Robert L. Carlisle
Robert L. “Bob” Carlisle of Elizabethton, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Life Care Center in Elizabethton.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton.
The interment followed on Jan. 31 at Grindstaff Cemetery.
Mr. Carlisle was the son of the late N.W. and Dovie Parks Carlisle.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Grindstaff Carlisle; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Larry Woods of Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Rhonda Carlisle of Hendersonville; a brother, James L. Carlisle of Gallatin; two granddaughters.
Memorial Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Helen Louise Tarpley
Helen Louise Tarpley, 56, of Waverly, formerly of Springfield died Jan. 29, 2003.
Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Humphreys County Funeral Home in Waverly with Rev. Lloyd Doyle, Rev. Mark Warren and Rev. Doug Knisley officiating.
Burial followed in Richlawn Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Robertson County to Louise Robertson Branch of Springfield and the late Lacy Branch.
In additon to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Ted Tarpley of Waverly; a daughter, Crystal Tarpley of Martin and Waverly; and a brother, Steven Branch of Springfield.
Humphreys County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Adam Brandon Burr
Adam Brandon Burr, 22, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Greenbrier with Bro. Donnie Bryant officiating.
Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Burr is survived by his wife, Tiffany Branham Nichole Burr; a daughter, Anna Belle Burr of Greenbrier; mother and stepfather, Judy and Terry Thomas of Ridgetop; father and step-mother, Ron E. and Cheri Burr of Goodlettsville; sisters, Tracy Huffines of White House and Jill Burr of Goodlettsville.

Susie Lee Starks
Susie Lee Starks, 53, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Greg Palmer officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Miss Starks was born Dec. 23, 1949, in Robertson County to the late Earl and Lena Mae Knight Starks.
She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Livis Starks, Vernon Starks and James Starks.
Survivors include a brother, J.W. Starks of Cedar Hill; sisters, Mossie Cooksey of Cedar Hill, Stella Starks of Springfield and Margie Palmore of Cedar Hill.
The family requests donations be made to the Red River Baptist Church.

Melba Lois Tolleson
Melba Lois Tolleson, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 15 at Red River Baptist Church with Bro. Chuck Cato and Bro. Doug Downey officiating.
Interment followed in the Red River Cemetery.
Mrs. Tolleson was a retired educator with the Robertson County School System where she taught for more than 23 years.
After retiring from the classroom, she was the business manager for Robertson County Board of Education at the Central Office for 23 more years.
She was an active volunteer with the Senior Citizen Center in Springfield.
Mrs. Tolleson was a member of the Red River Baptist Church for over 50 years where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.
She was born in Linden, Tenn., Aug. 22, 1917, to the late Elbert and Eugenia Harder Ary. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Kermit Ary and Keith Ary.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice Tolleson of Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Uliana Tolleson, Bert and Anita Tolleson, all of Adams; a brother, Hammond Ary of Waynesboro, Tenn.; a sister Mavis Borthick of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Karen Jean Elliott Hernandez, 34, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. John Maltis officiating.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 21, 1968, in Clarksville.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ray Elliott.
She is survived by her husband, Candido Hernandez of Stroudsville; daughters, Cierra Jean Hernandez and Samantha Jean Hernandez of Stroudsville; mother, Peggy Jean Elliott of Stroudsville; a sister, Kim Angel of Stroudsville; brothers, Tim Elliott and Mike Davis, both of Stroudsville.

Sarah D. Vaughan
Sarah D. Vaughan, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 21 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Dr. Fred Baldwin officiating.
Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Vaughan was born May 3, 1915, in Logansport, La., to Paul F. and Roberts Stubbs Daniel.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Brandon Vaughan.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Vaughan of Nashville, and Ginny and Ron Bollinger of Greenbrier; two grandchildren, Jennifer Pleszkoch and Linsey Bollinger and a great-grandson, Henry Pleszkoch.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
