Hanson, Johnny L., formerly of Lenoir City, Tennessee, passed away Monday, March 11, 2002, after a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; step children, Tonya and Butch of Garland, Texas, and son, Ronnie of Destin, Florida. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Hester Hanson; sisters Mattie Cardin, Joyce Peardon, and Ruth Chote, and brothers, Buck and Boyd Hanson. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Kenneth Maxwell of Lenoir City, Tennessee, brother, James Hanson of Fort Worth, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Linda Hanson of Lenoir City, Tennessee plus a host of nieces and nephews. Sullivan, Beverly L., age 70, of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon County, TN passed away March 12 at St. Mary's Select Specialty Hospital. She and her husband John resided in the Village for over 12 years. She attended the Village Community Church. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lorna and Russell Brockway of Farmington, MI .In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Stephen, James and Lawrence Wahlberg and by stepsons, John, Michael, and David Sullivan, her twin sister Barbara Wozniak and brother-in-law Gene, and brother David and sister-in-law Lillian plus nine grandchildren.
Beverly graduated from Michigan State University and earned a Masters Degree from Wayne State University. She was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Dearborn, MI and Fairfax County, VA. Her students (and their parents) loved her as did all who met her, She had an ineffable sweetness that permeated her being. She was very active in community activities over the past decade including teaching GED classes in Lenoir City, TN, working with the book club, the art group, the Village Players, and the Walk and Talk group. Bev was a creative artist, working primarily in water colors. She usually had pictures displayed in the annual art show and the art/music lunch each January. She enjoyed the lake both for swimming and boating. In the early nineties, she helped coordinate the weekly pontoon boat picnics. But in the main, she loved to travel, making over a dozen trips to Europe. She had almost as much fun planning the trips as actually taking them. Mostly she loved life and living in Tellico Village. The people she met here were her friends and she held to them as close as she could. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 15 at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Green, Amy Carmen, age 96, of Farragut, beloved mom, grandmother, and great grandmother, accepted the call from Jesus to come home Friday afternoon, March 15, 2002 at Park West Hospital, after a fruitful life. Amy dedicated her life to her home and family. She was active in the community serving as President of the Home Demonstration Club 1967, a leader for the Girl Scouts, and a member of the Farragut Church of Christ. Jenkins, Raymond F.(Cokomo), age 91, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday morning, March 16, 2002, at the Loudon Health Care Center. Raymond was born September 4, 1910 to George and Annie Hunt Jenkins. He was a retired machinist with Bacon Hosiery Mill and a longtime gunsmith in Lenoir City. He was a lifetime member of NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ella Mae Lively. Betty was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. She was a member of the local chapter of the AARP, the Loudon County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Betty was retired from Lenoir City Schools with 25 years service. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Sue Sweeney; father, Otho Beverly and brother, Billy Beverly. Geneva was retired from the Knox County Property Assessor's Office after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and past President of the UMW. Norman, James L., age 56, of Chambersurg, Pa., formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday March 21, 2002 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He is the son of Frances Thompson Norman and the Late Luther Norman. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Master's Degree in Musical Arts. He was employed by the federal government for 30 Years as a computer programmer, retiring from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1999. At the time of his death he was employed by Computer Science Corp. At Letterkenny, Mr. Norman was a great supporter of classical music and was a member of Mensa. Blake, William Wallace (Bill), age 68, of West Knoxville, passed away Wednesday morning March 27, 2002 at his home. Bill was a member of West Emory Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Michigan State University, retired from Garland Coal Company and a member of the Knoxville Coal Club. He was a long time member of Fox Den County Club, an avid golfer, boater, and a member of Knoxville Power Squadron, Inc. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Beach, Dr. Charles L. (Lt. General U.S. Army Retired) of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at his home. Charlie was born in Loudon County to Sola John and Gladys Beach. He graduated from Lenoir City High School, Hiwassee College, University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Mercer University South School of Pharmacy and Nashville School of Law. He was the pharmacist for several area drugstores. He served as Judicial Commissioner for Williamson County. Charlie practiced law as a criminal defense attorney in East Tennessee. He was a former member of Tennessee National Guards having serving in the 278th infantry and the 190th Med Company. He went on to become commander of the Unit in Knoxville on Sutherland Avenue. Charlie was a graduate of the United States Army Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was 32nd degree Mason and a Knight Templar. Charlie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Bell Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Jo Beach and Mary Sue Beach Howell; brothers, William Marion (Buddy) Beach, Robert Allen (Bobby) Beach and S. J. Reddick, Ralph Gordon, of West Knoxville, died peacefully on the evening of March 25th, 2002 with his wife of 35 years, Allene, by his side at his home. born in Gallatin, TN in 1931, son of James Harris Reddick and Callie Mae Perry Reddick, Ralph moved to Knoxville following his service in the Korean War with the U. S. Air Force. An active member of the Knoxville community for 40 years, he was the former Vice President and Partner of Duchess Beauty Supply, a member of the East Tennessee Dance Club, King Solomon Lodge #94 F&AM, the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies, and a life member of the Shriners Kerbela Temple. Known as a wise and caring husband and father, Ralph was also an avid bridge player, enthusiastic musician, a natural salesman, and fun-loving friend to many. Ralph is survived by his loving wife Allene Denton Reddick, his children Barry Denton Reddick of Knoxville, Bradley Harris Reddick and wife, Melissa Black Reddick, and grandson Benjamin Wiley Reddick of Boston, MA. Sandra was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. She was a retired teacher from Arthur Elementary School in Arthur, IL. She served in the Peace Corps in the Fiji Islands for five years. Sandra was an artist and a friend to many. Brown, Ruby Faye, age 62, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2002 at her home. She was a faithful and loving wife, a beloved mother and grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. Ruby was a member of Pine Top Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and active member until the Lord called her home. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Miller; sister, Sylvia Miller of Wartburg. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jessie Joe Brown; sons, Joey Brown of Lenoir City, Dewey Brown and wife Robin of Kingston; grandson, Isaac Brown who she loved and adored; sisters, June Lloyd of Lansing, Thelma Stringfield of Wartburg, Margaret Nance of Coalfield, and Gail Burchfield of Oak Ridge; brother, David Miller of Wartburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Mike Boring officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Parker, Elizabeth Louise Adcox, age 64, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday morning, June 4, 2002 at home with her family. She was a charter member of Nelson Street Baptist Church in which she participated in the fund raising and building efforts of the church. Preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lou Adcox Chaney; father, Ernest Lee Adcox; son, Anthony Parker and special cousins, Ralph Vincil and Buster Vincil. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tony Crawley of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Sara and Jason Webb, Jenny Duncan all of Lenoir City; former husband and friend, Josephus Parker of Lenoir City; very special aunt, Mary Kate Vincil of Lenoir City; special cousins, Carol Ann and J. C. Ingram, Susie Heath of Lenoir City, Ruth Fisher of Morristown, and Margaret McKee of Madisonville. Kent, Evelyn A., age 68, of Knoxville, formerly of Dripping, Springs, TX, passed away Tuesday morning, June 4, 2002 after a lengthy illness. She was a loving Mother and Mamaw, devoted Christian, and wonderful friend. She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church in Loudon. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Retired from Robert Shaw Fulton. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Liz Tuck of Pensacola, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Donnie Moore of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Michael Tuck and Lisa Tuck of Pensacola, FL, Mark and April Moore, Jennifer and Dusty Langley of Lenoir City, Danny Upshire of CO, Barry Upshire of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Zackary Dylan, Chelsey DeeAnne, Tyler, Brittany, Daniel, Dillion, Cody and Amerissa; several nieces and nephews.
