Adams, Terry Cleemont, age 75, formerly of St. Charles, Virginia, was called home Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Columbus, Ohio, following an extended illness. born July 4, 1926, Terry was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason and York Rite Temple Shriner, a licensed professional civil engineer, a graduate of St. Charles High School, Ohio University and the University of Tennessee. A proud veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Adams, mother, Edith G. (Wacks) Adams; sister, Dorothy Adams and brother, Edward G. Adams. In expectation of Christ's return, he joins another sister, Eva Ruth (Adams) Warner and brother, David H. Adams at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Martin, Lillie Lorene, age 73, of Farragut, TN, formerly of El Reno, Oklahoma, passed away early Thursday morning May 23, 2002 at U. T. Hospital. Mrs. Martin was a talented artist and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leeroy and Cora Williams Heidelberg; sister, Mary Sue Heidelberg Wilson. Baughman, May Lawson of Knoxville died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at U T Medical Center. Mrs. Baughman was born May 14, 1908 in Manchester, Massachusetts, the daughter of James and Hannah W. Lawson. She was the widow of S. Milton Baughman. A 1927 graduate of Westerly, Rhode Island High School, she shortly thereafter began a career with Western Union Telegraph Company which spanned 40 years, retiring in 1969 as Manager of the New Canaan, Connecticut office. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David A. Baughman. Mrs. Baughman is survived by two sons, James L. Baughman of Loudon, TN and William S. Baughman of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren, Peter H. Baughman of Lebanon, CT; David J. Baughman of Waukesha, WI; Robert G. Baughman of Knoxville, TN; Lynda Bauer of Monroe, CT; and William S. Dial, Jean Leisey, age 75, of Farragut passed away May 25, 2002, at Park West Hospital after waging a 34-year battle with a rare form of cancer. She was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, but lived most of her life in Tennessee where she was active in school, church and community activities. A 45-year resident of Farragut, she was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and the Special Studies Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Concord Chapter of the Eastern Star, a long-time member of the Farragut Garden Club, and served in numerous leadership positions in Girl Scouting, including terms as neighborhood chairman and as a troop leader. In addition to her community activities, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, visiting all 50 US states and 56 foreign countries. She worked for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta between 1945 and 1949, where she met her husband of 53 years, Ralph E. Dial. She later worked as a customer service agent for Sears. She was preceded in death by her father and mother James H. and Anna Leisey, sister Marian Small of Florida, and brothers Robert, Gilbert and Raymond Sprague, all of Pennsylvania. Her oldest daughter, Cheryl Lynne, died in 1971 at age 18. She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Dial of Farragut, daughter Kristye Dial of Atlanta, and daughter and son-in-law Robin and Phillip Rawls of Montgomery, Alabama. Grandchildren Gantt Rawls and Leigh Rawls are also of Montgomery. Livingston, Robert S., age 87, of Powell, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 6, 2002, at NHC Cavett Hill. Mr. Livingston was born in Summerland, California. He received his bachelors degree from Pomona College and his PHD from the University of California Berkeley. Mr. Livingston moved to Oak Ridge in 1943. During his career, he was Director of the Electronuclear Research Division and a pioneer in cyclotron research and development. He retired in 1982, as Director of Program Planning and Analysis at ORNL. He was a Senior Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Mr. Livingston was a charter member of Church of the Savior, United Church of Christ, Knoxville. Hardin, Benjamin J., Sr., age 66, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, March 8, 2002, at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. Ben was a member of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church. He was Camp Director of the Loudon District B.M.&E Association. He was preceded in death by mother and father, William Hardin and Demaras Walker; sister, Nannie Clark; brother, James Avery Hardin. Frank Hicks Evans age 82, died Thursday evening at Durham Regional Hospital after a brief illness. born in Lenoir City, TN to the late Charles Robert and Fannie Hambright Evans, Frank lived in Durham for 47 years and was an active and long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Cornelia Sunday School Class. After graduating from Lenoir City High School, Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during WWII. He received a BA Degree from High Point College and subsequently studied at Duke Divinity School. Frank taught in the Statesville, Hillsborough and Durham Public School Systems for 31 years. He spent 25 of those years at Durham High School as a teacher, football and track coach, dean of boys and assistant principal before his retirement in 1981. A dedicated and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Frank was popular and well respected by the many students he taught and coached during his exemplary career. He was a man of strong Christian faith who always set an example for those around him. Accepting credit for his many accomplishments was not Frank’s style. Instead, in his own modest and humble way, Frank preferred to leave the spotlight to others. Frank is survived by two children, Carolyn Evans-Rose Parker and husband, Wiley, of Wendell; Charles Robert Evans and wife, Annette, of Cary; three grandchildren, David Rose and wife, Chiyon; and Blaire and Tyler Evans; a close family friend, Staton Strother; and former son-in-law, Randy Rose. Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Eva Lois Starnes Evans, who died in July 2001. Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Sunday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Durham, NC. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery. Varner, Rodney William (Bill), age 63, of Lenoir City, formerly of Harrisburg, Pa and Shippensburg, Pa, passed away early Monday morning March 11, 2002 at his home. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving 2 tours with the U. S. Marines Corps and retiring after 12 years of service. He was a member of Roofers Local #30. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Vincent Michael (Mike) Varner and Doris Goode of Lenoir City; daughters and sons-in-law, Devy and Chris Bellnier of Lenoir City, Vickie Kim and David Kincaid of Biloxi, MS; 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
