Raper, Jess Willard, age 82, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday August 23, 2004, at the Parkwest Hospital. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and Ivan Tinnell’s Sunday School Class. He was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge No. 593 F&AM. Jess was retired from ORNL and was a member of #760 Electrical Union. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served in WWII. Preceded in death by son, Larry Lee Raper; parents, Cora Kilpatrick and Lon Raper; sisters, Edna Raper Hamby, Vivian Raper Allen and Marcella Raper Williamson. Sheehan, Phyllis B., age 83, of Farragut, formerly of Plymouth, MA, passed away Wednesday evening, August, 25, 2004 at Park West Hospital. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Johnston, Mary Elizabeth Vann of Roane County, was born on May 14, 1908 and died on September 1, 2004. The daughter of John Wylie and Bertie Smith Vann and sister of George and Jack Vann, she married James Clarence Johnston on December 20, 1924 and was a faithful and beloved member of Cave Creek Primitive Baptist Church for more than 75 years. Preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brothers, grandaughters, Kimberly and Karen Pomfret and grandson Robert Pomfret. She leaves behind a loving church, family and friends who are blessed by the example she set. II serving in the U. S. Army in the Panama Canal Zone. He retired from Oak Ridge Associated University, Medical Division, with 30 years service. She was preceded in death by parents, Wesley Lewis and Bertha Mae (O'Neal) Cross; brothers, Paul and Rayburn Cross; husbands, Col. William Hubert Cox and Howard Gilbert Ferguson. Cranfill, Vivian Esther Jacobson, age 67, of the Tellico Village Community, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2005, at her home. Vivian was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who often dedicated herself to serving others. Vivian was born in Chicago, Ill in 1937 and was a graduate of Hirsch High School, Class of 1955. She was Den Mother for two lucky groups of Cub Scouts, was Parent Teacher Association President, Church leader and volunteer, and Construction Coordinator for handicapped access to her church in Northbrook, Illinois. In recent years, Vivian especially enjoyed her association with the Red Hat Society and her position as secretary and Co-Program Chair-person in the Tellico Village Chapter of the American Wine Society. She was an avid gardener and loved canning and freezing fruits and vegetables. She was active in TVCC craft activities, garage sales, library support, the genealogy club and loved all God’s creatures. As an active member of the Tellico Village Cancer Support group, she provided support via e-mail and telephone calls to friends in other states with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhold and Inez Jacobson. She is survived by her husband, Sidney M. Calhoun, Sara Nell Goodson, age 75, of Knoxville, and formally of Decatur and Notasulga, Alabama, passed away Monday morning, August 15, 2005 at Shannondale Health Care Center. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of the United Methodist Church, a homemaker and an accomplished quilter and seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo K. Calhoun, and her daughter, Janice Calhoun Dobyns. She is survived by a son and daughter in-law, Alan L and Tammy Calhoun, Knoxville; granddaughters, Abby S. Sweeney, R. W. (Dub), age 85, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2005. He was a retired surveyor and was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. Dub served in the U. S. Army Air Corp. in World War II. He was a former member of the Poultry Club.
