Ida was retired from Yale Security. Preceded in death by husband, Marvin G. Helton; parents, Arthur and Jane Estes; brothers, Felix Estes, Eli Estes and Willard Estes; sister, Mary Moore. Survived by brother, J. B. Estes of Alabama; sister, Willie Mae Bandy of Loudon; special friend and caretaker, Loretta Turbeville and husband, Richard and their children, Joshua & Jacob of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Shaw, Barbara Ann, age 60, of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday morning, May 23, 2001 at the Loudon Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and handbells. Retired from Loudon Co. Government Agency as a social worker. Barbara was a member of Pilot Club of Lenoir City. Preceded in death by parents, Greer and Vida Garrett Shaw; a twin sister who died at birth. Survived by uncle, Earl Garrett of Knoxville; several cousins; special friends, Shelby, Joyce and Jo Anne. Patchen, Roberta Louise, age 77, of Knoxville TN, formerly of Little River, KS and Hutchinson, KS, passed away Wednesday evening, May 23, 2001, at the Baptist Health Care Center. Roberta was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Little River, KS. She was retired from the Bank of Kansas in Hutchinson, KS and had worked at Home State Bank in Little River, KS for many years. Roberta was active in the restoration of the Little River City Park. She started the Ye Old Park Shoppe the proceeds of which went to fund many park improvement projects. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Patchen; parents, Thomas and Ethel Greeson Workman; brother, Willis Workman; sisters, Virginia Workman Mohn and Marie Yeager. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Karen Goodrick of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Kyle and Katie Goodrick of Knoxville, TN; several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. Leon was a retired employee of Lenoir City Utilities Board. He was a member of Avery Lodge #593 F&AM, the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies and Kerbela Shrine Temple. Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Granny) Fritts. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Grace Hicks of Seymour, Tn., and sons Larry Bruce Hicks of New York City and Daniel Adam Hicks III of Lenoir City. Manning, Ray, Age 62 of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, May 25, 2001 at the Parkwest Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Scovill; a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Baptist faith. Ray loved fishing, playing the guitar and singing and he enjoyed life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Belle Manning; sister, Jearldean Huffstetler. Logan, Joe Vernon "Tubby", age 84, of Lenoir City died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, May 29, 2001. He was a life-long member of the Lenoir City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a 50 year member of Avery Lodge #593 F & AM. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in Africa and in Europe. He was a successful local business man, owner and operator of the Broadway Service Station until his retirement in 1972. He was preceded in death by his wife, Abbie Hull Logan, in 1987. Donoher, Paul age 72, a resident of Tellico Village, died suddenly in Stuart, Florida, on April 5, 2000. He was formerly a teacher and administrator at Detroit Country Day School in Birmingham, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, 2 brothers, 1 sister and 3 children. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Tellico Village Community Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12. Owens, Thomas Hunter, age 68, of the Dogwood Community Kingston, formerly of South Knoxville, passed away Thursday evening May 4, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Tommy was a member of Oral Baptist Church but had recently attended Hilltop Baptist Church. He was a retired Heating and Air Contractor in Knox County. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army and was a purple heart recipient. Tommy was a Lt. with the the East Roane County Volunteer Fire Department. Irene was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a advertising solicitor for the Cleveland Press and an officer for the Newspaper Guild for many years. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Coleman, Son, James J. Coleman. Parents, John and Lela Shaeffer McKinnon.. Richard was retired from Pipe Fitters Local #597 in Chicago Illinois. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army. Richard was a member of Loudon American Legion Post #120. Keener, James Anthony (Jimmy) age 34 of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday May 10, 2000 in Concord North Carolina. Jimmy was a member of Iron Workers Local #384 in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl Keener, Lora and Joe Britton. Uncle, Jimmy Keener. Survivors: Daughter, Samantha Keener of Lenoir City. Mother of his children, Michelle Keener of Lenoir City. Parents, Carl Keener and wife Cathleen of Loudon, Pat Sydes of Knoxville. Twin brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Emily Keener of MacComb Michigan. Nieces, Patricia, Amanda and Courtney. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 P.M. Friday followed by funeral services at 8 P.M. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Elmer Summey officiating Family and friends will gather at 11 A.M. Kilby, Jackie Ray Sr. age 56 of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday evening May 10, 2000 at U. T. Hospital. Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Jackson (Jack) Kilby, mother, Irene White Kilby Runion, brother, Kenneth Paul Kilby. Survivors: Children, Tanya Marie Roblero of Madisonville, Gracie Mae Kilby, Rickey Kilby, Jackie Ray Kilby Jr. all of Knoxville. 7 Grandchildren. Brothers, Jay Will Kilby, Bobby Joe Kilby and Frank Burwell Kilby all of Lenoir City. Sister, Shirley Sue Roach of Lenoir City. Special cousin, Kathleen Vaughn of Lenoir City. Special Nephews, Walter, Jerry and John. Family and friends will gather at 4 P.M. Saturday at Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services Rev. Gary Bingham officiating. Pittman, Hattie V. Wright, age 102 of Knoxville passed away Friday, May 12, 2000 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center. She was born August 12, 1897 in Monroe Co. She was a member of Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She loved her children and her flowers. A former employee of Knoxville Knitting Mill. Preceded in death by husbands, Erskin Wright and E. J. (Jack) Pittman; children, Senora Thomas, Mary Della Pittman and James H. Pittman; several brothers and sisters. Survived by her children and spouses, Eulys & Norma Wright of Seymour, Kenneth & Annie Pittman of Morristown, Ambers & Edis Pittman of Clover, S.C., William E. & Vie Pittman of Carrollton, Oh., Stacy Warden of Bluefield, W. Va., Edith Miller of Orange, Tx., Marjorie Minyard of Hixon, Roxie Rhea of Big Gap, N.C., Betty June & Marvin Adcox of Temple, Tx.; daughter-in-law, Sherry Pittman of Lenoir City; 33 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; close friend, Ruby Smith of Knoxville. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Rev. Don Hubbard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Marietta Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City.

Buffington, Herbert Milton, age 78, of Plant City, Florida formerly of Lenoir City passed away Thursday, May 11, 2000 in Florida. He served in the Army Air Corp. He was retired from O. R. N. L. A member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Plant City. Survived by his wife, Kay Moody Buffington; sons/stepsons, Herbert Milton Buffington Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. Charlie Johnson of Knoxville; daughters/stepdaughters, Cherry Huskey of Hudson, Fl., Donna Garbin of Robertsdale, Al., Kathy Johnson Danyo of Plant City, Fl. and Patricia Johnson Phillips of Windermer, Fl.; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchildren; 5 brothers; 3 sisters. A memorial graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Monday in Highland Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jack Belcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City in charge of local arrangements.

Kizer, Clarice Roach, age 64, of Lenoir City passed away Saturday afternoon May 13, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Clarice was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from Yale and Towne with 18 years of service. Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, Don H. Kizer. Parents, Rev. Clarence H. Roach and Nuel Barron Roach. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Larry Goosie of Knoxville. Son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Angie Kizer of Lenoir City. Grandchildren, Matthew and Blair Goosie, Chelsea Renee and Benjamin Douglas Kizer. Family and friends will gather at Click Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday and proceed to Lake View Cemetery for graveside services at 11 A.M. with Rev. Ronnie White officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.

Pendergrass, Marion Duncan, age 68, of the Tellico Village Community Loudon Tennessee, formerly of Trumbull Connecticut, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2000 at Ft. Sanders Hospital in Knoxville Tn. Marion was of the Baptist faith. He ended his career at Monet Jewelry Co., in New York City, as Executive Vice President. Marion was retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Major, and had seven year’s active service as a pilot. He was very interested in sports, was an avid reader and adored his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Richardson Pendergrass. Children and spouses, Teresa Lynn Sutton and husband David, of Kennesaw, Georgia, David Scott Pendergrass and wife, Suzanne of Norcross, Georgia. Grandchildren, Michael Paul Sutton, Matthew Brian Sutton, Robert James Pendergrass and Rachel Austin Pendergrass. Brother and sister-in-law, Charles C. Pendergrass Jr. and Jean of Gastonia, North Carolina. Sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Vlachos and John of Alexandria, Virginia. Nieces, Vicki, Sharon, Carol and Marie. Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Calvin Pendergrass Sr. and Lois Duncan Pendergrass and one nephew, Paul Vlachos. A celebration of Marion’s life will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Stephen Nash officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the vestibule of the church. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Terrier Club, Wofford College, Spartanburg S.C. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Ogrodowski, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Allsop and the staff at Dialysis West Clinic, for their compassion and care.
