Silvey, Linda Kay, age 42 of Sevierville, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Friday evening July 27, 2001 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Likes and Dorothy Kilby. Christensen, Merritt Eudell, age 71, of Kingston, Tennessee, formerly of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Minot, North Dakota, passed away Monday afternoon, July 3, 2000 at Park West Hospital, in Knoxville,Tennessee. Merritt was retired from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, with 33 years of service, as a Professor of Journalism. He was also a reporter, with the Minot Daily news, but teaching was his life. Shelton, Walter Cleveland age 93, of Kingston, passed away Tuesday evening, July 11, 2000, at Roane Medical Center. Cleve was born in Coffee County, Tennessee, on December 17,1906, the son of John Walter and Emma Elizabeth (Jordan) Shelton. He was married to the former Ruby Murray who died in 1977. Cleve and his wife, owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Harriman, for many years. Prior to moving to Harriman, they lived in Nashville, where Cleve worked as a barber. They moved from Harriman to Kingston in 1958, and retired from the store in the early 1970's. Cleve was a veteran of World War II, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife and parents, Cleve was preceded in death by his son, Larry Cleve Shelton, who died in 1996; by his siblings, Stephen Ewin Shelton, Charley Newman Shelton, and Kitty Ruth Shelton Hardaway; and by a nephew, Bruce Hardaway. He is survived by a special sister in law, Leona Shelton of Lenoir City; two nieces, Jane Hardaway of Antioch and Brenda (Hardaway) Bradford and husband, James of Brentwood; and a nephew, Roger Hardaway of Alva, Oklahoma. Family and friends will gather at 2 P.M. Friday at Roane Memorial Gardens for graveside services with Dr. Mason Goodman officiating. Gess, Ruth M., age 73, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, formerly of Monroe, Michigan, passed away Friday morning July 14, 2000 in Loudon Tennessee. Ruth was a member of Vaughns Chapel Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She was retired from the Food Town Grocery with 30 years of service. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Gess; parents, Richard and Dorothy Schmidt. Survivors: Children and spouses, Richard and Sandra Gess of Loudon TN, Sandy and Allen Rose of Dry Ridge KY, Pamela and Larry Frye of Lenoir City TN, Michelle and Rocky Pincheff of Monroe MI; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City TN. Family and friends will gather at 10 A.M. Keener, Nixola Fine - age 92, of Lenoir City passed away Saturday, July 15, 2000, at The Marshall Voss Healthcare Center in Harriman. Nixola was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church where she joined in 1915 when she was eight years old. She also taught Sunday School for many years. Nixola began working at age 16 at the Charles H. Bacon Hosiery Mill and later retired from Yale & Towne with fifteen years of service. She is survived by her son, Larry Fine of Lenoir City; sisters, Vera Roberson of Lenoir City; step children, Gene Keener of Lenoir City, Glen Ann Thomas of Knoxville, Mary Ruth Miller of Ohio, Nathan Keener of Gastonia, NC, and Homer Keener of Spokane, WA; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in The Click Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bo Selvage and Rev. Gary Bingham will officiate. Koepke, Anna E., age 91, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly Monday evening, July 17, 2000, at Park West Hospital. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl John Koepke; sisters, Margaret, Helen and Augusta. Young, Alvin N. Jr. (Siler) age 21 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Saturday July 15, 2000 at U.T. Medical Center. Alvin was of the Baptist faith and attended New Life Ministries. He was an employee of Chuck E. Cheese and Fazolis. Alvin was a boxer with the Knoxville Golden Gloves for 11 years. He was a semi pro football player with the Maryville Invaders. Alvin was an aspiring musical artist. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin N. Young Sr; grandparents, Catherine and John Siler; Claude Perkins. He is survived by his 20 month old son, Alvin N.
