Scott was a longtime dirt track racer, winning many awards and recently inducted into the Dirt Track Racing Hall of Fame. Carolyn Sedota Alaimo, age 86, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Fredonia, NY, Buffalo, NY, Syracuse, NY and New Port Richey, FL, went to be with the Lord Thursday October 18, 2007 surrounded by her children. Carolyn was a former member of St Florian Catholic Church in Fredonia, NY, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in New Port Richey, FL and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. Carolyn attended All Saints Catholic Church in Knoxville. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a resident of Echo Ridge Retirement Community. Her husbands, Donald J. Sedota Sr. and Russell Alaimo, preceded Carolyn in death. She is survived by her children, John A. Sedota Jr. (Carole) of Cicero, NY, Donald J. Sedota (Patricia) of McKinney, TX, Robert C. Dr. Roddie (Rod) Reagan Judkins, age 65, of Knoxville went to be with his Lord Friday evening, October 19, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rod was a member of Two Rivers Church who came to know the Lord in 1986. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Rod's favorite hobbies were working as Fossil Energy Manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and constantly restoring his 1969 Oldsmobile. He was preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Hazel Judkins and infant brother, Jimmy Judkins. Rod is survived by his wife, Christy; children, Joni Whisman and husband Bobby, Sam Judkins, Jacob Judkins; also daughters Bridget Metcalfe, Lisa Rucker and Emily Judkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb and Pat Judkins, Joe and Ann Judkins; grandchildren, Christopher, Amie, Nathanael, Adrian, Aaron, Alexander and Peyton. Vaughn, James B., Jr., age 83, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday October 20, 2007 at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir City and a member of Dick DeMerchant’s Sunday School Class. James was retired from Maremont Corporation. He played Santa Claus for Lenoir City Merchants for over 32 years. Preceded in death by his parents, James B. Vaughn, Sr. and Lennie Dovie Crisp; sisters, Geneva Cruze and Dorthy Vaughn. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lynn Maxwell Vaughn; daughters, Beverly Vineyard and husband, Jim of Chattanooga, Pam Vaughn of Smyrna; son, Eddie Vaughn and wife, Kathy of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Chris and Stacey Vineyard, Sarah and Travis Vaughn; nephew, Allen Cruze and nieces, Vivian Hiltz and Linda Spires. Harris, James Vernal, age 90, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday October 19, 2007 at the Loudon Healthcare Center. He was a veteran of World War II, first training with the horse calvary and later serving with the Army Medical Corps in Australia. A farmer, and later an employee of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, he had been retired for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Cooper Harris and Calvin Harris. Survived by his wife, Georgia Coward Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Buddy Hathcock of Lenoir City; son, Gary Harris of Atlanta, GA, and sister, Veda Harris Massey of Rossville, GA. Ruby Luttrell Jones, of Lenoir City, went to see her Lord and King on Sunday, October 21, 2007. Ruby was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Lenoir City where she was director and artist for the Windows of Christmas ministry for 15 years. She was also a member of the choir and the Church Banner Ministry. Ruby was a former member and past president of the Lenoir City Pilot Club. She was also a member of the Tuesday Club and Sewing Club. Ruby was selected First Lady of Loudon County in 2000. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law and a very proud grandmother. Her family and church were her life. Ruby retired from Union Carbide after 32 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. A. (Red) Jones; mother and father, Mabel and Vernon Luttrell and sister, June Farren. Donna Kay Jenkins Ragan, age 54, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday morning, October 21, 2007. Donna was a member of Northshore Church of God. She had attended Lee University in Cleveland. Donna operated Aunt Donnas Preschool in Lenoir City for many years. She was a loving, Christian mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ragan and her father, Rev. Haskel Jenkins. Esther Wessel, age 87, of Batavia, Ohio went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, October 25, 2007. Esther was member of Summerside United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a wife and mother who served as a Den Mother. Esther was active in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Batavia, OH and the United Methodist Church in Olive Branch, OH for several years prior to joining Summerside. She moved to NHC Farragut, TN in 2005 to be near her family. Esther loved gardening and enjoyed working to promote various products in the Meijer store in Eastgate. She was preceded in death by parents Wilbur and Marguerite Baumann; husband, Louis H. Wessel; brothers, John and Roy Baumann and sister, Marguerite (Sis) Baumann. Maude Evelyn McMurray Parris, age 90, of Chesnee, South Carolina passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Maude was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church for 70 years. She was a devoted choir member and Sunday School teacher. Maude enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, crafts, music and her pets. Preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Parris, infant son, parents, brother and sister. David Richard Passons, age 72, of Lenoir City, formerly of Sparta, passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, October 30, 2007. David was a member of the Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Lions Club and was an avid golfer. David was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University. He was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems Inc and was a veteran of the U S Air Force. David preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe Passons and Varina Mai Rawlston Passons; brother, James Thomas (Jim) Passons. Survivors: wife of 50 years, JoAnn Trobaugh Passons; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Virginia Passons, Donald and Betty Passons all of Sparta, Joan Passons of Farragut; several nieces and nephews. Edna Muriel Teddy Pickerel, of Loudon, died October 27, 2007 at Specialty Hospital in Knoxville, TN from complications from an earlier surgery. Teddy, born Jan 14, 1925, in Boonah, Queensland, Australia, was the youngest of nine children born to Ernest Thomas Love and Mary Ann Pocock. Teddy served in the Women's Royal Australian Air Force during World War II as a radio operator at General McArthur's Headquarters in Brisbane. In 1944 she married an American serviceman Robert L. Pickerel. That marriage ended in a divorce in 1980. In 1946 she came to the United States to join her husband. She settled in Salem, Oregon and lived there until 2003, when she moved to Loudon, Tennessee to be closer to her children. She proudly became an American citizen in 1949. In 1990 Teddy retired from Agripac in Salem. A cradle to grave Episcopalian, Teddy was very active first in St. Timothys Episcopal Church in Salem, OR and later in the Church of the Resurrection in Loudon, TN. Gardening and cooking gave her much pleasure. Until recent years she has enjoyed world travel and recently renewed her passport with travel thoughts of Belize. She is survived by two sisters, Eileen Raguse and Beatrice Rodgers of Queensland, Australia. She is also survived by three children and their spouses; Leigh and Loren Whittaker, Loudon, TN; Suzzane Jewett and her fianc Charles Stoots, Hampton VA; and Robert J. and Cathy Pickerel of Marietta GA. She had seven grandchildren, Tyson Whittaker, Nottingham MD; Noelle Barefoot, Smithfield VA; Tina Thompson, Huntersville, NC; Robert S. Pickerel, Alpharetta, GA; Jacob Pickerel, Marietta GA; Grant Jewett, Wilmington NC; and Juliana Clark, Dayton Ohio. Ten great grandchildren also survive their Nan Teddy. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 3, at the Church of the Resurrection, Loudon, TN. Rev. Claire Keene will officiate. Jeff C. Powell, age 80, of Loudon, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at his home. Jeff was a beloved Papa and an avid gardener. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years service and served in the U. S. Navy during W. W. II. Jeff was a member of Brotherhood Masonic Lodge #561 in Waterford, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, James Powell; mother and stepfather, Dora and Esco Everett and infant daughter, Joan Lee Powell. Powell and wife, Sarah of Loudon; grandchildren, Joshua and Karen Biedermann, Matt and Lisa Lande, Scott Michael Wright, Hanna, Corey and McKenzie Powell; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Kristin Lande, Kai and Trevor Biedermann; brothers, John Powell of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Jim Powell of Holly, MI; several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Jack Hill of Loudon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Marvin Shanks of Knoxville, Jan and Orv Lefko, Ken and Diane Mather all of Michigan. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Saturday at Loudon County Memorial Gardens for graveside services with Rev. Eddie Click officiating. Full military honors will be conferred by Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard.
