Wampler, Arnold J., age 81, of Okeechobee, FL, formerly of Lenoir City, TN and Monroe, MI, passed away early Sunday morning, September 14, 2003, in Florida. He attended North Okeechobee Church of God. Arnold retired from the International Operating Engineers Local # 324 in Monroe, MI. He was an avid guitar player and bass fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, one sister, one grandson and two great grandchildren. Arnold is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Bertha Foster Wampler of Okeechobee; one son, Arnold L. Wampler, Sr. and his wife, Mildred Elizabeth Gray Wampler; two daughters, Anna Mae Cole, Peggy Stanfill and her husband, Raymond D. Stanfill; ten grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren all from Monroe; four brothers: Tommy Wampler of Lasalle, MI, Jack and Connie Wampler both of Winchester, VA, and George Wampler of Lenoir City; two sisters, Arizona Peters of Monroe and Bea Reynolds and her husband, Jim of Lenoir City; many nieces and nephews. Duff, Nora I. Amos, age 90, of the Oral Community in Roane Co. passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2003. She was the oldest living member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Nora was charter member of Ladies Aid/United Methodist Women. She operated bookmobile services out of her home for over 50 years. Nora attained her GED at 80 years of age. Preceded in death by her husband, Norman H. Duff; parents, D. W. and Minnie Bailey Amos; sisters, Hazel Whittaker and Dolly Law. Lucille was a member of the Wednesday Progress Club in Cherryvale and the P. E. O. Sisterhood. She loved to sew and entertain. Paul was a member of New Midway Baptist Church of Kingston, where he served as a deacon and song director for many years. He retired from Yale Security after 36 years of service. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division of the U S Army. He was a graduate of Farragut High School. (Daughters of America Revolution) and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by parents, Glen Thomas Priddy and Sarah Jane McKeage; brother, Hubert Glen Priddy. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Allen Sweetser of Knoxville, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Tim Thurston of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Cole of Knoxville; grandsons, Jason Thurston, Tim Thurston and wife, hurley, David Cole, John Cole and wife, Christy; great granddaughters, Jordan and Jessica Cole; and special friend, Polly Stallard of Lenoir City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with a Christian Wake service to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father David Boettner officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens for graveside services.
