Webb, Mayme Belle Hicks, age 100, of Lenoir City and Nashville, passed away Monday, February 7, 2005 in Nashville. Mayme was born January 22, 1905 in Mooresburg, Hawkins, Co., TN. She had been a resident of Lenoir City since 1925 and was the longest term member of Hensley’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Lilly Orrick Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Webb; grandson, David Jackson Williams; great grandson, Jonathan Isaac Boese; sisters, Annie H. Carpenter and Ethel H. McAnally; brother, Fred Hicks; and step-children, Eula Mae Webb (Lake) Fine, Cecil (Louise) Webb, and James (Elizabeth) Webb. Survived by daughter, Mary Lou Webb (John) Williams; granddaughter, Luanne Williams (Jonathan) Boese; great grandson, Barrett David Boese; granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer W. Osborne, Pearl Elizabeth, age 67, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005 after a 45 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel McMahan; two brothers, George and Stanley McMahan; sisters, Elsie Hinshaw, Bertha Cloud and Nina Ruth McMahan. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Massengill and husband, Jim of Knoxville, Melissa Tiemeyer of Maryville; sons, Bobby H. Dodson, Lydia Anne Meredith, age 40, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Tabb, VA, went to be with her Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Lydia was a member of Farragut Presbyterian Church as well as a neighborhood bible study. She was a registered nurse and monitored clinical trials. Lydia loved family time with her children and loved to read the bible. She was a wonderful mother, a loving wife and friend, and an inspiration to everyone she met. Survivors: husband of 14 years, Derek Dodson; sons, Harris and Spencer; daughter, Lily; parents, C. J. (Curt) and Ann Meredith of Tabb, VA; sister, Cynthia Routt and husband Louis of Tabb, VA and their children, Meredith and Hunter; brother, Curtis J. Allen, Ruth Palmer, age 90, of Lenoir City, went home to be with the Lord, February 12, 2005 at the Parkwest Medical Center. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class and had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for over 50 years. A member of Grace Darling # 11 of Daughters of America for 75 years, American Legion Auxiliary and was a very active member of the community. She and her family managed the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for many years. She retired from J&J Chemical Co. where she was office manager. During her illness she has made her home with her beloved daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Allen; brother, Ralph B. Palmer; sister, Annie Mae (Polly) Jacobs. She leaves behind a son, Lynn P. Allen and wife, Sandy of Sweetwater; daughter, Anna Allen Allison and her husband, James of Lenoir City; two grandchildren, Tim Allison and wife, Laura of Wilson NC, Misty Allison of Lenoir City; two great grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Allison of Wilson, NC along with several nieces and nephews. Adkins, Wayne, age 58, of Knoxville, formerly of Cleveland and Johnson City, passed away Sunday February 13, 2005 after a short illness. For many years, Wayne was a investigator with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and a police officer in Johnson City and Cleveland. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Etowah and a member of the FOP in Athens. Wayne was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen Adkins. Foutch, James L., 61, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005. born on July 1, 1943, he was the son of James M. and the late Delia Foutch. His father, of Cookeville, Tennessee, survives him. Foutch served in the U.S. Army as an Information Specialist from 1963 to 1966, and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1969. He was a 1970 graduate of the University of Tennessee Law School. He joined the U.S. Department of Energy in 1973 as primary counsel to all Oak Ridge Operations programs and support organizations. He would later serve as the Assistant Manager for Defense Programs for the Fernald, Ohio Site Office and the Y-12 Site Office. Before retiring in 1995, Foutch would also serve as Deputy Chief Counsel for Litigation and Programs and Acting Chief Counsel. Upon retirement from DOE after years of exemplary service, Foutch joined Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) where he served as Vice President and General Counsel and Deputy Director of the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. He is survived by his loving wife, Doreen; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Jason Wolfe of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Matthews Smith of Knoxville; daughter Heidi Foutch, Knoxville; father and step-mother, James and Edna Foutch, Cookeville; step children, Greg and Amy Merritt, Kentucky; Laura and Arthur Wiseman, Michigan; and father-in-law James Daniel, Knoxville. His grandchildren are Benjamin, Abby and Eliza Wiseman of Michigan; and Sam Merritt of Kentucky. A memorial service will be held in Oak Ridge on Friday, Feb. 18th at Pollard Technology Conference Center on the ORAU Main Campus. Tavenner, John Randolph (Randy), age 65, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Roanoke, VA, went to be with his heavenly father Wednesday evening, February 16, 2005. Randy was a veteran of the U S Army. He was retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad. After his retirement he was a employee of Frontier Motors. Randy was an avid golfer and sports fan. Beloved father of Leigh, Caroline, Katherine and Jennifer; other survivors include 7 grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Moles of Salem, VA and Mary Nichols of Roanoke, VA; several nieces and nephews. Tichenor, Forrest C., age 93, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Farragut Healthcare Center. Forrest was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was retired from Greyhound Bus Line. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie Tichenor and son-in-law Ed Szabo. Badlani, Suresh C., age 61, of Farragut passed away Friday morning, February 18, 2005 in Houston, TX. Suresh was a Cost & Estimating Engineer with Safety and Ecology Corp. in Oak Ridge. He was an active member of the Hindu Community Center. Suresh came to the United States in the early 1970's to fulfill his dreams and to create opportunities for himself and his family. He was an avid landscaper, singer, world traveler, amateur chef and novice travelogue writer. He was a patron of the arts, in particular the performing arts, including theater and music. Suresh was a caring husband and father; his family is very grateful for his love, guidance, support and dedication. He was loved and well respected by his family, friends, colleagues and community. Suresh is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shirin Badlani; daughter, Monica Badlani of Chicago, IL; son, Amman Badlani of Atlanta, GA; brother, Thakur Badlani; sisters, Indu Mirani and Chanda Damani all of India, Laju Jadhwani of Singapore, Gopi Tirthani of Spain and several nieces and nephews. Matthias, Cindy Jo Dougherty- age 40, of Knoxville, TN, passed away February 19, 2005 as a result of a traffic accident. She was the devoted mother to son Kyle, loving daughter to Kookie & Herb Dougherty and caring sister to Kathi & Mat Dougherty. She was born June 5, 1964 in Bradford, PA and raised in Limestone, NY where she graduated from Limestone High School. She considered her home Knoxville and she and Kyle thrived here. She devoted her life to her son and was very involved in his schools and was honored as a Lifetime member of the Sterchi Elementary PTA. Cindy worked hard to provide for Kyle as a self-employed house cleaner.
Cindy is survived by her son, parents from Limestone, NY, sister Kathleen Dougherty and her husband Clyde Lemarr III of Knoxville and brother Mat from Atlanta, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Cindy was very proud of her Seneca Indian heritage and was a direct descendant of the legendary Chief Cornplanter, a member of the Heron Clan. Cindy was known to be the life of any party and brought happiness wherever she went. She had a huge heart for everyone and everything in nature especially her "critters", who she also considered family. Her caring nature and bright smile will be sadly missed by her family and countless friends. In the spirit of her giving nature, in our sorrow, she offers hope to others through organ donation. She was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church on Sanctuary Lane in Knoxville. A Celebration of Her Life will be held there on Wednesday February 23, 2005 at 1pm and officiated by the Rev. Jody McKewen of Lake Mary, FL. The family will receive friends after the service. Plans are being made for a service to be held in Limestone, NY and will be announced soon. Lambert, James VC, age 69, of the Rarity Bay Community, Vonore, TN, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005. He was a retired General Manager for New Business Development and International Sales for Mobil Chemical Co., and was a graduate of LaFayette University in Easton, PA. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed wine, antiques and loved travel with his wife. Preceded in death by his parents, Van C. and Isabelle Lambert. McNutt, Ershell J., age 89, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN, formerly of Coldwater, MS, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. A longtime member of First Baptist Church in Coldwater, he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and church clerk for many years. After moving to Tennessee he joined First Baptist Church in Tellico Village. He served in the U. S. Army 100th Division in France and Germany during W. W. II. Ershell was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He worked as a soil scientist for the Mississippi Experiment Station, a real estate broker, and retired from Rural Letter Carriers after 26 years service. He was preceded in death by wife, Inez Quillen McNutt; parents; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
