Koprince, William Craig, Jr. (Lance Corp. United States Marines), age 24, of Lenoir City, passed away December 27, 2006 at 2:45 a.m. est while serving with the Third Battalion, Second Marine Division, India Company First Platoon in Iraq. Billy was a 2001 graduate of Lenoir City High School and a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene in Oak Ridge. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Morgan Wickman, Dr. Robert Koprince and Evelyn Koprince. He is survived by his parents, William and Bernice Koprince of Lenoir City; sister, Morgan Koprince Moore and husband, Andrew of Kingston; grandmothers, Olive Wickman of Lenoir City and Anne Koprince of West Bloomfield, MI; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Robert Kennedy (Bob) Cook, age 83, of Farragut passed away Saturday morning, December 30, 2006 at his home. Bob was a member of Lake View Baptist Church. He was retired from the City of Oak Ridge as a heavy equipment operator. William Lee (Bill) Taylor, husband, father, brother, decorated Naval Aviator, Airline Captain, and friend died suddenly and unexpectedly Thursday, December 28, 2006 in Tellico Village, Tennessee. After growing up in Peekskill, NY, Bill graduated from Georgia Tech University. Immediately after his college graduation he entered the U.S. Navy where he was Commissioned and earned his Wings of Gold as a Naval Aviator - and began a distinguished career serving his country as a Fighter Pilot. During the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, then Lieutenant (jg) Taylor was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery and exploits while flying Low Level Photo Reconnaissance Missions over the island of Cuba, and President John F. Kennedy personally decorated his squadron with the Navy Unit Commendation for their bravery and selfless service to their country. After leaving the Navy he embarked on a 34-year career as a pilot with United Airlines where he earned the four stripes of an Airline Captain. His career culminated as the Captain of the Boeing 747, flying to destinations around the world. Retiring in 1997 first to Pensacola, Florida and then to Tellico Village, Tennessee he and his wife Terry enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and a close knit group of friends, while being active in their community and in their church. Bill played in the Church Orchestra and the Handbell Choir of the First Baptist Church of Tellico Village, and he served as a church trustee. Bill is survived by his cherished wife of 46 years Terolyn (Terry) Wilkins Taylor of the home, a daughter Hillary Taylor Sheffer and her husband Brent of Columbus, Ohio, two sons, Christopher Bruce Taylor and his wife Christi of New Port Ritchie, Florida, Benjamin Terrell Taylor and his wife Michelle of Ashland, Ohio, one sister Mrs. JoAnn Taylor Brace and her husband, Robert of Syracuse, Utah, four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Donald Jacobs, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Tellico Village on December 31, 2006 after a 17-month battle with lung cancer. born in Rushmore, MN, he served four years in the Air Force, and worked for Delta Air Lines for 27 years in Chicago and West Palm Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mildred Jacobs. Survivors are his wife, Carole, of 22 years, and siblings, Phyllis (Gary) Wagley of Rushmore, MN, Joyce (Mark) Cavaness of Windom, MN and Steven (Debra) Jacobs of Sauk Rapids, MN, along with many nieces and nephews. Thelma O. Marsee, age 90, of Knoxville, formerly of Arthur, TN, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Thelma was a member of Arthur United Methodist Church. She was the last of 10 children born to Solomon Harold Barker and Mary Leona Davis Barker. Thelma had become the matriarch of her family and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, William Brownlow Marsee. Survivors: daughter and son–in-law, Donna and Jim Snodgrass of Knoxville; grandsons, Brent Snodgrass of Knoxville, Col. Richard F. Moxim, age 66, of Vonore, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Richard was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed life on the lake. Richard retired in 2003 from Alstom, Inc. where he was employed for over 35 years, most recently as Alliance Manager representing the Alstom /TVA alliance. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nell Moxim; son-in-law, Carl Johnson and sister-in-law, Vicki Peterson. Phillips, Stone River Augustas, age 12, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007. 'Some Call It Heaven, I Just Call It Home', was Stone’s favorite gospel song. He began his journey to his Heavenly Home when he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior this year at Hensley’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Stone was only 12 years of age but he made a lasting impression on everyone he met with his bigger than life personality. He had a sense of humor and insight into others that went beyond his years. Stone was an organ donor and that is something that he would be proud of.
