Mary Harold, age 64, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Sweetwater Hospital. Mary was a member of Signed, Sealed and Delivered Outreach Ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Harold; father, John H. Bowers; mother, Irene Davis Bowers and sister, Dorothy Peeler. Mary is survived by her children, Donald William Harold and wife Lisa, Mary Jane (Janie) Pettiford and husband Glenn, David J. Harold and wife Tracy, Joyce A. Smith and husband Jeff, Billy Wayne (Bill) Harold and wife Linda, Steve Harold and wife, Farah; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Dickie, Gary, Doug and Keith Harold, Teresa Newburn, Tony Maze, Tanya Lovett, Junior Stephens, Tammy Stevens, Lea Stevens and Lou Stevens; special friends, Janet McMahan, Larry and Helen Aikens, many other church family and friends, including: Connie and James Snowden, Stephanie and Rick Sutton, John Todd. Katherine McKee Franklin, age 69, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Baptist West Hospital. Katherine was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by parents, James and Mabel McKee and brother, John McKee. Katherine is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jesse P. Franklin; daughter, Linda Shoffner and husband, Alex of Lenoir City; sons, James Wayne Franklin and wife, Debra of Strawberry Plains, Charles Lee Franklin of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Dewayne John Paul Franklin and Sarah Olivia Franklin; great grandchildren, Jaden Lennox and Jacob Franklin; brothers, Junior McKee of Lenoir City, Jack McKee of Deer Lodge, Steve McKee of Lenoir City and Frank McKee of Loudon; several nieces and nephews. Jamie Sue Linder Eldridge, age 47, on 17 March 2007, her long and brave struggle with Melanoma ended. Jamie was greatly admired for her strength and uplifting nature, as she traveled through her journey to begin her eternal life in heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, James Linder; nephew, Matthew Hope. She is survived by her husband, Matt Eldridge; son, Steele Linder Eldridge; mother, Margaret Young May and husband Johnny of Kingston; step father, Ted Fields of Crossville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Wayne Hope of Kingston, Cilla Linder of Knoxville, Tricia and Scott Ferguson of Knoxville; nephews, Jameson Hope and Curtis Ferguson; niece, Casey Ferguson; great nephew, Mackinley Hope. Jamie grew up in Crossville and graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a BS degree in Journalism and English with minors in Spanish and History. She began her career with the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro as Features Editor and was a reporter/state correspondent for the Nashville Tennessean. Jamie was Managing Editor for West Side Story, Copy Editor for the Knoxville Journal and was Managing Editor for the Monroe County Advocate and Democrat. She wrote two books, the Fifty Year History of the Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church and the official history of the Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service (in editorial production). She was also a contributor to the Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture. She was Editorial Assistant for Dr. Milton Klein in the production of his final book. Jamie served as Archives Librarian at the University of Tennessee Special Collections Library, leaving to raise her son Steele. Dr. Lane G. Adams, age 82, of Farragut died Sunday morning, March 18, 2007 at Park West Medical Center. In ten years as an associate evangelist for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Lane Adams conducted 43 citywide crusades in five nations, taught counselor training classes and was soloist for other Associate Evangelists. In 40 years of ministry, he authored two books, planted a new church, pastored six churches, including one congregation of over 4,000, and was vice-president and executive director of Lloyd Ogilvie Ministries, Inc. In addition, Dr. Adams had a variety of experiences rarely found in a minister, from Navy fighter pilot to Big Band singer to banking and hotel management. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Annette Burr Adams; daughter and son-in-law Susie and T.M. Moore; grandchildren, Kevin Moore and wife Amy, Kristy Bobb and husband Andy, Ashley Moore and Casey Moore; great-grand children, Patrick, Charlie, Savannah, Maggie, Joey, Kassidy, Taylor, August, Cosette and Evalena; brothers, Brick and Billy. Fredrick Thomas Boatner, of Lenoir City, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed from this life March 19, 2007 at age 73. A native Mississippian, he was born December 26, 1933 in Picayune, Mississippi and moved as a child to the Gulf Coast, living most of his life in Long Beach, Mississippi. He relocated with his family to the Tennessee Valley in the late 70s to be closer to their favorite vacation spot, the Great Smoky Mountains. Most of the last 30 years he resided in Lenoir City, where he had his own business designing and building custom homes until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir City. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clayton and Margaret Boatner, and brothers Bobby Glen and Harold Boatner. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Boatner of Lenoir City; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Suzanne Boatner of Loudon; son Michael Boatner of Lenoir City; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Jack Swan of Naples, FL; grandchildren Jason Boatner and wife Tabitha of Knoxville, Rachael Ireland and husband Greg and daughter Taylor of Naples, FL, Kristin Boatner of Lenoir City, Summer Swan of Naples, FL, Chase Reeves of Naples FL, and David Boatner of Loudon; brother and sister-in-law James and Carolyn Boatner of Waxhaw NC; sister Judith Boatner of Long Beach MS; sister-in-law Patricia Jefcoat of Longview TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Bessie T. Bailes, age 88, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Summit View of Farragut. Bessie was a member of the Church of Christ. She was retired from Yale & Towne. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Bailes; son, Clayton (Tinker) Bailes, Jr.; sisters, Beulah Taylor and Margie Brogdon; brothers, Herman Taylor and Bob Taylor. Shields Winford Smith Sr., age 72, of Farragut passed away Tuesday March 20, 2007 at Park West Medical Center. Shields was born in Concord on September 14, 1934 to Carson and Eula Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church Concord. He was a graduate of Farragut High School Class of 1952. Shields served with the U S Army during the Korean Conflict and played on their traveling football team. After his military service, he came back to finish his education. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College Class of 1960, and lettered in three sports, baseball, football and basketball. Shields received a masters degree in science from the University of Tennessee. He coached football at Harriman and later was an FBI agent for 10 years. Shields retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems Inc. as Head of Security after 22 years of service. He was an avid outdoors man and loved to play golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willard Smith; special cousin, Jimmy Morrison; step daughter, Pamela Wilkerson Young; step grandson, Gabriel Harris. Nicholas Gray Vivori, age 24 of Knoxville went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, March 19, 2007. He was a precious son and brother. Nick was born in Fairfax, VA and currently lived in Denver. CO. He graduated from Chattahoochee High School in Alpharetta, GA in 2001. He attended the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and the University of Colorado. He loved the out doors; snow skiing, water skiing, boating, bicycling and hiking were among his favorites. Nick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Nora Gray Key Locke, Grace and Frank Guinn all of Knoxville, Jean Vivori. Joe D. Shubert, Sergeant First Class U.S. Army Retired, age 73, of Loudon, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007. He was of the Baptist faith. Joe was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served 22 years in the U. S. Army. He received the Soldiers Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge for his actions in Vietnam. Joe was a machinist working at Southern Railway and Y-12 Plant at Oak Ridge. Dorothy Tyrrell, age 90, of Farragut, formerly of Martinsville, IN, died March 23, 2007 at Summit View nursing home in Knoxville, TN. She and her husband Claude retired to Mission, TX in 1974. After his death in 2000, she moved to Knoxville. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Claude Tyrrell; parents Arthur and Ella Tedrow; sisters Mary Tedrow and Ruth McDaniel; brother Albert Tedrow all of Martinsville. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Miran Tyrrell of North Augusta, SC, Max and Brenda Tyrrell of Farragut, TN; grandchildren Aaron, Amanda, Avery and Sara; brother Warren Tedrow of Martinsville, IN; sisters-in-law Lorene and Norma Tedrow. Juanita Weaver, 93, of Farragut, TN died peacefully Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Her passing on the first day of spring was fitting, as she lived to see her favorite season of the year with its beautiful flowers that she loved so much. born on January 14, 1914, in Lakeland, Florida, Juanita was the daughter of Oscar Elliot and Lola Mae Cavin. Juanita, known as Nita to everyone, was raised in Springfield, MO and attended Southwest Missouri State University. She enjoyed a vibrant and full life, living in many different parts of the country she loved so much, and exploring the world with her lifelong companion, husband Sam. Nita and Samuel Lee Weaver were married in Springfield in 1936. The young couple moved to North Dakota for 6 years before moving back to Missouri with their infant son Samuel Cavin Weaver, eventually settling in the Branson/Hollister area. Nita and her sister Virginia owned and managed Ye English Inn in Hollister, raising two children while their husbands fought in World War II. Nita and Sam were well-loved fixtures in Branson and Hollister, and jointly owned and operated Weaver’s Furniture Store and National Motel Supply until their retirement in 1975. Nita remained in Branson for many years after her husband Sam passed away, eventually moving to Farragut in 2005 to be close to her son and daughter-in-law. Throughout her life, Nita was very active in the Branson community. She co-founded the first Kindergarten in Branson and started the first Cub Scout unit in the Branson/Hollister area. Nita also volunteered extensively with PEO, an organization of professional women that provides local and international scholarships, and served as a Red Cross volunteer for many years. She was an active member of the Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, where husband Sam was a perpetual deacon and Nita taught adult Sunday school and kept the chapel running smoothly as a member of the altar guild. Nita was a joyful, kind, and loving soul, and in her time she was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was bright and engaged throughout her years, never losing her zest for life. Every day was treated as a gift and Nita always dressed and looked her best. She was still giving Bridge lessons to family and friends at the age of 93. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Elliot and Lola Mae Cavin; sister, Virginia Boehm, and husband of 55 years, Samuel Lee Weaver. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel C. and Carol J. Weaver, Knoxville, TN; grandson Samuel P. Weaver and his fiancée Margaret Lavin of Boulder, CO; grandson and wife, Daniel Weaver and Jenny Knight of Boulder, CO; three great-grandsons, Benjamin, Dylan, and Samuel. She is also survived by loving niece and her husband Judith and Don Luth of Land O Lakes, Florida, and their son and daughter-in-law Scott and Michelle Luth and their children Virginia and Anna Jordan, and their son and daughter-in-law Chad and April Luth and their children Taylor and Riley. She is also survived by loving niece Karen Clarke of Ashland, Oregon, and her son and daughter-in-law Josh and Jennifer Clarke and their son Jayden. Walter Lee (Skip) Gembarowski, age 57, of Knoxville, formerly of Midland, MI, passed away suddenly on Monday morning, March 26, 2007 at his home. Skip was of the Lutheran faith. George Gordon Lane, age 81, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday 26 March 2007. Gordon retired from the U.S. Army as a Command Sergeant Major with 22 years of service. He began his military career in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII, being placed on remote Pacific islands as part of an early warning radar unit. After the war he returned to Knoxville but subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army, fought in the Korean War and remained on active duty until retirement. Gordon was awarded the Silver Star, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and numerous other awards and decorations for his heroism and accomplishments. After retiring from Army, he was the transportation manager for Briggs Industries. He was preceded in death by his son, James Lane; mother, Mary Kate Hankins; sister, Darless Lane Johnson and her husband I.O. Johnson. Survivors: wife of 57 years, Margaret Lane; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Denise Lane of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Scott Quimby of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren Anthony, Kelly and Kacy Quimby, Jackie and Brandon Lane; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Billie Sue Lane of Rossville, GA; several nieces and nephews and numerous other family and friends. Penny May, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN passed away Monday, March 26, 2007 at the age of 67 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. Penny was born in Chicago, Illinois to Mary and Ben Anderson. She graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, Illinois, attended and graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. She was a resident of Oswego, Illinois for 35 years and taught school there for many years. Penny and her husband, Ron moved to Tellico Village in 1999 after retiring. While in Tennessee, she taught G. E.D. for 5 years after having taught G. E. D. In Illinois for 25 years. Penny also did income tax work for 35 years. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by her husband of 45 years, Ron; son, Rocky and wife, Jackie of Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren, Jacob, Mario, Mary Katherine and Charles Ronald. A visitation will be held Wednesday March 28 in the narthex of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City from 6-8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church celebrated by Father David Boettner. Following the funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle, the body will be sent to Dieterle Funeral Home in Auruoa, IL for a visitation and memorial service. Interment will be in Montgomery, IL. In lieu of fowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Helen Mehaffey, age 67, of Greenback, passed away March 17, 2007 in Georgia where she had been residing with her daughter. She attended Axley Chapel Church United Methodist Church. Survived by children; grandchildren; brothers; sisters, many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31st at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City.
