Campbell, Ruth Tate, age 84, of Lenoir City passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001 at the Baptist Health Care Center. She was a life long resident of the Highland Park Community and a 72 year member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Campbell; parents, John and Pearl Tate; brother Leonard Tate and a sister Dessie Moyer. She is survived by 10 children and their spouses: Gerald and Jimmie Sue Campbell, Joann and Kenneth Scarbrough, Phyllis Hughes, Harold and Johnnie Campbell, David and Deborah Campbell, Buford and Cynthia Campbell, Larry and Annette Campbell, Mary Lou and Van Davis, Sherry and Rick Sneed, and Susan and Lynn Larue. Ten grandchildren and their spouses: Tammy and Ricky Williams, Andrea Georgopoulos, Steve and Amy Scarbrough, Vanessa and Anthony Pelham, Jennifer and Joe Michael Robertson, Matthew Campbell, Justin Campbell, Adam Luttrell, Tyler Campbell and Sarah Luttrell. Reynolds, Ethel Mae Matoy, age 75, of Lenoir City passed away Friday, December 14, 2001 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of Levi Straus and a retired housekeeper and laundry worker. She loved to fish, camp, garden and quilt. She was preceded in death by her father, Will Matoy and mother Mary Elizabeth Miller Matoy; sister, Nancy Elizabeth Shirk; brother, Floyd Garfield Matoy and infant brother, Fletcher Matoy. White, James Thomas, age 78, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2001, at Parkwest Hospital. J. T. was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 33 years of service. J.T. was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 45th Division in France and Italy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Abner White and Mary Kirkland White; brothers, Bryan and Homer White; sister, Edith Pennell. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Estelle Terry White; daughter, Linda of Powell; son, Gary of Lenoir City; granddaughter, Alicia Maples of Lenoir City; sister, Gertrude Steen of Kannapolis, N.C. . Rogers, Dorthy Ledford (Dot), age 61, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday morning, December 23, 2001 at her home. Dot was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the church quartet and served as church pianist for over 25 years. She was a former nursing supervisor at Eastern State Hospital in Knoxville. Dot was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her grandaughter, Amanda Blake Nelson; father, Clyde (Buck) Ledford; brother, Bud Ledford; grandmother, Carrie Chastain. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles (Buddy) Rogers; daughter, Connie Nelson and husband, Randall; grandson, Tanner Nelson; mother, Eula Ledford; sister Geneva Kelley and husband, Rev. Johnson, Charles Raymond, age 66, of Greenback, TN, formerly of Orange Beach, AL, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2001. Charles was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut, TN. He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, the Knights of Columbus and the Serra Club of Knoxville. Charles was a tireless volunteer for the Catholic Social Services of Robertsdale, AL and Harriman, TN. He retired after 33 years with Fisher Body Division of General Motors. Charles served in the United States Navy. Retired in 1973 from Charles H. Bacon Hosiery Mill. Preceded in death by husband, Charles S. Collins, Sr.; parents, W. E. Lentz, David G., age 55, of Loudon formerly of Carbondale, PA passed away Monday, December 24, 2001 at the Park West Medical Center. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. Retired from the trucking industry. David had recently been employed with Carlex Glass Co. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U. S. Army as Sergeant E5. Survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Lentz; children, Kris VerBerkmoes, Samantha Thomas, Davey Lentz and Jessie Lentz; grandchildren, Briana, Alexandra, Gabriel and Nicole; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Johann and Ega Gerwien. Doug was a graduate of Lenoir City High School Class of 1972 and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Concord and was a leader in the church youth activities. He was an employee of TVA, working out of the Knoxville office. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Armelia (Mib) Burnett Sowards. Bray, Clarence Edward, age 52, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2001 at the Generations Center in Spencer, TN He was of the Baptist faith. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ruth Petty Bray. He is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Petty officiating. Whitaker, Mozelle Renshaw, age 86, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2001 at the Baptist Health Care in Lenoir City. born in Shannon, Mississippi, Mrs. Whitaker attended high school and graduated from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a leader in Methodist Women’s organizations, a teacher in public school, day care and in Christian education. In recent years, she lived in Lenoir City and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Loudon Co. Beautification Board and formerly active with other civic groups. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Whitaker. She is survived by daughter, Anna Smith and her husband, Jake of Newport, R.I.; son, Bill Whitaker and his wife, Jane of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Jeff Smith of Boston, MA, Heather Adams of Boston, MA, Laura Matzek of Charleston, S.C., and David Whitaker of Lenoir City; and niece, Betty Barber of Clinton, MS. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1p.m. Saturday with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Gregory and Rev. Cecil Benoit officiating. Duggins, Dr. Robert Lee, age 83, of Lenoir City, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 1, 2001, at Park West Hospital. Dr. Duggins was a retired Lenoir City dentist with 33 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Dr. Duggins was a former member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, Second District and the Lenoir City Civitan Club. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army in the Philippines and Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sephia Moore Duggins; sister, Polly Duggins Ladd. Survivors: wife of 51 years, Frankie Harris Duggins; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Joseph H. and Helen Duggins of Norris; brother-in-law, A. B. Ladd of Bristol; nephew, Judge Richard E. Ladd of Bristol; great nephews, Rick and Mike Ladd. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Friday at the Clarks Grove Cemetery in Maryville for graveside services with Rev. Dick DeMerchant officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 212 South Peters Rd., Knoxville, TN 37923. Schnell, Beverly Elaine, age 23, of Knoxville, formerly of Florida, passed away early Thursday morning August 2, 2001 at Park West Hospital. Beverly loved children and was a loving mother and wife. Survivors: husband, Shawn Schnell; sons, Nathaniel and Cameron Schnell; mother, Dorothy Anderson Carter; father, Charles Carter; brothers and sisters, Laura, Cheryl, Tim, Jim, Charles, Robert and Lisa; several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life at 4 P.M. Hamrick, Rubye Mae Dixon, age 82 of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday August 1, 2001 at the Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Etta Freeman Dixon; a son, Gregory Hamrick; step_father, Walter Chapman; brother, Raleigh Dixon; sisters, Wilma Hayas, Pauline Anderson, Anna Lee Huggins and Louise Davidson; She is survived by a son, Gary Hamrick of Colorado Springs, Co.; 2 daughters, Beverly Finley and Donna Brewer, both of Charlotte, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great_grandchildren including Gregory and Ashley Hamrick of Lenoir City; Several nieces and nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 6_7:30 P.M. Saturday with funeral services to follow at 7:30 P.M. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Seay officiating. Holmes, Sarah Elizabeth Rives, age 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the Farragut Health Care Center. Elizabeth had made her home in the metro Knoxville area for the past six years moving from Searcy, Arkansas to be closer to her son, Dr. Howard Holmes also formerly of Searcy. Mrs. Holmes came to Searcy in 1962 where she attended Harding College and taught Conversational Spanish in the Searcy Public School System. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a strong supporter of the church mission work. She was a world traveler and lived for a time in Venezuela. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert and Reggie Rives. Survivors include her son, Dr. Howard Holmes and wife Georgie of Lenoir City, TN; three sisters: Susan Alexander of Shreveport, La., Virginia Hardman of Hillsboro, Tx. And Evelyn Richardson of Little Rock, Ar.; numerous nieces and nephews. At Elizabeth's request, her body was cremated and a memorial service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Children's Home 5515 Old Walcott Rd, Paragould, Arkansas 72450-9983. Richeson, Mary Cordelia Mealer, age 79, of Lenoir City, passed Saturday morning, August 3, 2001 at the Loudon Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Dewey Richeson; daughter, Rebecca Richeson; parents, John Manson and Artie Elizabeth Mealer; sister, Hester Lizzie Mae Hanson; brother, Arthur Alonzo Mealer. Mary is survived by her children: Floyd Richeson of Tampa, Fl., Michael Richeson and wife Sherry of Lenoir City and Patsy King of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren: David, Andrea, Elizabeth, Dana, Chris, Kevin and Joseph;sister, Dollie Bunch of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Lenoir City cemetery with Andrew Ballew officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.
