Mary Elizabeth Farmer
Mary Elizabeth Lee Farmer, 91, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Elmhurst Nursing Home.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Farris Moore, Rev. Paul Purdue and Rev. Don Hutchinson officiating.
Interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Farmer was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Robertson County to the late Norman and Mary Savage Lee.
She was a member of New Chapel United Methodist Church, the Love Circle, and was an avid supporter of Boy and Girl Scouts.
Mrs. Farmer was a beautician and co-owner of Donello Beauty Shop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Madison Farmer, sisters, Flossie Browning and Odell Margiotta.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip Jerry and Rachel Farmer of Springfield and Joe Mac and Dora Farmer of Springfield; grandchildren, Anne Miller Farmer Stott, Phillip Jerry Farmer Jr., Carol Elizabeth Farmer Braun, Byron Lee Farmer, and John Samuel Farmer; eight great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to New Chapel United Methodist Church or to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Glenna Murphy Stuart
Glenna Murphy Stuart, 72, died Feb. 26, 2004 at Flowers Hospital, in Alabama.
Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29 at Highland Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Gerald Casson officiating.
Mrs. Stuart was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Stephensburg, Ky., and lived the early years of her life in Adams.
She resided in Atlanta for several years before moving to Dothan, Ala., in 2002.
She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Percy Stuart.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Tammy Stuart, of Dothan, Ala., Charles and Kathie Stuart of Clarksville; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Tim Graham of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Curtis Stuart of Anchorage, Alaska, Charme Stuart and Christina Stuart, both of Atlanta, Laura Stuart of Mobile, Melissa Graham of Valdosta, Ga., Marcus Stuart of Atlanta; two sisters, Doris Giuliano of Elizabethtown, Ky., Leota Toole of Lousivlle, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were the Faith Hope and Love Sunday School Class.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 South Park Ave., Dothan, Ala. 36301.

Lisa Renea Dorsey
Lisa Renea Dorsey, 38, died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Bro. Mickey Austin officiating.
Burial followed in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
Mrs. Dorsey was born in Nashville Dec. 9, 1965 to the late James Auther and Mary Pearl Spires Nelson.
She is preceded in death by her brother, James William Nelson; sister, Peggy Davis.
Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her husband, Tony Curtis Dorsey of Springfield; sisters, Betty Ann Stanley of Springfield and Judy Carlene Anders of Nashville.
Austin & Bell Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Jones Covington
Nancy Jones Covington, 77, of Cross Plains, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 1 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Lowery and Rev. Tommy Baker officiating.
Interment followed in Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mrs. Covington was born in Cross Plains Oct. 15, 1926, to the late David Arthur and Callie Cook Jones.
Mrs. Covington was named Tennessee Area Teacher of the Year in 1970, and received the award for Outstanding Vocational Teacher of the Year in 1982, and 1983, as well as serving as Advisor for the National Future Homemakers of America for these years.
In 1983, she received the distinction as being named the Tennessee Teacher of the Year and received the Outstanding Service Award from the Tennessee Vocational Association and an Honor Award for Merit Teacher.
She was a life-long active member of the National Education Association.
In 1998, Mrs. Covington received recognition for one-half century of devotion, service and loyalty to the U.T. National Alumni Association.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Covington.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Cairnes of White House; granddaughter, Nancy Carol Evans; grandson, James Brent Cairnes; and great-grandson, Joey Evans.
Pallbearers for the service were Ronnie Head, Mark Stubblefield, Gerald Head, John R. Dorris and Ronnie Fuqua.

Raymond Junior Bowen
Raymond Junior Bowen, 55, of Springfield, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 2 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Merle Wix officiating.
Burial followed in Bellwood Cemetery.
Mr. Bowen was born in Michigan Jan. 25, 1949, to Wilson Ray Bowen of Springfield and Lena Mae Reynolds Bowen of Nashville.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Bowen and a sister, Betty Traughber.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include sons, Raymond Bowen and Jeff Bowen; daughters, Tracy Pitt and Samantha Wilson; brothers, Robert Bowen, Jimmy Bowen, Billy Bowen, all of Springfield; sisters, Barbara Xander of Mullica Hill, N.J. and Lavon Birchfield of Portland; grandchildren, Brandon Pitt, Kayla Pitt, Megan Pitt and Caylan Wilson, all of Springfield; a special friend, Wanda Emmerson of Springfield.
Pallbearers were Raymond Bowen, Jeff Bowen, Brandon Pitt, Terry Johnson, Eddie McAllister and Jeremy Beerman.
Austin & Bell Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

Hattye Wilson Head
Hattye Wilson Head, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004.
Services were held on Sunday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Joe Rushing and Bro. Kenneth Wayne Head officiating.
Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Head was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ and a volunteer at the Jesse Holman Jones Hospital and NorthCrest Medical Center, serving 8,328 hours.
She was also a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years.
Mrs. Head was born in Robertson County May 3, 1908, to the late Charlie T. and Martha Harper Wilson.
Her husband Clyde C. Head Sr. also precedes her in death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clyde C, Jr. and Elaine Head of Hendersonville; grandchildren, David Clyde (Tracy) Head of Hendersonville, and Dana Elaine (Billy) Bass of Gallatin; great-grandchildren, Sam and Ben Head of Hendersonville, and Elizabeth Bass of Gallatin.
Pallbearers for the service were Dorris Head, Don Head, Jerry Head, David Head, Carroll Chambliss, Billy Bass, and Gene Ward.
Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.
