Dyer, William H., age 74, of Kingston, TN, was born on March 10, 1926, passed on to the wonderful hands of the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2001.Bill attended Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army and was a purple Heart recipient. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Katherine Bailey Dyer; parents, James Thomas Dyer and Pearl Palmer Dyer; brother, Charles (Chuck) Dyer; sisters, Ruth Dyer Gibboney, Ollie Mae Dyer and Catherine Louise Dyer. Cagley, Thomas A., age 86, of Loudon formerly of Lenoir City passed away Thursday, February 8, 2001 at the Loudon Hospital. He was a member of Pine Top Primitive Baptist Church for many years. Tom retired from Oak Ridge Y-12 plant and was a lifetime farmer. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Cagley, Charlie Cagley and Earl Cagley; sisters, Fronia Ward, Alice Lindsey and Myrtle Stevens; and son Leslie Cagley. Robison, Jack Hinds, age 67, of Lenoir City, Tn., passed away Saturday morning, June 2, 2001 at his home. Jack was retired from CTI Inc. A member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and a veteran of The United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethyl Hinds Robison and father, Jack Edward Robison. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra White Robison; daughters: Susan Robison Rojas, Sherry Robison Friedman and Tracy Robison all of Ft. Herron, James Leonard Jr., age 82, of Lenoir City, passed away early Saturday morning, June 2, 2001 at the Loudon Health Care Center. Jim was born in Hartford, Al. on July 17, 1918 to Anna Mae and James L. Herron Sr. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, serving on the USS New Mexico as an Electricians Mate Third Class during WWII and received an honorable discharge in November 1945. He attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville where he received his BS in education in 1950 and his MS in 1954. He retired from the Lenoir City School System where he taught science and chemistry at Lenoir City High School for thirty-one years. He was the Director of the Lenoir City Boy's Club for forty one years and served on the United Way Board. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He belonged to the Amateur Ham Radio Club and enjoyed astronomy, star gazing and fishing. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Herron and his parents. He is survived by his children: Martha Ann DeRossett and husband Mike of Dayton, Tn., Jimmy Herron, Susie McCloskey and husband Randy all of Lenoir City, Paula Stooksbury and husband Stan of Knoxville; brother, Leslie Herron and wife Georgia of Knoxville; grandchildren: Kathy Watson, Michael Herron, Audrey McCloskey, Megan McCloskey, Josh Swicegood and Cassie Swicegood. Brady, Richard L., age 69, of Tellico Village Community, Loudon formerly of Danville, Ill. passed away Monday, June 4, 2001 at U. T. Medical Center after a battle with cancer. He was a member of the Catholic Church in Danville, Ill. Richard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Air Force. A member of Knights of Columbus and Catlin American Legion. He was Past Commodore of Danville Boat Club. He was retired from Hyster Company after a distinguished career of 44 years. After his retirement, Richard became affiliated with ERA Lakeside Realty until August, 2000. Preceded in death by parents, George and Helen Brady. Survived by wife of 44 years, Connie Brady; sons, Timothy R. Brady of Catlin, Ill. and Curtis W. Brown, George Mercer, age 83, of Knoxville, TN, Chatham Twp, NJ, passed away Saturday morning June 9, 2001, in Knoxville after fighting a long, courageous battle with cancer. George was born on February 22, 1918, in Swissvale, PA to C. Roy Brown and Edith Mercer Brown who preceded him in death. He is sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Florence Elizabeth Brown; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Ellen Brown and William R. (Bill) McCauley III of Knoxville, Janet Mercer Moore and Don Moore of Bristol, VA; only grandson, Matthew Allen McCauley; sisters, Shirley Rowley and Marjorie MacGregor both of Pittsburgh, PA. Sternberg, Betty Jane, age 75, of Farragut entered her heavenly home, early Saturday morning, June 9, 2001, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, after a valiant battle against Hepatitis C. Betty had been a member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1977, and was involved for many years in delivering food for the Fish Food program. She worked on several Habitat homes with fellow church goers. Betty was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association, and enjoyed the fellowship of the Church's Bridge group which she helped lead for a year. She also enjoyed the fellowship of the Church's Mariners group for many years. Betty loved the game of golf and belonged to Deane Hill and then Fox Den Country Clubs for many years until failing health kept her from playing as much as she would have liked. She also served as volunteer scorer in the Ben Hogan Tournaments for several years. Betty is survived by her husband Ed; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Pat Speller of Indianapolis, IN; step sons and wives, Michael and Jan Sternberg of Anacortes, WA, Steve and Lorrie Sternberg of Pocatello, ID, Paul and Liz Sternberg of Chesterfield, IN; step daughters, The Rev. Terrie Sternberg of Pulaski, VA, Margaret Smalley and husband Robert of Karns; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and her beloved canary, B J. Rayfield, Emert, age 84, of Knoxville passed away Monday morning, June 11, 2001, at the Baptist Health Care Center. Emert was a member of Chota Masonic Lodge. A longtime farmer. Emert also worked at the local teamster union. He owned school buses from 1946 to 1976. A veteran of the U. S. Army serving just before W. W. II in the Panama Canal. Emert was preceded in death by brothers, Ted, Charlie, George, Raymond, Hobart and Troy Rayfield; and sister, Grace Frye. Retired from UPS and after his retirement Dale worked for Express Courier in Alcoa, Tn. He was a member of Lenoir City Fraternal Order of Police and an avid fisherman. Dotson, Margie Goodman, age 75, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Sanford, NC, passed away Sunday evening June 17, 2001 at the home of her daughter. Margie was affectionately known by her grandchildren as Monnie. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Charles H. Dotson who pastored at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Troy, NC, Sanford, NC, Blacksburg,VA and Washington, DC. Margie served faithfully with her husband in the churches as a pianist, Sunday school teacher, missionary society leader and other church activities. She later worked for the U S government in Washington as a secretary and also worked in the White House during her employment with the government. Margie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Johnson, Jerry Lynn, age 47, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 17, 2001 in a boating accident. Jerry was self employed as a painter and carpenter. He attended the First Church of God in Lenoir City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Thelma Johnson; sister, Patsy Dobine and grandmother, Ella Bond. Jerry is survived by his sons, Wesley Estes Johnson of Knoxville and Shane Johnson of Loudon; sisters, Tammia Ketron of Kansas and Brenda Cook of Loudon; brothers: William Michael Johnson of Philadelphia, Harold Dean Johnson of Loudon and Bradley Jerome Johnson of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews. Bob was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Army and was awarded 4 bronze stars. Bob was a painter and barber. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Virgie McCuistion Hope.
