She was a resident of the Loudon Health Care Center for the past three years. Vida was preceded in death by parents, Rufus Pickel and Tennie Hudson Pickel. Husband, Homer Purkey. Kirby, John C., age 65, of Lenoir City, passed away early Monday morning September 27, 1999 at the Loudon Health Care Center. John was a member of Lee Heights Baptist Church. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Army. He was retired from Ceil Heat. John was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Watt Kirby. Parents, Carl Kirby and Julia Gound Thurmer Kirby. Lee, Gid Austin Jr., age 77, of 905 B Street, Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday morning September 29, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Gid was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, Avery Lodge 593 F&AM, Eastern Star Lenoir Chapter #188, Scottish Rite Bodies, Shriners, Chapter and Council. Gid was retired from Robert Shaw Industries. He was preceded in death by brother, Bill Lee. Survivors: wife, Ruby Norris Lee. Hooks, Michael Alexander, age 16, of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening September 29, 1999 in an automobile accident. Michael was a sophomore at Lenoir City High School. He attended Kingston Pike and West Broadway Baptist Churches. Survivors: Mother, Mildred Skidmore Hooks with whom he made his home. Father and step-mother, James and Connie Hooks of Lenoir City. Brothers and sisters-in-law, James Hooks Jr. and Belinda of Loudon, Mark and Stephanie Hooks of Colorado. Step sisters and husbands, Amy and Joe Vincil, Heather and Brian Simpson all of Lenoir City. Walker, Louise Dishner, age 74, of Loudon, passed away Wednesday morning September 29, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Louise was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Louise gave herself to others and was a good friend and caregiver. She was a missionary to the community and was a board member of a non profit organization that met the needs of the elderly and others. She was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Pearl Dishner. Husband, Fred Walker. Brothers, Bus Dishner and James Dishner. Sister, Margaret Dishner Smith. Mary was of the Baptist Faith and attended the Tellico Village Community Church. She is survived by her spouse of 56 years, Thomas D. Skaggs, Chester Fredrick, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday morning October 8, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Fred was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with over twenty years of service as a flight engineer. A veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Fred also retired from Japan Air Lines as a cockpit crew instructor and later flew for Singapore Air Lines. He was a member of Avery Lodge # 593 F&AM, Shriners and York Rite. Survivors: wife, Jan Brewster Skaggs. Brother and sister-in-law, George and Doris Skaggs of Severn Maryland. Crowder, Thomas Ezra, age 99, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday morning October 11, 1999 at the Farragut Health Care Center. Tom was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Volunteer Sunday School Class and the Knox County Retired Teachers Associaton. He was a 50 year member of Avery Lodge 593 F&AM and Farragut OES Chapter # 459 where he was a Past Patron. Tom taught school in Roane and Knox Counties for many years and retired as a chemist from Union Carbide K-25. Preceded in death by wife, Anna Roberts Crowder. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Rev. He was retired from Union Carbide, Y-12 area after 32 years of service. He was a member of IBEW Local 760. He was of the Baptist Faith. Preceded in death by his father, Jasper Williams; mother, Minnie Shipwash Williams; daughter, Penny Diane Williams; sister, Pearlie Mae Babb. Whistler, Donald Lee Sr., age 68, of Lenoir City formerly of Independence, Kansas passed away Thursday morning, October 14, 1999 at the Farragut Health Care Center. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. He served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Don was a member of the American Legion Post #202 in Gatlinburg, TN. A National Officer of Jaycees and Order of Demolay. Survivors: wife, Maxine Spangler Whistler; parents, Glen and Thelma Whistler of Gatlinburg; four children, Donald Lee Whistler Jr. of Lenoir City, Susan Murray of Lenoir City, Burt Whistler of Atlanta, GA. and Sarah Womack of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Phillip and Mary Farmer and Whitney Smith; sister-in-law and husband, Sonya and George Fowler of Louisville, KY.; niece and nephew, Angela and Wesley Fowler. Gooden, Alice Suzanne (Suzy) (Kreme) (Ethel) Waychoff, age 48, of Gatlinburg, formerly of Chattanooga, born May 20, 1951, died October 13, 1999. Beautiful daughter of L.K. and Mary Jo Gooden, granddaughter of Floyd and Ida Gooden, Judge and Mrs. Joe F. Goodson. Wild times and free being marked her life and gave all who met her fantastic memories and overwhelming feelings of joy. Since her 1969 graduation from City High School in Chattanooga, and attendance at Tennessee Weslyan, she stretched her legs and found her way across this country too many times to count. She found her passion and exercised it at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. From that point on, a true artist walked among us. She moved from place to place, exploring and capturing the world. But the only place that was home was the Smokies. It is where she always returned and where she will always rest. Still missing her are her husband, Bob, children, Anna and Aaron, Mother, Mary Jo, Brothers, Joe and Sam and too many blood brothers and sisters to count. Ford, Earl Franklin, age 77, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning October 20, 1999 in Corbin Kentucky. Earl was retired from Holiday Inn as an Innkeeper. He was a member of Dutch Valley Church of God in Knoxville. A veteran of World War II serving with the Navy. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Flossie Stelman Ford. 2 Brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors: wife, Jean Hudson Ford. Daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Monk of Knoxville. Brogan, Rev. Ester Y., age 45, of Edinburg, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday October 16, 1999 in Texas. Ester was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. A loving wife and mother and dear friend. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Alberto Ybanez. Heye, Pamela Karen, age 58, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday evening October 20, 1999 at her home after a courageous fight with cancer. Pamela was born May 21, 1941 in Pittsfield, Mass. to Francis and Gertrude Hall Douglas. She was married December 31, 1960 to Karl Heye. Before moving to Tennessee they lived in Appleton, Wisconsin for 19 years. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Pamela was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Timothy Douglas. Survivors: Husband, R. Karl Heye. Velte, Bernard Ernest Jr., age 61, of the Tellico Village Community Loudon Tennessee, formerly of West Branch MI., Louisville KY., Tomball TX., Pascagoula MS., and Corning N.Y., passed away suddenly Thursday October 21, 1999 while visiting in Munising Michigan. born in West Branch Michigan he attended high school there and then attended Graceland College in Lamoni Iowa and Tri-State Engineering University in Indiana where he received a Civil Engineering degree. Barney was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and currently attended the Tellico Village Community Church in Loudon. He worked for Saint Gobain/Norton Industries as a Senior Application Engineer. His interests included a love of music, and of nature and he was an avid fisherman, bow hunter and golfer. Barney was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Ernest Velte Sr. A devoted husband, son and father, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Bauer Velte. Daughters and sons-in-law, Jenelle Elizabeth and Patrick Manuel of Marriottsville MD., Kristen Doreen and Jeff Hammond of Melbourne Australia. Grandchildren, Courtney, Madison and Cody Manuel. Mother, Jennie Ellis Preston Velte of Palm Harbor Fl. Brother, Carl Jon Velte of Munising MI. Sisters, Bernadine Ellis Braithwaite of Palm Harbor FL. And Carrol Irene Hacht of West Branch MI. Barney was also loved by his many nieces,nephews, in-laws and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday October 25, 1999 at the Tellico Village Community Church Rev. Robinett, Bonnie, age 99, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday evening October 21, 1999 at her home. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Garlie Robinett. Children, Margaret and Ray Robinett. Sons-in-law, Ray Brown and Paul Coley.Daughter-in-law, Edna Robinett. Survivors: daughters and son-in-law, Emma Jane Coley, Marie Turpin and Ethel Moore Robinett all of Lenoir City, Maxine and Bill Johnson of Kingston. Sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Erna Robinett of Dayton Ohio, James Rollen Robinett of Lenoir City, Tom and Linda Robinett of Lenoir City. 24 grandchildren. Several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 P.M. Saturday followed by funeral services at 8 P.M. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel Rev. George Seay officiating. Family and friends will gather at 2 P.M. Justice, Andrew John, age 68, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, October 22, 1999 at his home. He was of the Baptist Faith. Retired from Wamplers Farm Sausage Co. after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army. Preceded in death by parents, Dave & Elsie Justice; sisters, Bernice Justice and Eula Miller; brother, Reese Justice. Survived by his wife, Anna Sue Roberts Justice; children, David Justice, Steve Justice, Roger Justice and Jeannie Adams all of Lenoir City, Anita Feezell of Athens; grandchildren, Derrick Davis, Courtney Adams, Josh Justice, Alexis Justice and Hannah Feezell; brother, Arthur Justice of Tacoma, WA.; sister, Ruth Perry, Spartanburg, S.C.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the East TN Veteran Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City.

Spoon, Kenneth H., age 71, of Lenoir City, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 23, 1999. Kenneth retired from Lenoir City Utilities and spent his retirement years playing golf, fishing, bowling and enjoyed singing in his church. Kenneth’s home church was Primitive Baptist Church but he frequently attended Highland Park Baptist with his children. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Spoon, sister, Alberta Aikens and brother, Hubert Spoon. Kenneth was a loving father to Dru and Lee Ellis, Becky Scarbrough, Janie and Rev. Tony Collins and Ken and Lisa Spoon. He was the proud grandfather of David and Joy Ellis, Christin Cooley, Justen and Eric Collins and great grandfather to Kayla Cooley who could always put a smile on his face. Others left to cherish all the memories are; The mother of his children, Amanda Spoon, his mother, Ruth Spoon, devoted sisters and brothers-in law, Mable and Clarence Brown, Nancy and Wayne Richardson, Judy and Harold Hembree. Devoted brothers and sister-in law; Bill and June Spoon and Jim and Loree Spoon. There are many other relatives and very close friends. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held October 25th at 7:00 pm at the Highland Park Baptist Church with Elder Chester Hembree officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Pallbearers will include; Glenn Williams, Coy Plemmons, Freddie Nelson, Ray Reno, Wayne Richardson, and Harold Hembree. Honorary pallbearers will include; Arnold McReynolds, Harry Plemmons, Jim Cook, Reaford Bailey, John Roberts, Joe Webester, Joe Williamson, Don Pardue, J.W. Seele, Bill Matlock, Jack Hickney, Carl Robinson and Herbert Linginfelter. Family and friends will gather at 11am Tuesday in the Loudon co. Memorial Gardens for graveside services. Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
