Herron, John S., age 80, of Kingston, passed away, Monday, April 22, 2002 at his home. John was in the 3rd Marines Division serving in Guam, Iwa Jima and Chi Chi Jima. He was a member of Bradbury United Methodist Church. John was a member of Union Lodge #38 where he was a master mason. He was retired from Martin Marietta. Preceded in death by father, James Eaton Herron; mother, Beaulah Prater Herron; brothers, Glenn Herron, Matthew Herron, Joe Herron and Howard Herron; sisters, Lula Herron and Amanda Herron. Williams, John Wesley (Big John), age 83, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, April 22, 2002 . John was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. A retired electrician and farmer. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Watson Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Gale Sicard and husband, Rene of Winterville, N.C.; grandchildren, Christy Joyce and husband, Jeff of High Point, N.C. and Jody Carroll of Winston Salem; three great grandchildren, Madison, Lindsay and Emma Joyce; brother, Lucien Williams of Loudon; sisters, Helen Johnson and Mearl Macres both of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Bradford, Martha Elizabeth, age 53, of Red Bank, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly early Monday Morning April 22, 2002. Martha was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. She was a Librarian with the Chattanooga City Library. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Cecile O'Neal Bradford. Agnes was born in New Haven, CT, September 25, 1907. She was a graduate of Stone Business College, New Haven, CT and was very active with the Girl Scouts. Palmer, David E., age 59, of Spears Road, Friendsville formerly of Lenoir City, passed away, Thursday, April 25, 2002 at his home. Our family circle has now been broken because God's precious word was spoken on Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 12:05 a.m. when he called home, David E. Palmer, the most wonderful caring and gentle, son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend this world has ever known. Davis, James Thomas, age 88, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Park West Medical Center. Tom was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. He graduated from Sale Creek High School and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He retired from the Tennessee Highway Department as a soil engineer. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy Seabees. Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joe Marie Jones Davis; one brother, Dan Davis Jr. of New York City, N.Y.; four sisters: Mrs. Horace(Wilsie) Ray, Mrs. Anderson (Nell) Smith, Mrs. Gene (Ruth) Elliott, all of Soddy Daisy, TN and Mrs. Kay Ray of Stuart, Fl.; several nieces and nephews. He served in the U. S. Air Force. Dr. Misra was an internist/cardiologist practicing in Farragut and former Medical Director of Lakeshore Mental Health Institute. Locke, Nora Gray Key, age 78, of West Knoxville, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Tuesday evening, April 1,2003. Nora was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She taught at Bearden High School and also taught continuing education in later years. Nora was a active member of the Knoxville Republican Club, member of the DAR, and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she also received her MBA. Nora was an awesome mother, was devoted to her Bible studies and enjoyed the outdoors. Schroeder, Edward F. of Pompano Beach, FL and Young Harris, GA, departed this life April 4, 2003 at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Raised in Sheboygan, WI, he attended U. S. Grant School and graduated from Central High in 1939. He became a WWII P-47 fighter pilot in the 9th Air Force in Europe. He flew 98 official missions and was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Purple Heart, 18 Air Medals and numerous other medals. He was an instrument flight instructor in Texas and retired as a Major in the air Force Reserves in 1981. His career in real estate spanned four decades in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. He was involved in sales at Terra Mar Island, Imperial Point, The Landings, Bay Colony, Inverrary and Boca West. Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Patricia Finke Schroeder, of Pompano Beach; daughter Kathy (Ashton) Pearson of Knoxville, TN; son Walter "Russ" Schroeder, M.D. (Karen) of Henderson, NV; brother Albert (Virginia) Schroeder; niece Peggy (Alfred) Roettger, all of Ft. Lauderdale; and nephew Albert J. (Ruth) Schroeder, Orlando. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Chip and Matt Pearson, Oxford, MS; and Erin, Erika, Emily and Elysa Schroeder, Henderson, NV; and great-nieces Lisa, Michelle, Meryl and Gwen. A Service of Remembrance will be scheduled for friends and family at a later date to celebrate his remarkable life and legacy. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
Woods, Bonnie L., of Lenoir City, a proud mother, friend, and a devoted Christian, passed away Monday, April 7th, 2003. She was born Bonnie L. Mendenhall in Naylor, Missouri on December 20, 1938. Bonnie was a proud mother, whom had great care for all of her children and grandchildren. Her devotion to her children has left a forever lasting impression on her family and friends. To her grandchildren she was known as "Nonna". Bonnie was a member of Two Rivers Church in Farragut, TN She treated and perceived life as a " Gift from God". Her knowledge of Scripture has been shared from generation to generation. She was an employee of The Fresh Market in Farragut serving as Assistant Front End Manager. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melburn Garrett and Afton Mendenhall and her brother, Dan Mendenhall. Bonnie is survived by her three daughters: Brandi Boncore (Woods), Rebecca Mackey (Johnson),and Teresa Teague (Johnson) all of Lenoir City; five grandchildren: Rachael and Sarah Mackey, Phoenix, Dakota and Zachary Howard; one brother, Buddy Mendenhall of Maryville; two sisters, Linda Boone and Janet Cook both of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday followed by funeral services at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City Chapel. Rev. Brad Brinson will officiate. Hilemon, Donnie Jack, age 37, formerly of Anderson County, passed away at his home in Nashville, April 5th. He attended Clinton Senior High School, where he was captain of the 1984 football team and awarded the most valuable player. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN Preceded in death by his father, Jack Hilemon, and niece, Amanda Faulkner. Survivors include his twin sister, Connie Hilemon Curtis, brother in law, Mike Curtis, niece, Krista Curtis all of Lenoir City; sister, Kristina Burgos and niece, Cierra Burgos of St. Petersburg, Fl. Mamie was retired from Scovill in Lenoir City. A member of Lenoir City Eastern Star Chapter # 188 and Highland Park Ruritan Club. Navy during the Korean War and a member of American Legion Lenoir City Post. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Petty.
