Nolan, Betty Moyer, age 75, of Lenoir City, TN, formerly of Pleasant Gap, Pa., passed away Monday, December 30, 2002 at the Loudon Health Care Center in Tennessee. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. She was former employed with Bell Telephone Co. and later retired from Center County Vocational School. She was preceded in death by husband, Gerald T. Nolan and daughters, Denise Nolan and Sheri Truan; parents, Guy E. and Katheryn Smith Moyer. Survived by daughter and sons-in-law, and Debbie and Bob Moore of Lenoir City, TN and Tom Truan of Lake City, Pa. grandchildren, Weston and Brittany Moore of Lenoir City; brothers, Lloyd Moyer of Murray, Ky. and Kenneth Moyer of Woodward, Pa.; sister, Barbara Alexander of Hountzdale, Pa.; several nieces and nephews. Marsh, Joseph Eugene, age 86, of Loudon, passed away Monday, December 30, 2002 at Loudon Health Care Center. He was a member of Helton Springs Baptist Church in Grainger Co. A veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Army. Joe was retired from T. V. A. Preceded in death by wife, Agnes M. Marsh; son, Joseph Jr.; parents, Burt Marsh, W. F. and Della Ford; grandson, Jacob Stroot; brothers, Letcher Ray Marsh, Adrain Ford and Horace Ford; sisters, Roetta Jones, Eva Lickliter, and Viven (Bid) Ford . McGaughey, Leslie Farrell age 38, a native of Mobile, Alabama, a resident of Loudon for the past three years, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 31, 2002. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Survived by husband, Earl F. McGaughey; daughter, Meg Farrell Aubrey; son, Andrew (Drew) Farrell McGaughey; parents, Norma Leffew Farrell and Bernie Farrell of Loudon; sister, Anita Albano and husband, Terry; niece and nephew, Hannah and Connor Albano all of Mobile, AL.; many other relatives, friends, and her Ruby Tuesday family. The family wishes to express a very special thanks to Ruby Tuesdays Corporate Office in Maryville for the many acts of kindness shown to them during Leslie's illness. Borden, Beatrice W., age 89, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, February 1, 2002 at the Woods Presbyterian Home in Sweetwater. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Retired from Alcoa. Beatrice was a 25 year club member. Preceded in death by husband, Odie Borden; and son, Bob Borden. Survived by son, Holland Borden and wife, Delois of Lenoir City; daughter-in-law, Joyce Borden of Greenback; grandchildren, Ronald E. Cunningham, Edith White, age 83, of Lenoir City went to her heavenly home Friday, February 1, 2002. She was born August 10, 1918 in Maryville, TN Edith graduated from Central High School in 1937. She retired from Blue Diamond Coal Company in 1991. She was a member of Martel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Cunningham; brothers, Robert Levi White and Jack White. She will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane C. and Jim Giffin; sons and daughter-in-laws, John and Gwen Cunningham, Joe and Leah Cunningham, David Cunningham; special daughter, Martha Long, and son, Tim Cunningham; grandchildren, Wendy Cunningham Bratcher, Mathew Cunningham, Katie and Beth Cunningham, Luke and Mark Giffin; great grandson, Jack Bratcher; sisters, Helen Stover and Barbara Williams. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City where she had been a Sunday School Teacher for the 5 year old class for 28 years. A member of Vonore Eastern Star. Preceded in death by brother, J. P. Munsey. Survived by husband of 50 years, Melvin Pressley; daughter, Geretta Wood and husband, Doug of Germantown, Md; 2 granddaughters, Lorrie Simcox, Beth Simcox; grandson, Kevin Wood all of Germantown, Md; several cousins. Carroll, Anna Sue Peak Peterson age 83, of Loudon, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning February 3, 2002, at her home. Sue was a member of Lake View Missionary Baptist Church on Fox Road in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Peak Moore and father, Frank Peak. Survivors: husband of 36 years, Alfred Carroll; brother, Sonny Moore of Knoxville; special cousin and friend, Tootsie Cowan and husband Happy of Colt, AR; special friends, Frances and Ted McConkey, Sandra Brown; several other friends and family. Franklin, Virginia (Tina), age 68, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Kingston Pike Baptist Church. Tina was retired from Eaton Elementary where she had worked in the cafeteria for 22 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by husband, John Franklin Jr.; infant son, little Joe Franklin; sisters, Ruth Brewer and Jo Malone. Survived by daughter, Kim Nix and husband, Marty of Lenoir City; grandson, Brandon Nix; brothers, Bud Rogers of Friendsville and Rob Rogers of Muncie, Ind.; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Jay Ann Maples and husband, Richard and special nephew, Jack Brewer and wife, Sue all of Lenoir City. Davis, Harvey Lee age 101, of the Hardin Valley Community, Knoxville, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002 at his home. Lee was of the Baptist Faith. He was a life long saw miller. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Davis; sons, Clarence, Hobert, Cecil and David Davis. He is survived by his children, Clara Wise of Kingston, Jimmy Davis of Niota, Mildred Romines of the home, Roy Davis of Georgia, Barbara Romines of Florida, Hazel Davis of Alabama, Freddy Davis of Knoxville and Wilma Sims of Knoxville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Tuggle, Elba Louise Standifer, age 81, of Lenoir City, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Monday evening, February 4, 2002, at Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Louise was a member of Bay Side Baptist Church in Chattanooga. She was retired from J. C. Penney in Chattanooga after 15 years of service. Louise was a former member of the Garden Club in Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harriett Elizabeth Grigsby and James Ross Standifer; brothers, James and Robert Standifer; sisters, Elizabeth Standifer and Norma Roberts. Survivors: sister, Doris Standifer Caldwell of Lenoir City; nephews, Don Caldwell of Nashville, Dan Caldwell and wife Sissy of Maryville, Jimmy Hazelwood of Chattanooga; niece, Polly Gann of Texas; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The body will lie in state from 12-2 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Gordon W. Grimes officiating. Scarbrough, Elizabeth Pierce (Betty), age 76, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Tuesday evening February 5, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a long illness. Betty was a graduate of old Knoxville High School. She later worked for TVA and the University of Tennessee. She was organist at Magnolia Avenue Methodist Church where her husband, Sam Scarbrough, was Choir Director. In 1956 they moved to Virginia and continued in that capacity at First United Methodist Church in Charlottesville,VA and Trinity United Methodist Church in Richmond,VA. In 1966 they moved back to Knoxville to First United Methodist Church. At that time Betty also began teaching music and social studies in the Knox County Schools and finished her career at Farragut Middle School. In 1979, Betty became organist/director at Church of the Savior United Church of Christ. She was an active member of KEA, NEA, Knoxville Choral Society and American Guild of Organists. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel B. Scarbrough; son, Jeffrey Scarbrough; parents, John V. Pierce and Della Smith Pierce. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jackie Scarbrough of Knoxville; brother, J. Eugene Pierce and his son, Douglas Kyle Pierce both of Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 10, at the Church of the Savior on Weisgarber Road in Knoxville with Rev. John Gill officiating. Betty loved animals and children. Dulaney, Elizabeth Fitzgerald, age 84, of NHC Cavett Hill in Knoxville, formerly of Kingsport and Port Chester NY, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2002 at Little Creek Nursing Home. Elizabeth was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut and a former member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Kingsport. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle in New York. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh H. Dulaney. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Sloan Dulaney Tweel and huband David Tweel of Farragut; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Dulaney and wife Sheridan Dulaney of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Allison Dulaney, John Dulaney, Katie Tweel and Alex Tweel; sister, Margaret Guildemeister of St. Petersburg, FL; several nieces and nephews. Newcomb, Robert Sr., age 82, of Loudon, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2002. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, 5 brothers, 2 daughters, and 2 sons. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Alma Letsinger Newcomb; son, Robert Newcomb Jr. and wife, Mary Lou of Loudon; step-son, Alvin Letsinger and wife Maymie of Lenoir City; brothers, William Newcomb of Knoxville and Clarence Newcomb, and Quilla Newcomb of Concord; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Johnson, Katherine Belitz, age 86 of Lenoir City, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Friday, February 8, 2002 at the Baptist Healthcare Center. A member of Grove Hill Baptist Church. She born January 9, 1916 and was the daughter of John and Bertha Belitz. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Fred D. Johnson; sisters, Viola Francis and Elsie Weaver; brothers, J. C. Belitz and Everette Belitz. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws, Doyle and Ginny Johnson of Chattanooga, Gary and Judy Johnson of Knoxville, and Dale and Barbara Johnson of Lenoir City; brother, Ted Belitz of Maryville, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Lennex, Troy Alvin, age 63 of Loudon, passed away Friday, February 8, 2002 at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital. He was a member of the Little "T" Rabbit Hunters Club and was an avid sportsman. He was a retired security guard from Viskase and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorene Simpson Lennex and a nephew, Robyn Lennex. Troy is survived by his wife, Nell P. Lennex of Loudon; daughter, Dr. Lesia Lennex; grandson, Harrison Troy Lennex Stone; son-in-law, David Stone all of Morehead, Ky; brothers, Bill Lennex, John Lennex and Hubert Lennex all of Loudon; sister, Mary Kate Roberts of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Ginger was a member of West End Church of Christ. She was a preschool teacher at West End Kindergarten and My School at Laurel Church of Christ. Ginger was preceded in death by her father, Kay Gough. Wesson, Catherine, age 99, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2002. Catherine was born October 16, 1902 and was a longtime resident of Lenoir City. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #186 in Lenoir City. Catherine was a member of the Lenoir City Garden Club and Clionian Club. She was active in all until this past year. She had been very ill for the past month. Preceded in death by husbands, Lynn Leon Winfrey and Clyde Wesson. Survived by nephew, Mitchell Joyner; nieces, Madge and Jody Larabee, Ann Winfrey, Mildred Bridge and husband, John of Chicago, Ill., Debby Wade and husband, Harry of Petersburg, Va. and several other nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her neighbor and dear friend, Vicky Packett and family. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday with funeral services to follow at 4 p.m. in the Click-Hawkins Chapel, 102 B Street, Lenoir City. Rev. Mike Gregory will officiate. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Monday in the Concord Masonic Cemetery for graveside services and interment. Click- Hawkins Chapel in Lenoir City is serving the family of Catherine Wesson.

Presley, Jerry Ann, age 57, of Lenoir City, passed away early Sunday morning, February 10, 2002, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Jerry was preceded in death by her father, Fred Tuck and brother, Roy Tuck. Survivors: husband, Clayton Presley; children, Tim Currier of Knoxville; Cecil Currier and wife Sabrina of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Timothy Currier, Crystal Currier, Ryan Currier, Jeff and Brent Veal; mother, Lucille Tuck of Dunlap; brother, Dexter Tuck of South Pittsburg; sister, Carmelita Johnson of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Seay officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.

Hyman, Marshall Leonard, age 77, of Farragut, TN, formerly of Rochester, NY and Pittsford, NY, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Monday morning February 11, 2002 at his home. Marshall was born April 12, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating H S, and studying one year at City College of New York, entered the Military and served with distinction during WW II. Honorably discharged as 1st Lt, he completed 50 combat missions as a B-24 Co-pilot/Pilot, sharing the cockpit with his life-long devoted friend, Daniel Haiken, also from Brooklyn (now of Arizona) in the 757th Squadron, 459th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 15th Air Force, USAAF, based at Giulia, Italy. Awards included Unit Citation, Air Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster and 3 Battle Stars. After the war, Marshall earned a B S in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1948, and then went to work at NACA (predecessor of NASA) in Cleveland, OH. In 1954 he began a career with Pfaudler Co of Rochester, NY; one of his earliest assignments was (then-classified) research on loan to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he met and married the former Vera McKinney, and began his family. Moving back to Rochester in late 1957 (and moving the family to Pittsford, NY in 1967), Marshall transferred to Nalge Co (Div. Of Sybron Corp., now Apogent Technology) in 1969, where he worked for 20 years, first as Vice President, then as President, and retiring as Chief Executive Officer in 1989. Served on Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) 1973-1983 (President 1975-1977). In 1996 Marshall moved to Knoxville, TN to be close to his children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, David & Ida Brownstein Hyman, brother, Lt. Col. Robert Hyman (USAF, Ret.) and mother-in-law, Florence (McKinney) Hicks. Marshall is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Roger David and Elsa L. Hyman of Powell, TN; daughters, Helen (Hyman) Bethencourt and Janet Louise Hyman, both of Farragut, TN; grandchildren, Anne Marie Bethencourt, Cristina Alicia Hyman, Laura Marie Bethencourt and James Marshall Hyman; sister-in-law, Betty Hyman of New Hampshire; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, G. V. and Nancy McKinney of Oak Ridge, TN; nephews and nieces, Michelle Janes of Maine, David and Cmdr. Mark Hyman (USNR), both of Maryland, Daniel Hyman of New Hampshire, Arne Hyman of California, Steve McKinney of Murfreesboro, TN, Kathy Thomas of Oak Ridge, TN and Scott McKinney of Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Farragut. . Wednesday at Click Funeral Home in Farragut. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with Chaplain Quentin Lockwood officiating with full military honors conferred by the East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard.
