William Luther (Luke) Patton
William Luther (Luke) Patton, 47, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004.
Remains were at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House.
Services were conducted Friday, May 21 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Neal Glass officiating.
Interment followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Friends served as pallbearers.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Harper Patton; daughters, Kecia (Scott) Hurt and Loren Patton’ grandchildren, Eric Patton and William Hurt; sister, Teresa Kinn; brothers, Rufus Durham, Ricky and Lawrence Patton.

Donovan L. Coofer
Donovan “Wiz” Coofer, 35, of Springfield, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 25 at 1 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Martin P. Winslow officiating.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill.
Mr. Coofer was born March 18, 1969, to the late Alphonso Coofer and Lucille Sherrod-Coofer.
He professed his faith in Christ as a child at First Baptist Church.
Mr. Coofer was educated in Robertson County and was a 1987 graduate of Springfield High School. He was an All Star athlete and attended TSU where his major was engineering.
He was also a lover of poetry.
He was a very dedicated son, a loving father, attentive brother and very devoted and a true friend to the people whose lives he touched.
He found solitude and peace in life in God when things in life weren’t all so kind.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Raymond Coofer.
Survivors include his wife, Sheena Jones; a son, D’Onshuve’ L. Coofer; his mother, Lucille Sherrod Coofer; three sisters, Rita Gail Coofer, Stephanie (Antonio) Bozza of Springfield; Vivian Darden of Arkansas; four nieces, Fatima Coofer, Elena Bozza, Aneka and Carmen Darden; two nephews, Patrick Coofer and Umbreto Bozza; a very special uncle, R.E. Sherrod; two very devoted friends, Nikki Hubbard-Summers and Timothy Dunn and a host of very devoted and loving friends.

Raymond Boyd
Raymond Boyd, 67, of Springfield, died at his residence May 15, 2004.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Washington officiating.
Burial followed in Jane Bell Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Boyd; a son, Kent Boyd of Springfield; a daughter, Rita Bowens of Springfield; two brothers, Eddie Lee Boyd of Nashville, and Ralph Boyd of Nashville; two sisters, Lillian Boyd of Springfield and Catherine Kates of Nashville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

James Robert Edwards
James Robert Edwards, 79, died Thursday, May 20, 2004.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 22 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Larry Marlar and Bro. Steve Marlin officiating.
Interment followed with military honors in Mayes Cemetery in Goodlettsville.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
He was the son of the late James and Pearlie Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Pauline H. Edwards; sons. Gene (Nancy) Edwards and Dennis (Diana) Edwards; daughters, Dottie (Ronnie) Luke and Deanie (Tommy) Hulsey; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Edwards was retired from the construction field, and was a Navy Veteran of World War II.

Jacob Davis Boyd
Jacob Davis Boyd, (infant) died May 17, 2004.
Graveside services were held Saturday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn.
Uncles, David and Tony Boyd served as pallbearers.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Mildred Gupton.
He is survived by mother, Gina Garner; father, Allen Boyd; grandparents, David and Ann Gann, Jewell and Ann Boyd, Michael and Jessie Garner, and a host of other family members.

Lillie Mae Crook
Lillie Mae Crook, formerly of Ruth Street, Springfield, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Eden Pines Assisted Living in Hagerstown, Md., where she was a resident.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 (today) at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville with Rev. Jeff Fryer officiating.
Mrs. Crook was born Nov. 19, 1905, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Alfred and Sarah Binkley Fryer.
She taught school for a total of 38 years, beginning in Springfield and later in Old Hickory before moving to Atlanta, Ga.
She retired from the Atlanta school system where she taught the last 22 years of her teaching career.
The Atlanta Rotary gave a special recognition to her for her dedication to the teaching professional at her retirement as a STARS teacher.
She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and held her membership at the First United Methodist Church in Springfield.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Crook in 1974 and a grandson, Mark A. Boring.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Y. Boring of Boonsboro, Md.; two grandchildren, John M. Boring and wife, Marsha of Hagerstown, Md., and Cynthia Dunn and husband, Dan of Houston, Texas; six great-grandchildren.

Lawrence Neil Owens
Lawrence Neil Owens, 59, of Springfield, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 27 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Owens was born June 8, 1944 in Springfield to the late Lawrence Dale and Anna Johnson Owens.
He was a veteran, having served in the Navy.
He was employed by the City of Springfield in the maintenance department at the Legacy Golf Course and was a member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by; son, Anthony (Amanda) Owens of Clarksville; daughters, Allison Owens of Springfield, Annika Owens of Springfield , Trudi Shearin of Livermore, Calif., Peggy Owens of Citrus Heights, Calif., Jackie Flores of Modesto, Calif.; brother, Howard Owens of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Emily Shearin, Alexis Owens, Michaela Shearon, and Cole Flores.
