Maples, Ailene Margaret, age 83, of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Baptist Health Care Center.She was of the Baptist Faith. Ailene was retired from Yale Security. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis D. Maples; parents, Stella Hitson Lindsey and Ike Lindsey; sisters: Mary Lomax, Irene Antic and Nettie Malloy. Survived by her children, Juanita Guider and husband, Benny Wayne of Maryville, Don Maples and wife, Dorothy, Richard Maples and wife, Jay Ann all of Lenoir City; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, Bill Lindsey and wife, Betty of Lenoir City along with several nieces and nephews.

Keith, Frances Katherine, age 90, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday morning, January 16, 2003, at the Baptist Health Care Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City and a retired school teacher with Lenoir City Schools. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Keith; parents, William and Katherine Jackson Malonee; brothers, Eugene and Everett Malonee; sister-in-law, Geneva Keith Jeffries. She is survived by two nieces, Donna McCown of Long Creek, SC and Kay Fortune of Marietta, GA; two nephews, Jim Malone of Chattanooga and Bill Malone of Orlando, FL, along with several cousins. Sams, James Dallas of Kingston, passed away Friday January 16, 2004 at the Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va. He was a former employee of Eaton Yale and Towne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Calvester and Nina Padgett Sams; his wife, Lenis Brackett Sams; brothers, Douglas, Ralph and Harlis Sams. He is survived by his sister, Flois Brown of Lenoir City and a brother, William Clura Sams of Morristown; several neices and nephews. Blackwell II, Harry M., age 61, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Greensburg, PA and Appleton, WI, died at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 17, 2004, following a lengthy, courageous battle against lung disease. Harry was the longest surviving single-lung transplant from the University of Pittsburgh Regional Medical Center. Despite the debilitating disease, he remained upbeat and kept his sense of humor to the end. He was an inspiration to his family and his many friends. Harry was of the Methodist faith and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Farragut. He was born November 11, 1942, in Greensburg, PA, to the late Harry M. and Dorothy M. Blackwell. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1960. He married Gloria Smith, his high school sweetheart. They would have celebrated their 42nd anniversary on January 26. He attended Lehigh University and graduated from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, in 1965 with a BBA in accounting. He received a MBA from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. He was certified by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Institute of Internal Auditors. During college, he worked full time to support his family while continuing his full time college education. From 1965-1968 Harry worked for Arthur Anderson and Co in Pittsburgh as an auditor. From 1968 to 1971 he was employed by the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad in Pittsburgh, as an internal auditor. He worked at Kimberly-Clark Corporation from 1971-1996 in Neenah, WI, Puerto Rico and Knoxville, TN as an internal auditor and corporate accounting/financial/internal control manager. He retired in 1996 for health reasons. Mr. Blackwell was active in the Bethel Park, PA, Jaycees. He was an advisor for the Neenah Public Schools (WI) Co-op program. In Knoxville he served as a director in the Sedgefield and the Greywood Crossing Homeowner Associations. Harry loved his family, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed bowling, golf, shooting pool, and playing cards, especially the challenge of bridge. A priority in his life was nurturing and maintaining friendships with people from all phases of his life. Harry is survived by his wife, Gloria, sons, James (Ivy) Blackwell of Florence, SC; and Jay (Cheri) Blackwell, Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Jason Blackwell of Appleton, WI, and Joan Marie Andrews of Florence, SC. Other survivors include his uncle Jim Lapp, Wheeling, WV; brother-in-laws Frank (Therese) Smith and Ed (Charlene) Smith of Greensburg, PA; Glenn (Mary) Smith of Youngwood, PA; sister-in-law Maxine Smith of Youngwood, PA. and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Bacha Funeral Home in Greensburg, PA. Funeral services for Harry M. Blackwell, II will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday January 21 in the Bacha Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Westmoreland Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. Davis, Betty Jo, age 69, of the Hardin Valley Community Knoxville, departed this life for her heavenly home on Saturday evening, January 17, 2004 at Park West Hospital. Betty was born on March 1, 1934 to Zach and Mary Romines. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Community Baptist Church. Tince was employed at Charles H. Bacon Hosiery for 39 years. Frazier, Joseph, age 71, of Farragut, formerly of the Tellico Village Community, passed away Tuesday evening, January 20, 2004 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice Center. Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois and was a residential builder. He and his wife later moved to Tellico Village where he resumed residential building. He built many homes and served as President of the Home Builders Association of Tennessee, Loudon Chapter. He was also active in Habitat for Humanity. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army in the Military Police. Survivors: wife of 46 years, Donna Frazier; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jack Tennant of Boston, MA, Catherine and Todd Stewart of Rochester, MI, Suzanne and Fred Pree of Vonore, Carol and Tim Anderson of Loudon; grandchildren, Jessica, John, Carrie and Joe; sister, Joan Frazier of Venice, FL. McCall, Wendy Lynn, age 50, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Tulsa, OK and Gainesville, TX unexpectedly went to be with the Lord in her sleep Wednesday morning, January 21, 2004 at her home. Marler, Nicholas Rose, age 65, of Vonore, TN, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, at his home. Nicholas was a retired engineer working with the Department of Energy and the Navy Nuclear Program. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Dorchester Masonic Lodge in Charleston, SC. Preceded in death by his father, William Marler. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Sue Poston Marler; children: Heather Brandeis White of Washington, D.C., Mark Edward Marler of Glastenberry, CT and Sherry Marler Rabon of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Mantha Elizabeth Rabon, Timothy Brandon Rabon, Anson Tobias Marler, Sophia Cecelia Marler and Clara Isabelle Marler; mother, Anne Weaver Broscious and half sister, Tammy Marler Wood. Davis, Robert W., of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon, TN, passed away Thursday morning, January 22, 2004. Robert was born in Defiance, OH and also resided in Cincinnati, OH, Dallas, TX and Tokyo, Japan. He was a member of Central United Methodist in Lenoir City where he sang in the Chancel Choir. Robert was a retired partner with the accounting firm, Price, Waterhouse, Cooper. He taught at the University of Texas at Dallas and Texas Christian University in the College of Accounting and Auditing. He served as a financial adviser with the Dallas Summer Musical. Robert served his country in World War II and was a LT. JG in the Navy. He enjoyed singing barbershop during his time in Dallas and Tokyo. Preceded in death by parents, Bert and Amy Whitaker Davis and daughter-in-law, Julie Davis.
