Benson, Martha Ouida, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, passed away Saturday evening, May 7, 2005, at her home. She was born in Moulton, Alabama, the youngest child, to Tennis and Luna Bert McMillan. At the age of three she moved with her family to Marietta, Oklahoma, back to Moulton for approximately a year and then back to Oklahoma. Upon graduation from Marietta High School, Ouida went to Oklahoma A&M for a time before applying for and being accepted into flight attendant training. Upon graduation she became a stewardess for TWA based in Chicago. She then moved to Detroit where she worked as a secretary and office manager for an automotive manufacturer, architectural firm, a sales person for a real estate company and a paralegal. Ouida retired in 1993 as assistant to the superintendent for Warren Woods Schools. She moved with her husband Bob Deane to Tellico Village. Mr. Deane passed away in 2001 and Ouida became Mrs. Gerald Benson in 2002. Ouida was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church where she conceived and worked with a sister to paint the portrait of Pastor Emeritus Carl Burke, which hangs in the Narthex of the church. She was an avid skier, golfer and sailboater. She was a member of the Gross Pointe Sail Club and a qualified small vessel sailboat captain in the British Virgin Islands. In Tellico Village she belonged to the Village Players, performing as female lead in five of the seven theatrical productions in which she appeared. She served on the board of the Tellico Village Cruising Club and was one of the first T-Bart Captains. Ouida was also a member of the Ladies Golf League, Illinois Club, Retired Airlines Employee Club, Home Owner’s Association and American Wine Society. Preceded in death by her first husband and her parents; brothers: Arnold, Melvin and Cecil McMillan; sisters, Johnnie Brett and Helen Tooker. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Benson. Although she did not have any children of her own, she was very proud of her three step-sons: Greg Benson and wife, Karen of Birmingham, MI, Jerry Benson and wife, Ann of Chapel Hill, NC, Michael Deane and wife, Beth of Palm Harbor, FL; and her eight step- grandchildren: Steven, Sue, Thomas, Andrew, Jennifer and Nicole Benson, Robert and Joe Deane, easily winning a place in their hearts; sister, Tomi Carlyn of Lawton, OK. along with several nieces and nephews who hold her very close to their hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2005,at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Martin Singley officiating. Entombment will be in the church columbarium. Nairn, Vera Katherine “Blake”, age 90, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 at the Farragut Healthcare Center in Tennessee. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Port Huron, Michigan and was retired from Prestel Light in Port Huron and Winnebago in Iowa. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, David Nairn; children, Donna, Nancy and Roger Blake; parents, Adam M. and Bertha K. Thiel; sister, Mary E. Brown and twin brother and sister, Jean M. White and Jane M. McDonald. She is survived by her brother, John T. White of Port Huron, Michigan and sister, Beverly B. Mills of Tennessee, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev, Greg Harper and Rev. David Smith officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Port Huron, Michigan with Rev. Robert McFarland officiating. O’Neal, Nell Sue, age 83, of Greenback, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Ft. Loudoun Medical Center. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was active in W. M. U. and the choir. Preceded in death by brother, Fredrick Neal Skeen. Survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond O’Neal; son, Jerry O’Neal and wife, Sherry of Knoxville; grandsons, Byron O’Neal and wife, Noelle of Colorado Springs, CO and Chad O’Neal of Knoxville; brother, Mack Skeen and wife, Katherine of Maryville; sister, Frances Weeren and husband, Herman of Oak Ridge; several nieces and nephews. Ray, Robert K., age 77, of Knoxville, formerly of Athens, TN, died suddenly May 16, 2005 at Park West Hospital. Robert served in the U S Navy in World War II. He retired from TVA as an Associate Engineer after 30 years of service. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Ray and Nina R. Ray. Survivors: wife of 53 years, Wanda M. Jones, Kenneth, age 87, of Knoxville, formerly of Buffalo, NY and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 24, 2005 at Baptist Health Care Center after a long illness. Kenneth was a member of the Church of the Good Samaritan, Episcopal and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. As a veteran of World War II, he served as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force before transferring to the U.S. Army Air Corp. After the war, Kenneth built, and later retired from, the K.A. Jones Insurance Agency in Buffalo and Arcade, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vida Jones; son, Scott Jones and his brother Stanley Jones and wife Marion of Orchard Park, N.Y. Phillips, Rev. Samuel Raymond, age 86, of Lenoir City, departed this world, Wednesday, May 25, 2005. He has taken up residence with the Lord. During his ministry, he pastored at Cave Creek Baptist Church in Roane Co., Jackson Chapel and Calvary Baptist Church in Loudon, Silver Ridge Baptist Church in Lenoir City, and Shady Grove Baptist Church in Knox Co. For many years he was active in Jr. O. U. A. M., he was also active in the American Legion before his health turned bad. Raymond served in the U. S. Army during W. W. II where he met and married his wife. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Grantham Phillips; parents, Sam and Xymena Phillips; brothers, Ed, James and Wilker Phillips; sisters, Lucille Johnson, Mary Crowe and Margaret Phillips and step-grandson, Lee Russell. He is leaves behind, sons, Ron Phillips and wife, Veda, James Phillips and wife, Lynn and John Phillips and wife, Dawn; brothers, Roy Phillips and wife, Margaret, John Phillips and wife, Frances and Howard Phillips and wife, Joyce; sisters, Ruth Heath, Jessie Mae Parrish and Betty Sue Freels and husband, Bill; several grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. McDonald, Ellen Mae, age 60, o f Loudon, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Baptist Hospital West. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Co-Owner of McDonald Recycling. Lindsey, Roy Haskel, age 85, of Farragut passed away Monday morning, May 30, 2005 at Park West Hospital. Roy was retired from the U S DA as a Soil Conservationist with 25 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U S Army in England. He was a member of St John Neumann Catholic Church. Roy was preceded in death brother, George H. Welch, Ray Orville “Mickey”, age 75, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, May 30, 2005 at his home after a 20 year battle with numerous illnesses. Mickey served in the Korean War with the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Welch; mother; Willie Silcox Welch; brothers, James Welch of Lenoir City and Bennie “Bud” Welch of Loudon; sisters, Edith Carr of Antioch, Evelyn Johnson of Lenoir City and Agnes Spears of Lenoir City; father-in-law, W. C. McMahan; mother-in-law, Josephine McMahan; special uncle, Gene Lane. Hachmann, Christopher Lee “Chris”, age 32, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday evening. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy and was an avid hunter. He was a good man and a loving husband. He was preceded in death by his father, David Lee Hachman; grandparents, Rose Hachmann Marquette, Jack Hachmann and Earl Stine; aunts and uncles, Jacki Hachmann, Daniel Hachmann and Dennis Hachmann Sr . Chris is survived by his wife, Shauntel Hachmann; mother, Nancy Stine Hachmann; sisters, Nichole Schmit and husband, Brian, Sheena Hachmann all of MN; nephew, Zachary Fagre; grandmother, Waiva Stine of MN; aunts and uncles, Dale Hachmann of Wis., Dean Hachmann and Una Hachmann of MN, Roy and Tonya Herrschaft, PA., Nancy Hachmann of Lenoir City, Sherri and Norman Cory, Joyce and Gene Heald, Bob and Joanne Stine, Paul and Jodi Stine, Sheila Nelson all of MN and Wayne and Karen Stine of WA and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville with military honors. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is serving the family of Chris Hachmann.
