Rubish, Vennie L., age 93, of Tellico Village went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 3, 2007. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Lenoir City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Annie Williamson; sisters, Deloris Soditch and Louise Smotherman; son, Robert Carl Howell. Survived by her husband, Kenneth Rubish; children, Terry Eugene Howell and spouse, Linda and Mary Ann Clayton and spouse, Vincent all of Tellico Village; grandchildren, Cecilia Keeler, Glen Clayton, Brian Clayton, Cynthia Riggs, Terry E. Eva W. Pellom, age 80, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007. Eva was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Yale Security. Eva was preceded in death by parents, Jess and Mittie White; sister, Willie Wheat; brothers, Otto White and Tellas White. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harvey Pellom; children, Connie Ball and husband, Mike of Calhoun, Robin Green and husband, Mack of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Harvey Green and wife, Anita, Buffy Williams and husband, Jonathon, April Davis and husband, Chad; great grandchildren, Noah, Josh, Alex, Kailee and Carly; sister-in-law, Irene White of Lenoir City; many nieces and nephews. Robert L. (Bob) Patterson, of Loudon, TN, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away August 5, 2007 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. born in Brooklyn, NY, he graduated from Spring Branch High School, Houston, TX, in 1976. He played basketball at Ole Miss and transferred to Delta State University in 1979 where he met Trisha whom he later married. Bob attended Piedmont Baptist College and later graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in mathematics. His professional career started at Texaco, Inc., in 1981 and in 1987, Bob began his consulting profession in St. Louis, MO. Bob and Trisha started a computer consulting firm, Digital Consulting & Software Services, Inc. (DCSS), in 1990 in Houston, TX. Bob was instrumental in establishing DCSS Ability, a computer firm focused on training and employing people with disabilities. In 2002, Bob and Trisha were named Entrepreneurs of the Year for computer consulting by Ernest & Young. Bob served as a member of the Board of Directors since DCSS’s inception, and as COO of LabAnswer. Elected to the Board of Directors of Bill Glass Champions for Life in 2001, a 35-year-old prison ministry sharing Christ with the inmate population, in 2007 he was elected Chairman of the Board. In 2005, Bob was elected to the Board of Trustees at Piedmont Baptist College and Graduate School, Winston Salem, NC. Led by a close personal friend, Bob accepted Christ as personal Savior in 1978. He was preceded in death by his father, William W. Patterson. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Trisha; mother, Nadine Patterson, brother Bill Patterson and wife Linda, sister Kathy Chase and husband Michael; six nieces: Lauren, Amanda, and Sara Patterson, Meagan Chase, and Melissa and Amanda Molgaard; two nephews: Michael Chase and Stephen Millsaps; and one great-nephew, Phoenix Chase; spiritual nephews Joshua Hawkins, Matthew Wilson, Jeremy Burgin, and Matthew Piers, and spiritual niece Kym Warda. Funeral services will be held at Sevier Heights Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN, Thursday, August 9, at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service. Torrey, William Edward, of Loudon, TN, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born March 27, 1930 in Janesville, Wisconsin. Mr. Torrey was a 1948 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. He was the High School Conference Pentathlon Champion three Consecutive years, 1946, 1947 and 1948. He was the Wisconsin State High School record holder, 12 pound shot put 43 feet in 1948, High School Conference Football Champs 1948 and State of Wisconsin Basketball Championship 1947. Mr. Torrey attended Beloit College in 1948 on an athletic football scholarship. He played professional basketball in North and South America 1949, 1950 and 1951 for The House of David. He entered active military service in the United State Army in 1951 and was deployed to Korea to engage the Communist Chinese which had crossed from China over the Yalu River into Korea. Mr. Torrey served two tours in Korea, and was honorably discharged in March of 1957. He married his high school sweetheart and fellow Beloiter, Eleanor A. Callaly on April 23, 1953. In 1955, Mr. Torrey pioneered the absolutely revolutionary concept of applying drywall wallboard construction systems in new residential homes during the building boom that transpired in the 1950's. Overnight wallboard replaced the antiquated plaster/lathe construction methods and Torrey imported the new technology to Wisconsin from Kansas City opening a successful construction business in Wisconsin and Illinois for 27 years before retiring in 1982. Mr. Torrey remained a life long fan of The Chicago Cubs, The Green Bay Packers and Bret Favre! He also enjoyed viewing SEC football and The Tennessee Volunteers from the stands of Neyland Stadium every Saturday afternoon in the Autumn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Edward Torrey and Stella Josephine Horne. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor A. Torrey of Tellico Village, TN; sons, William E. Torrey, Jr. And wife, Gina Parks Torrey of Tellico Village, TN and Michael E. Torrey of Boulder, CO; daughter, Teresa A. Engebretson and husband, Larry of Cleveland, TN; granddaughter, Krista Michele Torrey, a Senior pharmacy major at U T Knoxville; grandsons, Cade Engebretson and Logan Engbretson of Cleveland, TN. Cynthia Portman, age 67, of Knoxville, formerly of Maumee, Ohio went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, August 11, 2007. Cynthia was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Senior Kids Group. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Cynthia is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard Portman; children and spouses, Geoff and Laurel Portman of Danville, CA, Pam and Eric Schorsch of Knoxville, Craig and Michelle Portman of Knoxville; grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Alex, Hailey, Caroline, Regan and Ryan; sisters, Laurie Linn of Sylvania, OH, Margie Hancock of Toledo, OH; brothers, Patrick Sanford of Akron, OH, Michael Sanford of Oregon, OH and Stephen Sanford of Temperance, MI; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Nick Charles Fields, age 56, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday August 11, 2007 at his home. Nick was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis E. Hilda Jenkins, age 74, of Lenoir City, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2007, at Loudon Health Care. Hilda was born December 29, 1932 in Wiesbaden, Germany. She married an American soldier, Gene Jenkins, and moved to the United States in 1953. Hilda worked at Yale in Lenoir City for 41 years before she retired in 1995. She has been a beloved member of the Aaron family of Lenoir City and Loudon for over 30 years. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Hilda is survived by her 2 sisters, Mathilda Lamb of California, Elizabeth Bauer and her husband of Germany; along with several nieces and nephews. Jim Foust Sr., 63 of New Tazewell, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007. Jim served in the U. S. Army and Navy in the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by parents, Carl Foust and Sarah Foust; brothers, Roy Foust, twin brother, Jerry Foust and Bill Foust. He is survived by his daughters, Ann Hannah and Tracy Payne both of Maryville, Bonnie Guilliams of Knoxville; sons, Tony Turner of Seymour and Jim Foust Jr. of New Tazewell; several grandchildren; brother, Carl Foust Jr; sister, Jo Ann Lawson both of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Larry E. Dawn, age 53, of Chattanooga, formerly of Lenoir City and Oak Ridge, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, August 15, 2007. Larry was baptized at First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Dawn, Sr. and his brother, Clarence Dawn, Jr. Larry is survived by his mother, Lorraine Hammes of Chattanooga; brothers, Chuck Dawn of Oak Ridge, Mark Dawn and wife, Diane of Knoxville; sisters, Rose Greenway and husband, Gary of Chattanooga, Patty Eshinbaugh of Pittsburgh, PA; along with many other family members and friends. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services with full military honors being conferred by the Loudon County Veteran's Honor Guard. Stuart B. Thorn, age 84, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, formerly of Carolina Shores, NC passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007. He was born in Carbondale, PA. Stuart served as an Army Medic during World War II. He worked as a financial analyst for Sun Oil Company for 34 years and then began a nursing career which lasted for 15 years. He was a member and Stephen Minister at Tellico Village Community Church. He was a longtime CPR instructor for the Red Cross and was active with the Good Samaritan Center in Lenoir City. Stuart was past president of the Brunswick Animal League, past commissioner for Calabash, NC and a former member of the Lions Club. His many sports interest included track, bowling, skiing and dancing. He was preceded in death by his infant son and his parents. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen LeVan Thorn and his aunt, Beatrice Burdick of Johnson City, NY. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Tim Meadows officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. CONRADO CASTRO BALDONADO, Beloved husband, father and brother, Conrado Castro Baldonado, age 75, died peacefully at home in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Monday, August 13, 2007 after battling cancer for over ten months. Conrado was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrocio S. Baldonado and Venancia B. Castro. Conrado is survived by his wife, Clarita Hapon; his children, Clarence and Oliver; his brothers and sisters: Victoria, Benjamin, Jose, Filomena, and Orlino; his in-laws: Eugenia, Rene, and Estrella; Clarita’s siblings in the Philippines; his father in-law, Apolonio Hapon; Estrella’s sister, Mercedes; his nephews and nieces and their spouses: Avelino and Bubbles, Bonifacio, Celestino and Fredolina, Dominador and Alice, Editha and Joe, Vena and Mike, Farida and Eric, Ambrocio, Jose, Jr. and Joann, Omar and Michelle, and Erika; several grand-nephews and grand-nieces; and many other relatives. born on January 25, 1932 in Langaoan, Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, Conrado grew up on a farm in the Philippines. He attended Mindanao Institute of Technology, where he studied Agriculture. In 1985, Conrado immigrated to the U.S., first working in Alaska and then later in Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas, he was introduced to his future wife, Clarita, by mutual friends. In 1990, the family joined his sister Victoria and brother Orlino and his family in Knoxville. Conrado worked with the family business, EC Corporation, for many years. Conrado was intelligent, handsome, amiable, and often, soft-spoken; he was always ready with a smile and a story about his homeland. He enjoyed gathering together after barbecue grilling in the backyard. He spent many hours tending to his organic vegetable garden, and he was also an avid reader of history and philosophy. Conrado was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and the Philippine-American Association of East Tennessee. Despite being in good health for the majority of his life, Conrado was diagnosed with cancer in October 2006. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, relatives and friends who gave their constant care and support. Conrado will be missed by many family members and friends. James Mitchell (Mitch) Dodson, age 21 of Madisonville passed away suddenly Thursday evening, August 16, 2007. Mitch was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Dodson; great grandparents, Bill and Lela West, J. L. and Grace Moody, Betty Dodson and Fred and Frances Chandler. Survivors: mother, Kim West and partner, Debbie Headrick of Knoxville; father and step mother, Rich and Mary Dodson and their daughter, Claire Dodson of Madisonville; grandparents, Sandra Dodson of Knoxville, Bert and Marian West of Powell; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Our son was full of life and full of love and passion. He touched lots of people's hearts through his music. He will be greatly missed. Marie Viers Harris, age 54, went to be with the Lord August 18, 2007. Marie gently took Jesus by the hand and he lead her home. She suffered unbearable pain every day from injuries received in an auto accident 17 years ago. Marie always thought of others before herself. She appreciated this world, but now she enjoys all the beauty where her body and all things are new. Marie was preceded in death by her father, Dennis C. Viers. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 36 years, Roy Denton Harris Jr.; son, Bradley Dean Harris; daughter, Catherine Lynn Harris and her finace' Sho Edwards; granddaughter, Breanna Marie Monroe, all of Knoxville, TN; mother, Mary N. Viers of Radford, VA; sisters, Pamela Sue Viers of Blacksburg, VA, Bonnie V. Singleton of Cornelius, NC; brother, Robert C. James H. (Papoo) Pinkston Jr., age 60, of Knoxville. God came and took his hand early Tuesday morning, August 21, 2007 at his home. Jim was born May 6, 1947 in Knoxville to James and Dora Lee Baldwin Pinkston who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jesse; sister, Margaret Ann and brother, Jarrell. Jim lived an extraordinarily full life. He delighted in being the husband to Kathy for 32 years; father to Jake and his wife Allison, Josh and his wife Emily and Jesse. He was known as Papoo to his five grandchildren, Jesse Lee, Samuel Ellis, Meghan Faith, Cody Brooks, and Jack Herman. He was brother to Sandra Palmer of New Market and husband Jimmy; son-in-law, to Minta Orange (Meemaw). Jim was very proud to work and hunt with his sons. Jim and Kathy enjoyed the simple life on the Pinkston Long Ears Mule Farm. Duff, Dora Walker, age 73, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Hillcrest West Nursing Home after a long battle with cancer. She was a long time faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Dora was retired from Lockheed Martin where she worked as a secretary. Preceded in death by husband, T. E. “Duffy” Duff; parents, John Wiley and Nannie Eblen Walker; sister, Ruby Walker; brothers, Smith Walker and Fred Walker. Survived by sisters, Lucille Fletcher of Lexington, NC, Frances Higgins, Alma Jackson and husband, Knox all of North Wilkesboro, NC, Mary Ann Cain and husband, Charles of Newton, NC; brother, Elmer Walker of North Wilkesboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Bunny Walker of Lenoir City; Barbara Walker of Knoxville and Alice Mayes and husband, Sidney of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews; many special friends. Webster, Thomas E. (Tommy), age 58, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, August 24, 2007 at his home. Tommy was a loving husband, father and papaw. He was a Christian who loved the Lord and was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Tommy was retired from Martin Marietta. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack Webster and Marie Seals Webster. Eugene F. Tragesser, age 83, of Knoxville, formerly of Memphis, passed away Saturday evening, August 25, 2007. Gene was retired from the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clovis P. Tragesser. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kathleen Tragesser, Mike and Peggy Tragesser all of Knoxville; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Turner officiating. Family and friends will gather at 3 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to a charity of choice. Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel, 11915 Kingston Pike is serving the Tragesser family.
