Mildred Elizabeth Neal
Mildred Elizabeth Moudy Neal, 85, of Springfield, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Morningside of Springfield.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the Oakhurst Chapel with Rev. J.C. Greenwell and Dr. Farris Moore officiating. Doris Crawford and Mary Schott rendered music.
Pallbearers were Tony Neal, Brent Neal, Eric White, Taylor Neal, Scott Porter and Lance Hodge.
Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Robertson County, to the late Leonard and Margaret Felts Moudy.
Mrs. Neal retired from Springfield Housing Authority, with 30 years of service, much of which time she served as Director.
She was also a member of Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert “Sonny” Neal, a daughter, Judy Kay Neal, a brother, William L. Moudy and a sister, Lynette Powell.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Lynn and Mary Ellen Neal of Greenbrier, and Charles H. and Margaret Neal of Holly Springs, Miss.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Neal and Bob White of Waynesville, N.C.; a brother, Charles E. Moudy of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Lorene Nelson of Nashville, and Mary Frances Griesbach of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren, Tony Neal, Brent Neal, Mary Beth Hodge, Libby Porter, Julie Heifet, Eric White, Taylor Neal, and Shannon Forrester; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family requests donations be made to Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. All donations may be sent in care of Robertson County Funeral Home, 2201 Memorial Blvd. Springfield, TN 37172.

Jerry Wayne Douglas
Jerry Wayne Douglas, 58, died Sept. 21, 2003.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at the White House Chapel of Cole & Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. James Hubbard officiating.
Mr. Douglas was a veteran of the U.S. Army, holding the rank of sergeant and served as a medic in Vietnam.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mildred Douglas.
Survivors include brothers, George Douglas, Robert Douglas, and Donnie Douglas, all of Springfield; sisters, Cheryl Douglas of Cross Plains, Mary Ann Adcock of Springfield, Mary Ruth Douglas of Mt. Juliet, and Evelyn Rediker of Cross Plains; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Tony Abston
Tony Abston, 49, of Adairville, Ky., died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home, Russellville Chapel with Bro. Carl Freudenthal, Bro. Buddy Crabtree and Bro. Jerry Shelton officiating.
Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Abston was born in Logan County, Ky., June 11, 1954, to the late Jesse Joe Abston and Martha Bailey Abston.
He was self-employed, served in the National Guard and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Baker Abston; three daughters, Monica McLean, Stacey Moon and Lisa Moon, all of Adairville, Ky.; two brothers, June Abston of Adairville and Joe Abston of Portland; six grandchildren.

Nannie Florence Rogers
Nannie Florence Rogers, 76, of Franklin, Ky., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m.
Burial followed in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
A native of Simpson County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George McGee and Annie Jane Poole McGee.
She was a member of Adairville Baptist Church and was retired from the Dana Corporation.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Morgan Rogers.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Rogers, and wife Diane, of Springfield; Jerry Rogers of Franklin, Ky.; three daughters, Maxine Mumford, and husband Tony, of Franklin, Ky., Margaret Ann Creek, and husband Thomas, of Russellville, Ky., and Penny Mayhugh of Morgantown, Ky.; a sister, Christine Summers of Franklin, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joe Elbert Jackson
Joe Elbert Jackson, 78, of Barren Plains, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Springfield.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Davis officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jackson was a retired ironworker.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Springfield to the late Jesse and Gertie Baldwin Jackson.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Ray and Abbiegail Jackson of Cedar Hill and Joe Thomas (Tommy) and Judy Jackson of Barren Plains; three grandchildren, Sheila Woody of Springfield, Billy Joe Jackson of Cedar Hill, Jason Jackson of Springfield; and four great-grandchildren, Brad Woody of Springfield, Clint Woody of Springfield, Ty Jackson of Cedar Hill and Abbie Lee Jackson of Cedar Hill; a sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Bob Russell.
Pallbearers were Harold Estep, Billy Joe Jackson, Mark Johnson, Steve Estep, Jason Jackson and Chris Flake.

Ruth Lowery Johnson
Ruth Lowery Johnson, 91, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Hendersonville Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29 at 10 a.m. with Elder Morris Watson officiating.
Graveside services and interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Goodlettsville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Bud” Lowery and son, Joe Thomas Lowery.
Survivors include her husband, Luther “Bud” Johnson; a daughter, Dorothy Gregory; a son, Phillip (Linda) Lowery; step-daughters, Ruthie Whitaker, Joyce Haynes, Carol Dollar, Cheryl Ingram, Charlotte Price; grandchildren, Connie McMurtry, Linda Gregory, Vonda Hamlin, Darin Lowery, Linda Lowery, Carissa Lowery; great-grandchildren, Bryant Burke, Jim Bob McMurtry, Jamye McGee, and Tracy Gregory.
Pallbearers were Bryant Burke, Darin Lowery, Kevin Hamlin, Jim Bob McMurtry, Kenneth Lowery, Donnie Gillesbie.

Margaret Burch Dorris
Mrs. Margaret Burch (Shorty) Dorris, 79, of Greenbrier, died at her home Friday, July 25, 2003, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27 at the Greenbrier Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Parton officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
She was retired from DuPont.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Maggie Margaret Warren Burch Sr. She was born in Humphrey County on Nov. 27, 1923.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Dorris of Greenbrier; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Ray and Lisa Dorris and Bobby Dale and Sheila Dorris; two brothers, Dorsey Burch Jr. of Waverly and Bobby Burch of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Wilma Little of Waverly and Dimple Burch of Old Hickory; six grandchildren, Landon Shane Dorris, Bryan Clint Dorris, Brent Allen Dorris, Chad Aaron Dorris, Cody Brennon Dorris, Autumn Nichole Dorris; and three great-grandchildren, Paige Dorris, Brandon Dorris and Cameron Dorris.
Mrs. Dorris’ grandsons served as pallbearers for her service.
