Weatherly, Eula Ethel Speers, age 90, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday evening, November 30, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a member of Oral Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Garlie Gilbert (G.G.) Weatherly; son, Ronald G. Weatherly; parents, Ira and Amanda Speers; brothers, Fred Speers, Harold Speers and Kenneth Speers. Preston, George Wilson, of Lenoir City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2007. He was a member of Sixth Avenue Church of God, where he served as music minister, Sunday School teacher and superintendent. George sang in several quartets in Loudon County. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U. S. Marine Corps. He fought for our country in the South Pacific, (Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and others). George was present for the occupation of Nagasaki two weeks after the atomic bomb was dropped. He was a retired carpenter, builder, and antiques dealer. George was also a member of the First Families of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Wilma Preston; brother, Frank and son-in-law, Don Lane. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Ailene Ellis Preston; children: Carolyn Lambert and husband, Larry of Loudon, Darlene Lane Harden and husband, Bill of Lenoir City, Bill Preston of Townsend, Tony Preston of Lenoir City, Leonard Preston and wife, Kris of Lenoir City, Brad Preston and wife, Rebecca of Vonore; grandchildren, Jennifer Decker, Ashley Lane Clark, Nathan Lane, Benji Lambert, Cody Lambert, Hannah and Will Preston, Spencer Preston, and Kylie Preston; great grandchildren, Brayden and Bailey Decker, Zella Lane; sisters, Mae Moser, Fay Moser and Sue Sheffield; along with many nieces and nephews. Gaston, Robert LeRoy, age 66, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday evening, November 1, 2007 at his home. Robert was of the Baptist Faith. He was a retired carpet layer and an avid gardener. Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Clyde Gaston and Ester Walker Gaston and his nephew, Randy Gaston. Robert is survived by his wife, Linda Richardson Gaston; daughters: Christina Huskey and husband, Jim, Sandy Gaston, Janet Coley and husband, Alan, Mary Linda Butcher and husband, Taft; grandchildren: Zachery Gaston and wife, Tori, Brian (Bronco) Gaston, Reva Glass, Alisha Huskey Sanders and husband, Brandon, Maleah Huskey, Tyler and Beau Coley; great grandchildren, Mia Sanders; brothers, Clyde Gaston and wife, Susie, Eddie Gaston and wife, Pat; sisters: Charlsie, Bunny and Linda along with many nieces and nephews. James Vernon Hudson, age 78, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday morning, November 2, 2007 at the Loudon Healthcare Center. Vernon was a member of Silver Ridge Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. Vernon was a retired brick mason with 50 years experience and had worked on several local churches. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ethel Hudson; brother, Clarence Hudson and sister, Ella Ruth Layman. Survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Jenkins Hudson; daughter, Doris Raber and husband Bob; beloved granddaughter, Molly Raber all of Roanoke, VA; sister, Edna Massey; brother, Raymond Hudson both of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Roy E. Clabough, age 83, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 5, 2007 in Nashville. Roy was born Sept. 28, 1924 to Rev. James Robert Clabough and Ruby Benson Clabough. He was a member of West Hills Baptist Church of Knoxville. He worked for 20 years at Rodgers Cadillac and later retired from Lockheed Martin Y-12 plant. Roy was a member of D.A.V. #24 and the American Legion. He served in World War II with the 35th Infantry Division from Normandy to Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Inez Clabough. and his parents. He is survived his sons Lynn Clabough and wife Pam of Oak Ridge; Ronnie Clabough of Nashville; grandson Christopher Neil Clabough of Knoxville; sister, Trula Mae Patterson of Knoxville. Mary Lawanda (Wanda) Wilkerson, age 67, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007. Wanda was a member of Covenant Ministry Center. She was retired from Lowe's. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Wilkerson and mother, Ruby Paris. Una Shubert Arden, age 83, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Ft. Loudoun Medical Center. Una was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. W. Arden; son, Jimmy L. Arden; parents, Frank and Mannie Wyrick Shubert; brother, Joseph Shubert and sisters, Edith Pickle and Janie Skidmore. Willie Jean Harvey, age 81, formerly of Lenoir City and Powell went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 5 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Willie Jean was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Knoxville. She was a wonderful and loving mother. Willie Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Harvey; parents, Ross and Lou Malone; three brothers: Jim, Harold and Junior Malone; one sister, Iva Chambers and grandson Greg Smith. She is survived by her three sons: Paul Smith and wife Wilma, Frankie Smith, Billy Smith and wife Debra; two daughters, Jackie Morton and husband Chip, Tammy Young and husband Eddie; one sister Betty McCarroll and husband Bill; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Virginia M. (Jenny) Cooper Halterman, age 84, of Concord, our loving mom and mamaw, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, November 8, 2007. Jenny is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Helen Halterman of Lenoir City, Larry and Debbie Halterman of Loudon; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Derrick of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Kim McCormick, Kelley McCosh, Mitzi Mullins, Angie Noye, Todd Halterman and Doug Derrick; great grandchildren, Josh and Jake Garrett, Kayla and Trent McCormick, Corbin McCosh, Jack and Gracie Walter; brothers, Ambrose and Marie Cooper, Floyd and Pauline Cooper; special friend, Joel McCarter. Ratledge, Mary Elizabeth, age 86, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, November 9, 2007 at NHC Oak Ridge. She was a lifelong member and Sunday school teacher of the Church of Christ. Liz was an avid golfer and sewer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Preceded in death by her parents, Troy M. and Anna Warren; brothers, James Howard Warren and Troy M. Warren Jr. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Warren G. Ratledge; daughter, Susan Lawson and husband, Mike of Lenoir City, Katie Gosnell and husband, Don of Sandy Springs, GA; grandchildren, Amy Guerinot and husband, Greg of San Diego, CA, Patrick Gosnell and Lauren Gosnell both of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren, Michael and Sophie Guerinot of San Diego, CA; several nieces and nephews. Halbert attended North Knoxville Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, M. InezRaby Pugh; parents, Charles Earl Pugh and Carrie Lee Bright Pugh. Survivors: wife, Delores Poore Pugh; children and spouses, Shirley and Archie Mitchell of Knoxville, Halbert R. Clyde Jackson Harvey, age 84, of Lenoir City, formerly of the Cave Creek Community passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007. Clyde was a member of Cave Creek Baptist Church. He served in the Army during W. W. II with the Armored Infantry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie J. Harvey and Betty Hall Harvey; brothers, Martin, Tommy and George Harvey; sister, Hester Harvey. Clyde is survived by his brothers, Avery Harvey and wife, Betty of Lenoir City, Frank Harvey and wife, Betty of Loudon; sister-in-law, Blanche Harvey of Kingston; one niece and several nephews. Thurmer, Jon Mark, age 47, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007. Jon Mark was a graduate of Lenoir City High School. He and his brother Tommy Co- Owned T&T Trucking for many years. Jon Mark was an avid race fan and owned Thurmer & Housley Racing Team, which was a two-time world champion. Preceded in death by parents, W. T. Thurmer and Ruby Nelson Thurmer; brother, Tommy Thurmer; nephew, Jeremy Cass and grandmother, Ruby Nelson. Survived by his niece, Leslie Woody and husband, Jimmy of Lenoir City; special friends, Terry and Blake Housley along with special caregivers, Margaret and Janice. Seese, Wanda Lenora, age 70, of Parkersburg, WV, died Sunday evening, November 11, 2007, peacefully in her home in Knoxville, TN. She was born April 25, 1937, in Wood County West Virginia, to be the daughter and third child of Joseph C. and Edna Marie Boston Trembly. Wanda grew up in the Valley Mills area before moving in 1945 to Vienna, West Virginia, where she was a cheerleader at Neal Junior High School. She was a 1954 graduate of Parkersburg High School where she participated in basketball, choir, among other things. She later graduated from Mountain State College where she majored in Business Administration. Wanda took her talents and interests with administration to work in the office of the American Viscoe, until she was married to Larry E. Seese, of Harrisville, WV. Larry and Wanda were married on November 1, 1958 in Wesley Methodist Church in Vienna, WV. After marrying, they had children, and as a result of her love and dedication to them, she resigned from the American Viscoe to give her undivided attention to her husband and children. In 1983, Larry started a construction business where Wanda worked along his side as a secretary for 10 years. Larry and Wanda moved to Vonore, TN where Larry was self employed again. They then, attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Lenoir Ciity, TN with their grandchildren. In the 2000, they switched churches and joined the First Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville, TN. Wanda and Larry, among 12 other church members including two of their grandchildren, experienced a trip of a lifetime and went to Kenya, Africa. In Africa, Wanda served as a missionary and a "fisher of men." While there, Wanda would sit on the ground circled with all the children that would gather in from local schools and read to them the story of Jesus Christ. Upon returning from Africa, Larry and Wanda moved to a house in Knoxville, TN where she continued serving the Lord in all her ways. She continued to teach Sunday School and coach a c hildren’s Bible Quizzing teams at the First Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville. She lived her life for children and Jesus Christ. Wanda lived an amazing life and touched many more people than most could dream of in a lifetime. She has a house of glory in Heaven where she is watching and waiting on all loved ones to join her. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph C. and Edna Marie Boston Trembly; nephew, Doug Walton. Survived by her husband of 49 years, Larry Seese; children: Jeffrey Allen Seese and wife, Vicky of Lenoir City, Sonya Charmaine Seese of Nashville, Gregory Eugene Seese and wife, Terri of Madisonville, Rodrick Edward Seese and companion, Johnda of Friendsville; grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Seese and wife, Aneshia of Norris, Samantha Lynn Seese, Brittany Taylor Seese both of Lenoir City, Kirby Joseph Seese of Madisonville; great grandchildren, McKenzie Lee Seese of Lenoir City, Madison Dawn Jones, Macie Lynn Jones both of Norris; brothers, Ivan Clifton Trembly and wife, Dianna of Boise, ID, Gerald David Trembly and wife, Gloria of Parkersburg, WV; sister, Virginia Walton and husband, Ray of Parkersburg, WV; several nieces and nephews. Nicholas (Nick) Palamidis, age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 in Miami. Nick was of the Greek Orthodox faith. He was a 32 degree mason and a shriner. Nick was retired from Grumman Aerospace company. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Marine Corp in the Pacific Theatre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cosmos and Irene Palamidis, sister, Stella Cocolis. Nick is survived by his wife, Alice Durham Palamidis; children, Carey Palamidis and wife Cathy of Knoxville, Peter Palamidis and wife Pat of Patchogue, NY and Mary Ann Armbrecht of Miller Place, NY; grandchildren, Cerrie Ann Floyd, Christie Marie Branson, Peter Palamidis Jr., Stacie Zumpol, Christopher, Kristen and Keith Armbrecht; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Kay Mitsos of Dobbs Ferry, NY; many nieces and nephews. Arden, Bobby Ronald, age 66, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007. Bobby served in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. U. Arden and Hazel Hill Arden and brother, Gary Arden. Survived by his sons, Joel Arden of Lenoir City and Chris Arden of South Carolina; granddaughters, Skylar Arden of Lenoir City and Ashlee Arden of Greenville, SC; mother of his children, Brenda Arden of Greenville, SC; sister, Phyllis Arden; nephew, Tony Arden and wife, Tracy; great nieces, Taylor and Tamara Arden all of Lenoir City. Charles J. (Charlie) Hall, age 76, of Farragut passed away Tuesday evening, November 13, 2007 at his home. Charlie battled cancer, to take care of his wife, until her death exactly one month prior to his. Charlie was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from K.U.B. as Transportation Manager. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U S Army. Charlie was a member and Past Master of Chota Lodge 253 F&AM. He was a farmer, fisherman, hunter and a lover of the outdoors, nature and all God's creatures. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Hall; parents, Merl and Bessie White Hall; brother, Eddie Hall. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Hall and husband Doug Ramsay, Charlene Allison and grandchildren, Steven and Hailey Allison; sisters, Evelyn Stalyons and husband Bud, Barbara Hall and husband Don Tipton all of Knoxville; many nephews and nieces. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Friday, November 16, at Concord Masonic Cemetery for graveside services with Rev. George Clark officiating. Fox, William Garrad, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007. He was born in Manila, Arkansas on August 21, 1918 to Doctor and Mrs. Vernon Fox. Billy was valedictorian of his high school graduating class from Manila High School. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. and B.B.A. degrees in 1939. He attended the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock, Arkansas for one year and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Billy served in World War II as a medic in the Army Fourth Division. He landed on Utah Beach during the Normandy Invasion on D-Day and served overseas for eighteen months in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. He fought in the Battles of Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France, Central Europe and the Ardennes. Billy was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor above and beyond the call of duty, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the European-African Middle-eastern Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Ba ttle Stars. After the war he returned to Arkansas and entered a career of banking where he retired as Executive Vice-President and Trust Officer of First Bank and Trust Company of Cairo, Illinois. He was active in community affairs where he served as President of the Manila Lions Club, the Cairo Illinois Rotary Club and the Cairo Alexander County Chamber of Commerce. Billy was a member of the United Methodist Church where he held various leadership positions throughout his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Marion, to whom he was married for over sixty-four years; his sons, Garrad L. Fox and William Richard Fox; daughters-in-law, Barbara and Joy; four grandchildren, Angela Rene’ Fox-Hooker, Kristin Lee Fox-Trautman, Jonathan Richard Fox and Jessica Leigh Fox; step-granddaughters, Candace Capps and Beth Putman and step great grandchildren, Sophie and Jack Putman and Lydia and Jude Capps. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, N ovember 17, 2007 at the Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ron Fisher officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held in Manila, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Central United Methodist Church "For the Kingdom" Fund where he was a member.
