Billingsley, Bathis Lawrence was born to the late Demarauis Walker and Abe Billingsley on July 29, 1939 in Martel, TN. He departed this life Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Loudon Health Care Center. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, Lenoir City. He attended High Point High, Sweetwater, TN. He held many jobs during his adult life. He was an automobile mechanic, truck driver, school bus driver, and church bus driver. He is survived by his children, Perry (Nadine) Billingsley, Ray Billingsley and Lora Kilby, and former wife, Grace Billingsley of Lenoir City, Le Roy, Sandra, Debbie, Tracy Neel, of Cincinnati, OH, Lisa Billingsley Hernandez of Knoxville, TN, Anthony Billingsley of Lenoir City, Adam and Anthony Pringle of Lenoir City; Eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Wilhelmina Saffell of Columbus, OH and Wanda Jackson of Rogersville; two brothers, Gilbert Pride of Asheville, N.C. and Paul Walker of Rome, GA.; one uncle; two aunts; a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a church family and many friends. Skidmore, John Marshall, age 86, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2002 at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Hospital. A member of Silver Ridge Baptist Church and retired from Southern Railway. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 65 years, Easter earlier this year. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Addie Duncan Skidmore; granddaughter, Barbara Jean Cook and brothers: Arthur, Ebb and Bill Skidmore. AYCOCK, GLADYS HERRON - 91 of Knoxville, TN, Hardin Valley Community, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002 at Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital. She was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church where she worked in the Nursery for approximately 32 years. She was retired from Knox County School System Cafeteria Division. She also worked at Camp Ba Yo Ca with the Knox County Baptist Association for several years during the Summer. She was preceded in death by husband, Jasper Aycock; parents, John and Ina Herron; brothers, Flem, Ralph, Hubert and Archie Leonard; sisters, Mary Ellen Wilburn, Marguerite Herron, and Zara Herron. McGinnis, Avery Jack, age 80, of the Highland Park Community, Lenoir City and a resident of Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center passed away Saturday morning, November 16, 2002 at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. A longtime mechanic and former employee of Elm Hill Meats. Avery served in the Navy Seabees during World War II where he earned the Asiatic Pacific and Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Henry and Bertha Roach McGinnis; sister, Beulah M. Gentry and an infant sister; brother, Fred H. McGinnis. Avery is survived by his wife, Birdie Ailene Compton McGinnis; sons, Jackie M.(Jack) McGinnis and wife, Dorothy of Church Hill, TN, Michael T. (Mike) McGinnis of Lenoir City; daughters, Deborah D. Nutter, Mary Shoun, age 89, of Radford, VA, formerly of Lenoir City, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 16, 2002 in Virginia. She was born May 8, 1913 in Butler, TN the daughter of Arthur and Grace Shoun. She was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Nutter Sr.; brothers: Sonny, Thelmer and John Shoun; sisters, Nancy Langlands and Edna Gissendanner; son-in-law, Louis Thompson. Hurst, Luanne Harden, age 66, of Farragut, TN, formerly of Rockville, MD, passed away Tuesday evening November 19, 2002, at Park West Hospital. Luanne was born on December 5, 1935 in Watkinsville, GA to Bernard Amrey Harden Sr. and Carolyn Biggers Harden who preceded her in death. She was a former resident of Rockville, MD leaving there in 1988 and was the former director of the Montgomery College Child Care Center. Luanne was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and received her masters degree from the University of Tennessee. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers, a member of the Friends of the Garden, a knowledgeable bird watcher, and loved to hike and travel. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors: loving husband of 42 years, Joe F. After that she, with husband and children, lived for many years in Oak Ridge, TN before moving to Knoxville. She is of the Baptist Faith and former member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, TN. Stallings, Patricia Jane "Pat", 58 of Farragut, passed away Thursday morning, November 21, 2002, following an extended illness. She was a geometry and algebra teacher for 34 years in the Loudon and Knox County School systems, teaching for the majority of that time at Farragut High School. Pat loved entering contests and won many, not only for herself but for family and friends. She was of the Baptist Faith Preceded in death by parents, J. D. Stallings and Janie Ervin. Hickey, Charles Jack, age 72, of Crossville, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday evening, November 23, 2002 at the Cumberland Memorial Hospital. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. He retired from Martin Marietta Y-12 Plant after 35 years as Lab Supervisor. Jack was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. During his service Jack was honored with several medals including the Purple Heart. He was life member and very active with the DAV. Jack graduated from LCHS in 1951 and afterwards attended Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship. He worked with the Little League sports programs in Lenoir City for many years. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Hickey Archer earlier this year. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mamie Hickey; nephews, Ray Neal and Billy Garner. Blakney, Dora (Granny B.), age 96, of Wartburg formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Friday evening, November 22, 2002 at Life Care Center in Wartburg. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wartburg. A former employee of Goodwin Drug Store in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by husband, B. W. Blakney; son, Charles Porter Blakney; granddaughter, Cindy Blakney Susak; brother, Charles Long; and sister, Sue Stockton. Survived by sons, Rev. James Blakney and wife, Betty of Wartburg, Oscar Blakney and wife, Elizabeth of Fayetteville; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Vera Bivens and Mary Blakney of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. MCGILL, WILLIAM WESLEY, C.P.O. USN, ret.of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2002 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a decorated Naval veteran of WWII, who served aboard the USS Kanawah until its destruction by the Japanese during the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was reassigned to the USS Colorado and served as a gunnery captain throughout the remainder of the war, participating in ten major battles in the Pacific Theater. He resumed civilian life and worked for 5 years at Boeing in Tacoma, WA. He rejoined the military as a Navy recruiter for over 20 years. In 1981, he returned to his native Knoxville, where he attended the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1983 with a degree in History and Asian Studies. William W. McGill was an active member of his community aiding in veterans' affairs issues, assisting museums in Tennessee and Washington, D.C., and participating in numerous educational forums in Tennessee public schools and universities on patriotism and military service in WWII. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. He was also an active member of the Philippine American Association of East Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Walter and Carrie Harris McGill, uncle and WWII USA Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Troy McGill, brothers Walter O. "Chick" McGill, Charles B. McGill, and sister Mary Love Maloy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years Rose Cortez McGill; Daughters and sons-in-law: Beth and Ralph Atchley of Malta, Montana; Cindell and Dan Moe of Missoula, Montana; Sons and daughters-in-law: Beattie Bill and Debbie McGill of Darby, Montana; Michael and Jill McGill of Missoula, Montana; Walter "Chick"and Barbara McGill of Tennessee; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Stephen and Mildred McGill; David and Sandi McGill; Sister Ann McGill Dockery; Grandchildren: Bethany, Seth, Kasey, Carrie, Patrick, Rebecca, Lucas, and Abby; and numerous nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 2, 2002 from 6 to 7:45 p.m with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Bobby Mullins and Rev.
