James W. Dowlen
James W. Dowlen, 57, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Cedar Hill, died Dec. 29, 2002, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, Springfield, with Rev. Billy Townsend officiating.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Garden in Cedar Hill.
In addition to his parents, William Dowlen and Bernice Ellis Dowlen, he is preceded in death by brothers, Larry O. and Charles T. Dowlen.
Mr. Dowlen is survived by two sons, James D. Dowlen of Louisville, Ky., and Corey D. Baker of Springfield; two daughters, Rochelle (Roger)
Trowell of Louisville, Ky., and Karen Watkins of Springfield; brothers, Joe E. and Thomas L. Dowlen, both of St. Louis, Bobby L. Dowlen of Nashville, Larry O. and Charles T. Dowlen; sisters, Nancy R. Dowlen and Lula C. Tyler of Springfield and Bernice A. Dowlen of St. Louis; five grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

James Albert Nicholson
James Albert Nicholson, 68, of Pleasant View died Jan. 1, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Riggs officiating.
Burial followed in Cheatham Memorial Gardens.
He was born July 4, 1934, in Cheatham County, the son of the late Bob Taylor and Willie Mai Nicholson.
He was a farmer.
Mr. Nicholson was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Nicholson; a son, James Garry Nicholson; sisters, Sally Pearl Hardy, and Shirley Ann Perry, and a brother, Jerry Ray Nicholson.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Spicer (David), of Pleasant View, Sandra Ann Brown (Eric), of Orange City, Fla., Pam Oliver (Jimmy) of Ashland City; sons, Jerry Albert Nicholson (Pam), and Michael Shane Nicholson, both of Pleasant View; brothers, Robert Nicholson Jr., W. H. Nicholson, Billy Wayne Nicholson, J. W. Nicholson, and Paul Nicholson, all of Pleasant View; sisters, Alma Moore of Springfield, Alice Lawson of Pleasant View, and Maydene Pendergraft of Nashville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville was in charge of arrangements.
Evangeline Pauline Schutt
Evangline Pauline Schutt, 76, died Dec. 31, 2002.
Funeral services were held Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home.
Interment followed at Spring Hill Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Kenneth Schutt Sr., and son, Clarence Schutt Jr.
She is survived by sons, Harold William Wright, Andrew K., Herman, and Robert Schutt; daughters, Jessie Bowen and Elizabeth Carroll; a sister, Louise Hill; 34 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
Phillips-Robinson Co. was in charge of arrangements.
Johnny Haskell Bussell
John “Johnny” Haskell Bussell, 77, formerly of Greenbrier, died Dec. 28, 2002, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. in the Forest Lawn Chapel, Goodlettsville, with Dr. Robert Woody officiating.
Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Justin Alexander, Jeremy Bussell, John Pursley, Tim Pursley, Robert Reece, Robert Hall, Jamie Owens and Ron Talley.
Honorary pallbearers were Carlos Watson, Steve Brower, Don Felts, Ron Doss, former employees and retirees of TCT and employees of Earl Dunn Pontiac.
He was the son of the late Henry H. and Pauline Rather Bussell.
Mr. Bussell was an over-the-road driver for Tennessee-Carolina Transportation.
After retirement, he worked for Hendersonville House of Parts and most recently for Earl Dunn Pontiac.
He was a member of Dalewood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda French Bussell.
In addition to his wife, Patricia Geimer, whom he married in 1999, he is survived by three daughters, Saundra Stanley (Tony) of Knoxville, Donna Alexander (Robert) and Dawn Owens (Joey), both of Hendersonville; three sons, Jack Bussell and Jason Bussell, both of Hendersonville, and Jimmy Bussell (Becky) of Murfreesboro; a sister, Martha Ann Alley (Elgia) of Greenbrier; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Joe Robert Moses
Joe Robert Moses died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 6 at 2:30 p.m. from the Anderson & Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Gilmore officiating.
Interment followed in Sumner Memorial Gardens in Gallatin.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Douglas, Robert Douglas, Danny Hudgins, Doug Webb, Larry Blackmore, David Ray Young and Wayne Kirby.
He was a native of Robertson County. He was the son of the late Earnest Zelma and Corrine Thaxton Moses.
He served in the United States Air Force.
He worked 34 years with the Gallatin Housing Authority in Gallatin and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.
His wife, the former Ruby Jean Young, whom he married on Aug. 24, 1956, preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie (Anthony) Jones of Gallatin; sisters, Virginia Douglas of Lebanon, Ruth Doris of Nashville, and Louise Doris of Orlinda; and grandchildren, Courtney and Emily Jones, both of Gallatin.

Miles Wooten
Miles Wilkerson “Mike” Wooten, 49, of Springfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Blackwell officiating.
The interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wooten was born Jan. 6, 1953, in Robertson County.
He was an architect for United States Structures and was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Wooten was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Miles Wooten; mother, Olean Rigsby Roberts; brother, Billy K. Farris; and a sister, Shirley Ann Scruggs.
Mr. Wooten is survived by a brother, James Roy Roberts of Cross Plains; sisters, Velma Jean Adkins of Osceola, Ind., Jeanelle Huggins of Knoxville, Faye Pitt of the Lamont community, Brenda Romero of Denver, Colo., Judy Bunch of Russellville, Ky.; nephew, Richard Lee Roberts of Springfield; and a niece, Angela Jackson of Adairville, Ky.

Juanita Draper Sneed
Juanita Draper Sneed, 75, of Springfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare Center.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. in the Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ken Gillespie officiating.
Mrs. Sneed was born July 20, 1927, in Robertson County to the late Carl and Mary Williams Draper.
She was a homemaker and a United Methodist.
Mrs. Sneed is survived by her husband, Henry W. Sneed of Springfield; sons, Bryan Sneed of Kansas City, Mo., Clay Sneed of Springfield; daughters, Connie Reese of Gallatin, Terri Reid of Charleston, S.C.; brother, James Edgar Draper of Gallatin; and four grandchildren.
