Kimmons, George Harvey, age 85, of Farragut passed away March 23, 2004. He was retired as manager of the Office of Engineering, Design and Construction at TVA, where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the Permanent International Association of Navigation Congress (PIANK), and inducted into the University of Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame. George was a veteran of World War II serving with the Naval Air Corp in the Pacific. He played middle infield for the University of Mississippi baseball team. George was a member of Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors: wife of 56 years, Margaret Kimmons; son and daughter-in-law, George H. Kimmons Jr. (Kim) and Cheryl Ann (Cherie) of Farragut; grandchildren, Emily and Patrick; sister, Mrs. J. R. Patterson of Oxford, MS; two nephews, George Garland (Pat) Patterson and James R. Wegienek, Donald A., age 73, of Tellico Village Community in Loudon, formerly of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004. He was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and a former member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Donald retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a volunteer with the SCORE Program and various community organizations in Tellico Village and Plymouth. A graduate of St. Mary's of Orchard Lake, Michigan and University of Detroit Mercy. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ethel Bryzek Wegienek; children, Karen (Dr. Bruce Dubin), Stephen (Nancy, nee Teegarden), Michelle (Dr. Donald Zelazny); grandchildren, Scott, Wegienek, Dennis Wegienek and Andrew Zelazny. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City with Father David Boettner officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Tudor, John Julian, age 84, of Farragut, Tennessee passed away on March 21, 2004. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Palm Bay, Florida and a past member of Central Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He retired in 1981 after 32 years from Union Carbide, Oak Ridge, where he received many awards and was credited with several patents in engineering design. He was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps during World War II and continued serving in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a lifetime member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and authored many arcticles in various model aircraft magazines. He was a charter member of the Knoxville Chapter of the United Ostomy Association. He played clarinet in orchestras at both churches in Oak Ridge and Melbourne. He enjoyed drawing and painting. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hubert G. and Helen Crane Tudor; brothers; Philip C., Charles C. and James R. Tudor; sister; Mary Stewart. Survivors include sons Sky Tudor, Anchorage, Alaska, John Tudor, Jr., Broomall, Pennsylvania and daughters Sarah Watkins, Lancaster, Kentucky, Julia Rodgers, Sandy Valley, Nevada, Tanya Guidry, Las Vegas, Nevada and Traci Harvey, Lenoir City, Tennessee, 12 grandchildren, five great grand children, brother William P. Ruggles, Elaine M., age 66, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Chicago, Il, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at NHC Farragut. Elaine was retired from National Health Care as a Regional Nurse after12 years of service and a life devoted to nursing. She was a devoted mentor to many of her NHC family members. Elaine was an avid of supporter of East Tennessee Children's Hospital through her donations of hand crocheted newborn outfits. She was preceded in death by father. Ray, Robert Bruce (Bob), age 80, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly Monday, March 22, 2004 at his home. Bob was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority as a Civil Engineer and was a veteran of WWII. Bob was a member of the Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Association and was active with various local woodcarving groups. He was preceded in death by Doris Gwinn Ray, his wife of 49 years. Long, Donald L., age 59, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away March 23, 2004, following a short but courageous battle with cancer. He retired in 2002 as the Plant Manager of Boeing Oak Ridge after a 36 year career with the company. Prior to that he was with the Boeing Company in Seattle as the Director of Operations and Director of Manufacturing for the 767/747 divisions at the Everett Plant. He was raised on a farm in Lamar, CO and never forgot his connection to the earth and to the values of being raised in that environment. Don was an outgoing individual who was generous with his friendship in his professional as well as his personal life. He faced challenges directly and decisively however difficult the situation. He had unconditional love for his family and friends. After retirement his major interest was riding his Harley-Davidson, his dream machine, and he was able to have some memorable rides with close friends and biking buddies. Don was never afraid to do the things that he loved and pursue his dreams. And most of them came true!! He loved to laugh and share good times. He will be missed by those who were lucky enough to have called him husband, brother, uncle and friend. Don was preceded in death by his daughter and only child, Lisa; his parents, Herbert and Stella Long; parents-in-law, Tom and Joyce Brantley. Girolami, Dr. Roland L., age 79, of the Tellico Village Community Loudon, passed away Thursday March 25, 2004 at his home following a massive coronary failure. His widow, Nina, was with him at his time of death. They had been married for 54 years. Dr. Girolami was born in Milwaukee and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in W. W. II in the South Pacific war theatre. Dr. Girolami was a retired microbiologist for 33 years with Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Ill. and he and his wife had lived most of that time in the Chicago surburb of Libertyville, Ill. He received BS, MS and PhD degrees from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Following his graduation he was employed for about a year at Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Dr. Girolami was a 50 year member of the American Society of Microbiology. Following his retirement, he was an early member of the Tellico Village Woodworkers Club and had built Christmas toys for the Loudon County children for the past 5 years. In addition to his interest in boating, Dr. Girolami was an avid golfer. Survivors besides his wife include 2 brothers, Quin and his wife Doris of Naples, Fla. and Victor and his wife Gail of Northfield, Mi. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews. Archie was retired from the U S Army with 22 years of active service. Flanery, Ruby McDaniel, age 73, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at her home. She retired from Yale & Towne after 27 years service. Ruby was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, John W. Flanery; parents, Dewey and Lula McKee McDaniel; sister, Kathleen Chapel. Survived by daughter, Johnnie Faye Roberts of Sevierville; sons, William Flanery of Knoxville, John W. Flanery of Russellville and Joseph Flanery of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Jimmy Roberts, Brandy Flanery and Sheena Russell; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Polly Evans of Washington; brothers, Bobby McDaniel of Lenoir City and Carl McDaniel of Florida; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. D. J. Smith officiating. Family and friends will gather at Click Funeral Home by 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for 12 noon graveside services.
