Maples, Jesse Claude, age 70, of Lenoir City passed away suddenly Friday afternoon, September 22, 2000, at U T Hospital. Claude was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was chairman of Properties Commity, a Trustee, member of the administrative Board, the Mens Club and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Holston Conference Builders Club. Claude was a member of the Knox County Rescue Squad for 40 years and a former member and Captain of the Loudon County Rescue Squad. He was a member of the American Red Cross for 41 years. He was secretary for the Lenoir City Planning and Community Development Council. Claude was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in Oak Ridge with 33 years of service as a machinist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of American Legion Post #70. He was past Civil Defense Director. Claude received the Loudon County Distinguished Service Award in 1964. He also received the Community Service Award and the Governors Merit Award. Survivors: wife Hazel Maples; daughters, Claudia Williams and husband Larry of Bentonville Arkansas, Debbie Maples of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Williams, Alicia Maples; brother, Lindley Maples of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. The body will lie in state from 10 until 11 A.M. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 11 A.M. with Rev. Mike Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake View Cemetery. Members of the Knoxville Volunteer Rescue Squad will serve as pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers will be members of Trinity United Methodist Church. Norris, Gardner E., age 75, of Lenoir City passed away Sunday afternoon September 24, 2000, at his home. Gardner was a member of the Church Of God for 52 years and attended the Lovell Heights Church. He was retired from Local #324 Operating Engineers in Detroit, Michigan, where he was Craft Foreman at Fermi II Nuclear Plant in Monroe, Michigan. Gardner was a veteran of World War II serving as an Infantryman in the European Theater. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady E. Norris and Nettie Wright Norris; brother, Jack Norris; sisters, Helen Shiller, Ruby Roberts, Essie Lee Baughm, Ada France and Marie Durham. Tim was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and was retired from Ringscrew Work in Warren, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his Parents: W.J. and Annie Monger and six Brothers and one Sister. Carrigan, Charles T. (Chili), age 80, of West Knoxville, formerly of Maryville, passed away Friday afternoon September 29, 2000 at his home, after a long illness. Chili was retired from the Aluminum Company of American in Alcoa with 51 years of service. He was a member of the I B E W. Chili was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corp, in the European Theater. He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Carrigan; daughter, Jenny Carrigan of Annapolis Maryland. Santini, Sharon LaCroix - age 56 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, Tn., formerly of Atlanta, Ga., Annapolis, Md., Pittsburgh, Pa. and Framingham, Ma., passed away Sunday morning, September 9, 2001 at her home. Sharon was raised in the Catholic Church. She had worked as an office manager with several commercial and industrial companies. Hair, James M. Jr. (Fuzz), Maj. U.S. Army Retired, age 80, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, September 10, 2001, at his home. Jim attended the First Church of The Nazarene. A member of Avery Lodge #593 F&AM and was a 32nd degree Mason. He served in the U. S. Army retiring after 42 years with the rank of Major. Maj. Hair's service included W. W. II in Okinawa, the Korean War and in the Tn. National Guard, with which he helped organize locally the Tennessee Defense Force. He received the American Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and UN Service Medal. Maj. Hair was to receive the Korean Service Medal as issued by the Korean Government. After serving with the Army, Jim retired from the Lenoir City Postal Service. He was preceded in death by parents, James M. Hair Sr. and Florence (Dollie) Bowden Hair; brother, Gene Hair. Gill, Raymond V., age 91, of Clinton passed away Friday evening, September 14, 2001 at the Marshall Voss Nursing Home in Harriman. He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Clinton and was a retired watch and jewelry repair man. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Hessie Louise Monger Gill; brothers, William, L.J. and Vance Gill; and sister, Blanche Barber. Smith, Lena A., age 95, of Farragut, TN, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2001 at NHC Cavett Hill. She was a graduate of Strayer Business College, and worked as an accountant for the American Federation of Labor. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Florence E. Smith, her father, Paul J. Smith, brother Melvin P. Smith and niece, Marylyn D. Couick. Survivors: Nephew and adopted son, Lowell S. Smith, three grandchildren and five great grand children. Skidmore, William, age 89, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday evening September 15, 2001, at the Loudon Health Care Center. Bill was a member of Stockton Valley Baptist Church but had recently attended Silver Ridge Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army. Bill was retired from Foster Creighton Company. He was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Earl Fox; parents, Charlie Skidmore and Addie Duncan Skidmore; brothers, Arthur and Ebb Skidmore. Survivors: wife of 66 years, Ellen Harvey Skidmore; daughter, Jayne Richardson of North Little Rock Arkansas; grandchildren, William (Buttons) Fox, Bitsy Mashburn and Susie Wilkerson all of Lenoir City, Bobby Richardson and Rebecca Clinton both of North Little Rock Arkansas; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, James and Marshall Skidmore both of Lenoir City; Sister, Ruth Viars of Loudon; several nieces and nephews. Schweikhart, Vera H., age 77, of Tellico Village Community, Loudon passed away Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the Blount Memorial Hospital. She attended St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's Organization. She is survived by husband of 58 years, Earl Schweikhart; brothers, John Hasselbeck and Carl Hasselbeck both of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Thelma Bottoni, Anna Mae Melzer, Rita Porter both of Cincinnati, OH, Dolores San Miguel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mary Tebelman and Arlene Hacker of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Steve LaPrad officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Guilford, Dorothy Jean McKenzie, age 77, of Lenoir City, TN formerly of Laurel MD passed away Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City. Dorothy was a member of the First Methodist Church in Laurel. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Alvin Guilford Sr.; parents, Floyd and Bernice McKenzie; and her sisters, Dorwin Vinton and Janet Gibleon of Iowa. Dorothy is survived by her children: Cynthia Jean Bohrer of Dunkirk, MD, Ralph Alvin Guilford Jr. and Floyd Neil Guilford both of Lenoir City formerly of Laurel; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, at Parklawn Memorial Park and Gardens, 12800 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD. Lewis, Joseph Kimber, age 91, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2001 at the Park West Medical Center. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. A veteran of World War II serving in the Army Corp of Engineers. A member of Avery Masonic Lodge F&AM # 593, Shriners and Scottish Rite. He was retired from Oak Ridge National Lab as a heavy equipment operator. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, his parents, several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Littleton of Lenoir City; grandsons, Kimber Littleton and wife, Angi of Lenoir City, Mark Littleton of Charlotte, N.C.; great grandchildren : Nyckolle Wheeler and Jesse Littleton of Lenoir City., Beau and Kimberly Littleton of California ; sisters, Grace Offutt and Helen Haddock both of Texas; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday followed by funeral services at 7:30 in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. C.E. Jackson III will officiate. A Masonic Service will follow conducted by Avery Masonic Lodge.
