Marilyn Sue Nash
Marilyn Sue Nash, 60, of Greenbrier, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating.
The interment followed in Springhill Cemetery in Ridgetop.
Mrs. Nash was born May 30, 1942, in Morgan County to the late Raymond and Vedra Norris Jones.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Mrs. Nash is survived by a daughter, Nancy Fulkerson of East Leroy, Mich.; brothers, Jimmy Jones of Greenbrier and Junior Jones of Indiana; sisters, Freda Jacks of Paris, Jewell Prince of Greenbrier and Faye Batey of Nashville; loving companion, Thomas Griffin of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Mandy McCormick and Tanya Brunner, and three great-grandchildren.

Irene Mae Woodall
Irene Mae Jackson Woodall, 90, of Cedar Hill, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Cunningham and Rev. Troy Rust officiating.
The interment followed in Cheatham Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Woodall was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Davenport, Iowa.
She was retired from Acme Boot Co. and was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Woodall was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Stonewall Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Woodall of Cedar Hill; sons, Charles Jackson of Henrietta, Melvin Jackson and Bobby Ray Jackson, both of Cedar Hill, Clayton Jackson of Adams, Neil Jackson of Springfield, Roy Jackson of Greenbrier; daughters, Mavis Surratt of Hagerstown, Md., Norma Bayliss of Springfield, Glenda Binkley of Pleasant View, and Lynda Harris of Cedar Hill; 35 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Linda Joy Wilson
Linda Joy Wilson, 60, of the Owens Chapel community, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hinkle officiating.
The interment followed in the Owens Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Davidson County to the late Joseph D. and Annie Laura Brinkley Rowlette.
She was a retired Metro school teacher.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Barren Plains Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her sisters, Carrole Benton, Jo Anne Mayberry, and Laura Estep all of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.

Harold Douglas Hall
Harold Douglas Hall, 77, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
The body was cremated.
He was a graduate of Rossville (Ga.) High School in 1945, where he was an outstanding athlete, having been a member of Rossville High’s first State Championship team.
He attended Tennessee Wesleyan College where he played football and baseball, and continued his education and athletic career at Georgetown College.
Mr. Hall was a member of an elite underwater demolition team in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
His entire life was dedicated to sports, whether it be playing golf or coaching Little League baseball team.
Upon graduation from Georgetown, he returned to Rossville, Ga., to work for Walt Lauter, serving as Athletic Director for Youth Programs until 1961.
Mr. Hall was instrumental in the formation of the Rossville Little League and his career impacted many young lives in the area.
He was loved by many. He retired from Peerless Woolen Mills where he served as Personnel Director and since his retirement, has worked part time for Ensign the Florist.
He was involved in several civil organizations, and served on the Walker County Board of Education for eight years and served seven years on the Walker County Tax Assessors Board.
He was a member of Rossville Baptist Church.
He was honored as an All-American catcher when he played fast-pitch softball for Peerless Woolen Mills.
Mr. Hall was inducted into the Chattanooga Area Old Timers Hall of Fame for softball, and the Rossville High School Sports Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Harold Douglas Hall Jr.
Survivors include two sisters, Darlene Light, Mexico, Mo., and Audrey Brady of Springfield; a cousin, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Myrtle Nichols Felts
Annie Myrtle Nichols Felts, 86, of Springfield died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Ridgetop Haven Nursing Center.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Oakhust Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Lord, Wayne Nichols, and Tim Harris officiating.
The interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Felts was born May 27, 1916, in Cheatham County.
She was the seventh child of 15 children born to the late Edgar Bates and Emma Susie Shearon Nichols Sr.
She was a retired LPN from the former Jesse Holman Jones Hospital.
Mrs. Felts was an active member of the Palestine United Methodist Church where she served as historian since 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toney Bell (T.B.) Felts, who died in 1983, and her son, Carols Nichol Felts Sr. who died in 1982, her brothers, William Ray, John Roy and Edgar Bates Nichols Jr., sisters, Lorena Mable Nichols Cox, Alma Modene Nichols Ellis, Callie Blanche Nichols, Ruth Elizabeth Nichols Cotter and Wilma Sue Nichols.
Mrs. Felts is survived by her daughter, Myra Belle Felts Champion and husband, Joel Champion Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Harry Frey Nichols of Murfreesboro, Clarence Ralph Nichols of Madison, George Alph Nichols of Goodlettsville, Robert Wayne Nichols of Cookeville; sisters, Frances Azalee Nichols Thacker of Goodlettsville, Emma Marie Nichols Harris of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Mark Davis Felts and Susan Carlette Felts Pentecost, both of Springfield, A. J. Champion III of Dublin, Ga., Carlos Nichols Felts Jr. of Springfield, and eight great-grandchildren.

Julius Lee Smith
Julius Lee “Joe” Smith, 79, of Springfield died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at the residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. David Leavell and Rev. David Coleman officiating.
The interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville.
Mr. Smith was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Todd County, Ky., to the late Collier Lee and Ines Wilkins Smith.
He was a retired sheet metal mechanic from Peterbilt.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Lee Smith, and by his brothers, Robert and Howard Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Pauline Cobb Smith of Springfield; grandchildren, Patrick Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ryan Smith of Canton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Betty Byrge of St. Augustine, Fla., Jean Carber of Hopkinsville, Ky.. Roberta Copple of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Kathleen Gann of Jefferson City.
