Pauline Barton Jenkins
Pauline Barton Jenkins, 82, of Lafayette died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Elm Hurst Nursing Home in Springfield.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Elder Greg Dunham officiating.
The interment followed in the Butler Cemetery.
Mrs. Jenkins was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Macon County to the late Clarence and Clara Gregory Barton.
She was a retired factory worker for Genesco and was a member of the Union Camp Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hooper Jenkins.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Neil Ward and Pauline Jenkins of Gallatin, James Barton and Georgia Jenkins of Castalian Springs, Bennie and Sue Jenkins of Atlanta, and Michael and Cindy Jenkins of Lebanon; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and David Greer of Springfield; a brother, Carroll Barton of Lafayette; sisters, Christine Rhodes of Red Boiling Springs, and Frances Williams of Pleasant Shade; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Julius Lee Smith
Julius Lee “Joe” Smith, 79, of Springfield died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at the residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. David Leavell and Rev. David Coleman officiating.
The interment followed in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville.
Mr. Smith was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Todd County, Ky., to the late Collier Lee and Ines Wilkins Smith.
He was a retired sheet metal mechanic from Peterbilt.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Lee Smith, and by his brothers, Robert and Howard Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Pauline Cobb Smith of Springfield; grandchildren, Patrick Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ryan Smith of Canton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Betty Byrge of St. Augustine, Fla., Jean Carver of Hopkinsville, Ky., Roberta Copple of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Kathleen Gann of Jefferson City.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Springfield Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Alive Hospice of Nashville.

Myrtle Nichols Felts
Annie Myrtle Nichols Felts, 86, of Springfield died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Ridgetop Haven Nursing Center.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Oakhust Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Lord, Wayne Nichols, and Tim Harris officiating.
The interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Felts was born May 27, 1916, in Cheatham County.
She was the seventh child of 15 children born to the late Edgar Bates and Emma Susie Shearon Nichols Sr.
She was a retired LPN from the former Jesse Holman Jones Hospital.
Mrs. Felts was an active member of the Palestine United Methodist Church where she served as historian since 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toney Bell (T.B.) Felts, who died in 1983, and her son, Carols Nichol Felts Sr. who died in 1982, her brothers, William Ray, John Roy and Edgar Bates Nichols Jr., sisters, Lorena Mable Nichols Cox, Alma Modene Nichols Ellis, Callie Blanche Nichols, Ruth Elizabeth Nichols Cotter and Wilma Sue Nichols.
Mrs. Felts is survived by her daughter, Myra Belle Felts Champion and husband, Joel Champion Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Harry Frey Nichols of Murfreesboro, Clarence Ralph Nichols of Madison, George Alph Nichols of Goodlettsville, Robert Wayne Nichols of Cookeville; sisters, Frances Azalee Nichols Thacker of Goodlettsville, Emma Marie Nichols Harris of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Mark Davis Felts and Susan Carlette Felts Pentecost, both of Springfield, A. J. Champion III of Dublin, Ga., Carlos Nichols Felts Jr. of Springfield, and eight great-grandchildren.

Charles Raymond Graves
Charles Raymond Graves, 75, of Goodlettsville, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Tennessee Christian Medical Center.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery with Larry Graves officiating.
Mr. Graves was born March 26, 1927, in Robertson County to the late Luther and Lela Ethel Reed Graves.
Mr. Graves was a retired construction worker.
He is survived by his wife, Floy Hatfield Graves of Goodlettsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Samuel Bernhardt and Shelia and Michael Wood all of Atlanta; sister, Inez Porter of Goodlettsville; grandchildren, Heather and Jennifer Bernhardt and Christine and Austin Wood, both of Atlanta.

Chester Strange
Chester Strange, 75, of Nashville, and formerly of Robertson County, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
The interment followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville.
Mr. Strange was born June 3, 1927, in Robertson County to the late George and Rosa Lee Rice Strange.
He was a retired painter and a member of North Springfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Strange was a veteran of the U.S. Army Marine Corps Reserve, with service in both World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of the VFW Post 9851, in Hendersonville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Strange and by his sister, Darlene Maxwell.
Mr. Strange is survived by his wife, Linda Jackson Strange of Nashville; a son, Melvin Strange of Pegram; daughters and son-in-law, Janice and Steve Weathers of Pleasant View; step-sons, Johnny Brock of Florida, and Carl Brock of Nashville; a brother, Richard Strange of North Carolina; sisters, Margaret Walker and Louise Jetmore, both of Nashville; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.

Charles Webb Finger
Charles Webb Finger, 67, of Springfield, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Centennial Medical Center.
Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home.
Mr. Finger was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Lincolnton, N.C., to the late Grady and Margaret Williams Finger.
He was a retired credit manager with State Industries in Ashland City.
Mr. Finger was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Goin Finger of Springfield; daughters, Teresa Atchley and Karen Griggs, both of Lincolnton, N.C.; a step-son, David Fagg of Birmingham, Ala.; a step-daughter, Susan Bilbrey of Pikeville; a sister, Margaret Hester of Lincolnton, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Nell Cornwell and Jean Griffin, both of Franklin, Ky.; and eight grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to the Nashville Humane Society.

Shirley Ann Shoulders
Shirley Ann Shoulders, 67, of Adairville, Ky., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Dean Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Marsh and Bro. Bill Cowan officiating.
The interment followed in the Red River Cemetery in Adairville, Ky.
Mrs. Shoulders was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Logan County, Ky., to the late Paul and Goldie Sircy Wilson.
She was a retired waitress and a member of the Adairville United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Melisha Ann Shoulders, and by her sister, Geraldine Scott.
Mrs. Shoulders is survived by sons, Paul Shoulders of Cedar Hill, and Jason Shoulders of Adairville, Ky.; daughters, June Hyatt of Cedar Hill, Becky Ball of Clarksville, Gayle Shumake of Chapmansboro, and Robin Henderson of Adairville, Ky.; a brother, Weston Davis of Adaiville; sisters, Barbara Thompson, Betty Warden, and Alice Rayno, all of Adairville, Ky., and Brenda Adams of Panama City, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
