Bergey, Jason E. - age 32 of Lenoir City, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 8, 2007 at his home. Jason was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Bergey, Sr.; stepmother, Joyce Bergey; brother, Michael David Story; maternal grandparents, Mearl and Thelma Everhart; paternal grandparents, Emerson and Pearl Bergey; and Marsha Ulrich. Survived by his son, Jacob Bergey; mother, Lois Darlene Bergey; brother, Donald E. Bergey, Jr. all of Lenoir City; half brother, Paul Story of St. Joseph Michigan; a host of family and friends. Edwin T. Loy Sr., age 86, of Concord, passed away suddenly Monday, July 9, 2007 at his home. Edwin was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. He served in the Army during World War II. Edwin was preceded in death by his sister, Lorene Prater. He is survived by: Ruth Loy, wife of 66 years; children and spouses; Brenda and Mickey McCurry of Concord, Ed and Susan Loy of Concord, David and Sharon Loy of Germantown, TN, grandchildren; Kerry Loy of Nashville, Parker and Chandler Loy of Germantown, TN and K.K. Loy of Concord; sister, Rossie Mason of Knoxville. Rick Chaney, age 49, of Knoxville, TN passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 at his home. Rick was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. He was a avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family. Rick was employed by Alstom Power, Inc. Preceded in death by his parents; Raleigh and Mildred Chaney; brother, Robert Martin. Patricia Ann Harden Jernigan, age 47, of Sweetwater formerly of Seffner, FL passed away suddenly Sunday, July 15, 2007 at her home. She was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Patricia was a former employee of Kindred Health Care in Loudon. She is survived by her husband, Steve Jernigan; daughters, Lucia Everett and husband, Danny Keith Everett of Loudon, Melissa Lasorsa Bento and husband, Jorge Bento of NY; twin sons, Anthony Michael Harden of Seffner, FL and Robert Mathew Harden of Sweetwater and Seffner; grandchildren, Tylina Elizabeth Everett of Loudon and Marissa Vasquez of Lakeland, FL; step daughters, Rosa Martinez, Mary Ann Martinez and Josfina Martinez; sisters, Sharon Huff and husband, Larry, Ruth Sanders, Mary Harden and Charlotte Harrison; brother, Victor Harden; many loved nieces and nephews; friend and father of the twins, Raul Martinez. Nancy Joyce Slayton Krop, age 72, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN formerly of Algonquin, IL passed away Monday, July 16, 2007. She was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church and was retired from United Airlines. Preceded in death by husband, Eugene Krop; parents, Claude and Montie Slayton; brother, Herbert Slayton and grandson, Dustin Choklad. Survived by daughters, Kim Quillinan and husband, John of Winter Garden, FL, Kyle Krzewina and husband, Craig of Algonquin, IL, Kristen Gerulis and husband, Alex of Marengo, IL; grandchildren: Danielle, Jordan, Zachary and Trevor Choklad, Shelby Quillinan, Torie and Thomas Krzewina, James and Taylor Krempel, Alex Gerulis; several nieces and nephews. Jack Warren Baskette Jr., age 59, of Stone Mountain, GA went home to be with his Lord on Thursday July 19, 2007. A native of Tennessee, Mr. Baskette spent 35 years in the telecommunications business with his last employer being Avaya. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War after which he was honorably discharged as a Class 4 Medic. He received the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. Jack was loved by everyone who knew him and was involved in many charities, giving of himself and his donations. He secretly supported several churches, focusing on the church youth groups. He was actively involved with the Salvation Army and especially, battered women's programs. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Velma Baskette of Stone Mountain, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tim Ridings of Loganville, GA; mother, Ruth (Tootsie) Baskette of Lenoir City, TN; aunts, Reba Collins and Bernice Baskette, both of Lenoir City, TN, Pansy Honey of Carthage, TN. Jack was known as a grandfather to many animals. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Edith May Henegar Gilliam, age 79, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, July 20, 2007. Edith had a life long career in real estate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Esker Henegar and Leona Scott Henegar; 6 brothers and sisters. Edith is survived by her daughter, Carolyn McNew of Oak Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Kathy Gilliam of Knoxville; grandchildren, Paul Gilliam and wife Tiffany, Kelly Gilliam, Amy Scates and David Merriman; great grandchildren, Derek, Dustin, Alec and Thadd Gilliam; sister, Emma Jean Jones of Clinton; brother, Franklin Henegar of Lake City; several nieces and nephews. Michael Roush, age 44, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at his home. Michael was a native of Grand Haven, Michigan, and an employee of Whirlpool Corporation of Knoxville. Survivors include his life partner, Christopher Geyer also of Knoxville; parents, Norman and Mary Roush of Grand Haven; brother, Robert Black of Indiana; sisters, Pat Sullivan, Pam Deal, and Donna Weyek all of Michigan; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved three dogs; Isis, Rags, and Moo. Schnabel, Stanley Wilson, age 73, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, passed away Friday July 20, 2007 at his home. Stanley was a loving husband, father and especially loved his grandchildren. He was retired after 35 years of service from General Motors as an accountant. He served in the 3rd Armor Division of the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Samuel and Dorothy Wilson Schnabel. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois Cox Schnabel, sons, Bryan Stanley Schnabel and wife Patricia Schnabel of Oregon, Craig Roger Schnabel and wife Mandy of Indiana, Eric Lance Schnabel and wife Jessica of Ohio; grandchildren, Cameron Bryan, Janieve Elizabeth, Elyse Marie, Alec Bryan, Henry Martin, Margaret Vivian and Rose Abigail; brother, Roger Wilson Schnabel and wife Mary Ellen of Kentucky; uncle, Alan Wilson and wife Ruth Ann of Ohio; nieces, Cindy Schnabel Hall, Lisa Schnabel Schwartzenburg and Nancy Schnabel Dollar. Judy Meeks Place, age 57, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Winona, MS, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon, July 20, 2007. Judy was an very active member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a special part of every aspect of the church's ministry. She received her training as a registered Radiology Technologist with Baptist Hospital in Memphis. Judy was a loving wife and mother. She loved gardening, floral arranging and traveling. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frances Meeks who were of Winona, MS; brother, Charles Aaron Collins, Jr. Survivors: husband of 32 years, Dr. James G. Place II; daughter, Charmian Place of Knoxville; son, Gib Place of Memphis; sister, Gail Harbin Jones of Winona, MS; brothers, Francis Meeks of Knoxville, Pete Collins of Jackson, MS; mother-in-law, Lucille Place of Memphis; sister-in-law, Charmian Cooper of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. Shaver, Calvin C., age 80, of Lenoir City, passed away early Sunday morning, July 22, 2007. Calvin was a member of First Baptist Church, Lenoir City where he was a deacon, and was very active in the Senior Adult Group and Jim Springers Sunday School Class. Calvin was the retired owner of McCown & Son Produce Company in Knoxville and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean McCown Shaver; his parents, J.H. and Mary Shaver; his twin brother, Alvin Shaver; sisters: Pauline Barger, Alma Dyer and Helen Littleton. He is survived by his children: daughter, Janie Shaver and son, Van Shaver and wife, Sarah all of Lenoir City; grandchildren: Jeff Shaver and wife, Kelli, Kevin Bluford, Austin Shaver and wife, Brittany, and Evan Shaver all of Lenoir City; his most special friend, Marilyn Tatum of Lenoir City, Calvin leaves many special in-laws, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. William W. (Bill) Johnson, age 70, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday July 22, 2007. Bill was a member and Elder of Lenoir City Church of Christ. He was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Electa Johnson; brother, Eugene Johnson; sister, Mildred Johnson DePriest. Coffman, Billy Gene, age 72, of Knoxville, passed way Wednesday morning, July 25, 2007 at the Parkwest Medical Center. Bill was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a member of the Worship Choir, Paul Dawson’s Sunday School Class and the Homebound Ministry. He was retired from Levi Strauss after 43 years of service, 27 years as a truck driver. Preceded in death by parents, George and Edith Coffman; sister, Jerlin and a twin brother and sister. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Smith Coffman; 2 children, Billy Coffman and wife, Desiree of Hendersonville, Debbie Knight and husband, Chris of Knoxville; grandchildren, B. J. Malcolm, Benjamin S., age 88, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at his home. He served in the U. S. Army and Air Force in W. W. II. During W. W. II he was a surgical assistant at Nautilus Hospital in Miami, Florida. Ben was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #917 and was a heavy equipment operator for T. V. A. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Malcolm; daughter, Jean Holliday; parents, Benjamin and Lulu Thomas Malcom and brothers, Laurence Malcolm and Carl Malcolm; . He is survived by his son-law, John Holliday; granddaughter, Jalana Cooper and husband, Tony; great grandchildren, Abigail and Peter Cooper; brothers, Robert Malcolm and Paul Malcolm and sisters, Betty McCoy and Glady Creager; nephew, Grady Johnson and great nephews, Donald Dixon, Kevin Todd and James Dixon. Nelson, Bonnie Jean McCray, age 60, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by a loving husband, Robert, one son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Megan, of Lindenhurst, IL., one brother, Richard (Peggy) McCray, and an aunt, Laura Turney, of Columbus, Ohio, nephews, Scott (Marjorie) McCray, Jeff (Susan) McCray, great nieces and great nephew, and many cousins. She is predeceased by parents, Warren and Ruby McCray. Bonnie graduated from The Ohio State University and Elmira College and taught in schools in Columbus, Ohio; Wood County, West Virginia; and Corning, New York. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Sorority. She was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church and enjoyed participating in many organizations and activities in the Village. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31st at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Marty Singley officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. Conrad, Ernest John, Jr., age 82, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday July 26, 2007 at the U. T. Medical Center. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a lifelong Fireman with the Hawthorne Fire Dept. in New York and was a founding member of the East Roane County Volunteer Fire Dept. Preceded in death by wife, Mary Elizabeth Conrad; son, Ernest (Skip) Conrad II; parents, Ernest and Anna Conrad. He is survived by his son, Thomas Peter Conrad; nieces and nephews, Joyce Rheichardt of Putnam, N.Y., Judith Gail Kitts of Carmel, N.Y., James Messenger of New Town, Conn., Joseph Messenger of Meridan, Conn., Barbara Oviatt, Linda Messenger both of Lafayette, CO, Laurie Messenger of Florida, Jerry Conrad of Mamaroneck, N.Y., Betty Lou Maripodi of Ossing, N.Y., Bernadette Sullivan, Peter Conrad both of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. and Patti Capeza of Mass. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman with Father Michael Sweeney. Burial will follow in Bradbury Cemetery. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
