Benson and Roberta Clarke Benson, and by her brother, Elwis Benson. Eula is survived by her three sisters, Roberta Chevillon, Grey Tate, and Alice Taylor and husband, James Taylor; by her children, Sue Adams and husband, James Lee Adams, Guy Martin, Jr. and wife, Lynne Martin, Vicki Holton and husband, Greg Holton, Sr.; grandchildren, Vicki Davis and husband Kip Davis, Susan Glass and husband Mark Glass, Sarah Adams, Guy Martin III, Roy Martin, Lee Martin, Greg Holton, Jr. and Sue Ann Holton; and great grandchildren, James Davis, Susan Davis, John Davis, Elizabeth Glass, Mark Glass Jr., David Glass, and Hannah Glass. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Tellico Village, TN with Dr. Charlie Barnard officiating. Frank Joseph Murphy, age 83, of Farragut, TN, formerly of Wantagh, NY, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 3, 2007. Frank was a member of St John Neumann Catholic Church. He was an engineer in the aerospace industry, working with ITT Corp, IBM and retired from Northrup Grumman Corp. Frank was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp. He was an active member of the Civitan Club. He was an avid reader, loved to sail, build boats, fix cars and make home improvements. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McEntee; parents, Mae and Frank Murphy; sister, Mildred Murphy. D'Ooge, Charles L., age 84, of The Neighborhood in Tellico Village, Loudon, TN, formerly of Placerville, CA, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Knoxville. Charles was a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts. He was a veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Navy. Charles was a retired engineer, rocket scientist, and an avid aviator. He had been attending Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City where he was active with the choir. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. DOoge; parents, Benjamin S. and Genevieve DOoge. Survived by his children, Dr. Ben DOoge and wife, Judy, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN, Anne Griffin and husband, Andy, of Flagstaff, AZ, Keith DOoge and wife, Gloria, of El Dorado Hills, CA; grandchildren, Zachary, Wesley and Logan DOoge, Carl and Marian Griffin, Melissa and Matthew DOoge; brother, Leonard DOoge and wife, Marilyn of Columbus, OH; several nieces and nephews. Harrison, Mary McGuffey age 77, died July 8, 2007 at home. She was born in the Pine Orchard Community of Morgan County the daughter of John C. and Amy Zumstein McGuffey. She graduated from Oakdale High School in 1948. She received a degree in Home Economics from the University of Tennessee in 1952. She was the Home Demonstration Agent in Loudon County with the Agricultural Extension Service. Later she taught Home Economics at Loudon High School. She was a founding member of Fork Creek Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder. She served on the Board of Directors of Bachman Home for Boys and was involved in division and committee work with Presbytery of East Tennessee. She was the sister of James L. McGuffey, John C. McGuffey, Jr., and Loretta McGuffey Gallaway. Immediate family includes husband of 50 years, Charles Taliaferro Harrison, three sons, one daughter, and their families: Steve and Beverly Harrison of Loudon, Mark, Robert, and Rebecca; John and Dr. Celia Harrison of Philadelphia, Mary Lyndal, Sally Anna, John William, Charles Allen, and Amy Elizabeth; Paul and Melissa Harrison of Knoxville, George and Blaine; Amy and Robert Hinton of Lenoir City, Mary Grace and Granville. A niece, Ann McGuffey Brennan of Howell, Michigan, and her family, and a nephew, James L. McGuffey, Jr. of Stuart, Florida, and his family, and a number of cousins survive. A private family burial will be Tuesday morning at Harrison Family Cemetery in Loudon. A memorial service will be held at Christ our Savior Lutheran Church at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007, Pastor Jim Kirk officiating. The Church is located on Highway 72 nine miles east of Interstate 75 at Loudon. A reception shall follow the service.
