Hicks, Florence Smith McKinney, age 86, of Knoxville, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday morning February 13, 2000 at Brakebill Nursing Home. Florence was a member of the Norwood Church Of Christ. She was a former employee of Harriman Hoisery Mill and Mead Paper Corp. of Harriman. During World War II, Florence moved to Oak Ridge to work at the Y-12 Plant. After the war she moved to ORNL, and remained there for 27 years until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Raymond Hicks. Parents, Silas and Emily Smith, Sisters, Beloved sister, Winona Brewer, Nettie Atkins, Laura Alice Atkins and Cora Leone Tollett who were all from Crossville. Survivors: Daughter, Vera Hyman of Farragut. Son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert Vance and Nancy McKinney of Oak Ridge. Morton, Henry H. Jr., age 77, of Lenoir City, formerly of Knoxville, passed away early Tuesday morning February 15, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Henry was a member of Central United Methodist. He was a former member of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church and Corinth United Methodist Church, while living in Knoxville. He was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years, active in the Little League for over 20 years, the Gibbs and Eaton Ruritan Clubs for over 30 years. Henry graduated from the University of Tennessee Law School, and worked for Farmers Mutual as an insurance Adjuster until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp., 461st Bomb Group in Italy, as a ball turrett gunner. Henry was born January 15, 1923 in the Martel community to Henry Haywood Morton Sr. and Clara Eblen Morton. He was married to Margaret Daniel on May 18, 1945 and is survived by his wife of 53 years. Other survivors include: Daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Anderson of Snellville, Ga., Janice Eller of Woodstock, Ga. Robert A. Meyer, age 50 of West Knoxville, (formerly of Appleton, Wisconsin) passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2000 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. An employee of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation for 20 years. A passionate trout fisherman and golfer. Proceeded in death by his parents Arden and Ella Meyer. Survived by his wife of 11 years, Sherri Meyer. Children Jennifer Meyer, Lucas Meyer, Mandy Brandau, and Abbi Meyer all of Knoxville. Sister, Paulette Weaver and husband Frank of Phoenix, Arizona. Allen, Emma Jane, age 77, of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2000 at Loudon Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Helen Dutton Sunday School Class. A former school teacher at Highland Park Elementary School. Preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Allen; parents, John A. and Mae Fritts Bailey. Survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Allen of Lenoir City; grandson, Derrick Allen of Lenoir City; brother, James Hugh Bailey and wife, Nellie of Greenback; sisters, Elizabeth B. Allen, Nelle B. Tuck and husband, Thomas L. McHugh, Melvina, age 87, of Knoxville, Tn. passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2000. She was born January 27, 1913 in Ft. Francis, Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Raymond B. McHugh; son, Frederic McHugh; granddaughter, Kimberly McHugh; daughters-in-law, Shirley and Beryl McHugh. Survived by sons, Raymond W. Long Ray E., age 76, of Lenoir City passed away Thursday evening, February 17, 2000 at the home of his sister in Greeneville. Ray was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Coast Guard. A member of Central United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Volunteer Sunday School Class. After his retirement from the automobile business, he enjoyed working with wood working crafts for his many friends. He was the son of the late Millard and Elizabeth Long. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Jo Long; brother, Clyde E. Long. Temples, Owen C. Jr. (Bud), age 67, of Farragut passed away Saturday morning February 19 at Hillcrest North Healthcare Center. Bud was a retired plumber/pipefitter and member of Plumbers Local #364 in California. He served in the US Navy. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Myrtle Talbot Temples. Utterback, Ernest, age 70, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon Tennessee, passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon February 19, 2000 at Loudon Hospital. Ernest was retired from Mobil Oil Corporation as a project manager. He served in the Army Engineering Corp. during the Korean Conflict. Ernest was a member of the New Tellico Villagers Club, an avid golfer and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean Utterback. Spears, Bulah Virginia, age 71, of Greeneville, formerly of the Bradbury Community, passed away Sunday night, February 20, 2000, at her home due to declining health. Bulah was a graduate of Roane County High School. She was a former employee of Revco in Greeneville and Harriman, and Burlington Mills in Harriman. Bulah was the daughter of the late Arminda and Oliver Spears of Roane County. She was also preceded in death by her brother Buran, and sister Zena Spears. Powell, Janie Elizabeth Riggle - age 82, died February 29, 2000. A member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, she was instrumental in the establishment of the Bill Wallace Room at the church. She was a former member of First Baptist, Knoxville, and was retired from the Knox County Library System. The daughter of the late Ruth Eubanks Riggle and Charles Wiley Riggle of Lenoir City, she was the wife of the late John Clifford Powell of Knoxville; mother of Nancy Powell Gauntt (Bill) of Knoxville and John Powell, Jr. of Atlanta. Her brothers are Ben Tom Riggle (Boots) of Lenoir City and Charles Harold Riggle (Juanita) of Signal Mountain. She was the grandmother of Christopher John Wilson (Debbie) of Knoxville, Brooke Elizabeth Wilson Pippenger (Andy) of Chattanooga and Ashley Richardson Wilson of Atlanta, Fa; and great grandmother of Christopher Parker Wilson of Knoxville. Franklin, Charity Phillips, age 94, of Lenoir City passed away Saturday evening, December 2, 2000, at Park West Hospital. Charity was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harvey Franklin; son, John Franklin Jr. sons-in-law, Clarence Deaton and Bobby Smith; daughter-in-law, Mary Franklin. Billingsley, Lucy L., age 83, of Lenoir City passed away early Monday morning, December 4, 2000, at Loudon Hospital. Lucy was a member of Martel AME Zion Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Leonard Billingsley; son-in-law, Thomas Amos; grandchildren, Marie Maxine Hampton and Carold T. Billingsley. Survivors: children and spouses, Vivian and Ben Hardin, Mable and Raymond Kerr, W.J. and Ernestine Billingsley all of Lenoir City, Clara B. Brown, Nannie Belle, age 94, of Lenoir City passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000, at her home, after an extended illness. Nannie was an avid pet lover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Albert Brown; son, Fred Brown; parents Harm and Elijah Jane Stacey Fugate; sister, Rosa Belle Sharp; brother, Matthew (Mac) Fugate; special nephew, Thomas Baird. Dyer, Katherine (Omie), age 72, of Kingston, TN. She was born on July 22, 1928, passed on to the wonderful hands of the Lord on December 3, 2000. Omie attended Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Molly Bourdess Bailey from Ohio & Jarvis Bailey from W. VA.; sisters, Sola Marie, Emma and Eva; brother, Bud all from Ohio. Survived by her husband of 48 years, William Dyer of Kingston; children, Brenda Edmonds of Kingston, Marie McFalls of Loudon, Betty Taylor and Billy Dyer of Ohio, Patricia White and Janet McKinney of Kingston; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Edna Henson and Gladys Englebracht of Ohio. Shubert, Millard Jr., age 57, of Philadelphia, passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, December 5, 2000, at U.T. Hospital. Millard was of the Baptist faith. He was a long time dairy farmer in Loudon and Monroe Counties. Millard was an avid CB radio operator for 30 years and was known as "Banty Rooster". He was a Girl Scout Doo Dad. Millard was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shubert; father, Millard Shubert Sr.; brother, Leroy Shubert.
