Mary Thelma Nicholson
Mary Thelma Nicholson, 72, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Gateway Medical Center.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Mallory Cemetery in Thomasville.
Mrs. Nicholson was born in Sumner County Aug. 4, 1930, to the late John Otis and Bessie Mallory Lame. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Paul Nicholson.
Survivors include a brother, James A. Lame of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Algie Mae Harris of Lascassas, and Helen Hall of Portland.

Genevieve Ruth Hamby
Genevieve Ruth Hamby, 93, of Springfield, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Moore Cottage in Springfield.
Mrs. Hamby was conveyed to Canandaigua, N.Y., for burial in the West Avenue Cemetery.
She was born May 7, 1909, in Canandaigua, N.Y., to the late Alfred C. and Jennie Louise Cummings Lathrop.
She made her home in Canandaigua until 1996, when she moved to Robertson County to be near her daughter.
Mrs. Hamby was a member of the First Congregational Church in Canandaigua, N.Y.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Andrew B. Jones Jr. of Adams; grandchildren, Jennie Justice and husband Jeffrey, of Springfield, Laura Gibson and husband David, of Alpharetta, Ga., Andrew B. Jones III and wife Alisa, of Adams; and five great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Moore Cottage at 205 Lawrence Lane, Springfield, TN 37172, or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Middle Tennessee, 4004 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 219B, Nashville, TN 37215.

Hervey Clay Sanders
Hervey Clay Sanders, 69, of Adams, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 3, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Crouch officiating.
The interment followed in the Adams Cemetery.
Mr. Sanders was born July 22, 1933, in Robertson County to the late Thomas Hervey and Gladys Odell Watson Sanders.
He was a retired service station operator and a member of the Adams Church of Christ.
Mr. Sanders had a great love for softball. He coached many teams that won several state, local and national championships.
Mr. Sanders is survived by an aunt, Annie L. Stainback of Adams; many cousins and extended family.

Margaret Louise Madden
Margaret Louise Madden, 87, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Elm Hurst Nursing Home.
Graveside memorial services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. in the Bethel Cemetery in Henrietta with Bro. Chester Morrison officiating.
Mrs. Madden was born April 29, 1915, in Davidson County to the late James Homer and Nettie Holcomb Graves.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Madden was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Madden Sr., her son, Larry Eugene Madden, and a daughter, Ramona June Madden.
She is survived by her sons, William Edward Madden Jr. of Franklin, and Robert Allison Madden of Springfield; daughters, Margaret Frances Rogers and Dorothy Clarice Madden, both of Springfield; a sister, Mary Ruth Hill of Madison; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Magdelene Cowan
Mary Magdelene “Mag” Cowan, 75, of Adairville, Ky., died peacefully Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Dean Funeral Chapel in Adairville, Ky., with Pastor Bill Cowan and Sister Margaret Bomar officiating.
The interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery.
She was born April 16, 1927, in Logan County, Ky., to the late Weston and Berdie Cleo Burton Sircy.
She was a retired business owner and former member of the Adairville City Council.
Mrs. Cowan was a member of the Living Word Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Wayne Cowan.
She is survived by her husband, James Harold Cowan of Adairville, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jack Porter of Nashville; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ann Sircy of Russellville, Ky.; sisters, Ailene Wooden and Jean Edwards, both of Adairville, Ky.; a grandson, Bart Coker.
Pallbearers were Bob Hardin, Barry Sircy, David Sircy, Robbie Scott, Larry Scott, John Wooden, Thomas Hardin, Jerry Sircy, Weston Davis, Leslie Sircy, Jackie Holland, Henry Bomar and Harold Page.
Dean Funeral Chapel of Adairville, Ky. was in charge of arrangements.
Truman Wells Cook
Truman Wells Cook, 97, of Springfield, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 3 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Gordon Hawkins officiating.
Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
He was born March 16, 1905, in Logan County, Ky., to George Washington and Blanche Butt Cook.
He was a retired farmer and former owner and operator of White House Feed Mill
He was a member of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and a deacon and former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by wives, Marie Anderson Cook and Stella Groves Cook.
Survivors include nieces and nephews and several close friends; and step-children, Sybil Anthony of Pensacola, Fla., Ron Anderson of Nashville; and several step-grandchildren.
Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Joan J. Holman
Joan J. Holman, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Chapel with Dr. Bob Jared and Rev. Jack Oden officiating.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, L.J. Holman; two daughters, Julie Estes, Janice (Barry) O’Kain of Nashville; a son, Paul Holman of Cross Plains; two grandchildren, James Taylor of Nashville, Phillip Taylor of Cookeville; a great-grandson, Aiden Kennedy Taylor of Nashville; two sisters, Norma Jean Blaylock of Goodlettsville, Martha Lee (Virgil) Asplund of Tustin, Mich.; two brothers, Herbert (Gwen) Jared of Knoxville, and Billy K. (Eva Faye) Jared of Goodlettsville.
