Patricia Abston Breynaert
Patricia Abston (Pat) Breynaert, 72, of Mt. Juliet, and formerly of Springfield and Melbourne, Fla., died at her home Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Tim Williams officiating.
Burial followed in Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Springfield March 6, 1931, to the late Louie Marshall and Maggie Ester Ledbetter Ferguson.
Mrs. Breynaert was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, and a son, Terry Doyle Abston.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald G. and Phyllis Abston of Blacksburg, S.C., Tommy G. and Lisa Abston of Lakeland, Fla., Tony L. Neese of Melbourne, Fla., Paul S. Neese of Melbourne, Fla.; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra G. Garrett of Hendersonville, Judy and John Grooms of Mt. Juliet, Tammy J. Ulrey of Melbourne, Fla., a sister, Lois J. Ferguson of Nashville; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Gervis Cordell Pryor
Gervis Cordell Pryor, 80, died Jan. 28, 2004, at his residence in Springfield.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Cole & Garrett Funeral Chapel with Bro. Clay Baggett officiating.
The interment followed at Bethany Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs.
He was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Red Boiling Springs.
He is preceded in death by his children, Junior Cordell Pryor, Dennis Clay Pryor, Roger Dale Pryor and Cathy Ann Pryor.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Pryor; daughters, Peggy L. Vea, Edith A. Hardman; a brother, Vernal Pryor; sisters, Louise Crowder and Fay Bradley; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Lera Covington McLeod
Lera Covington McLeod, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Janice McLeod Fuqua.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 30.
She was born Nov. 15, 1912, at home on a farm in Robertson County.
She was the fifth of 10 children.
She graduated from Middle Tennessee State, where she was the outstanding senior student.
She received a masters degree in library science from Peabody College.
She was founder and owner of Valley Drapery and Rug Company in Homewood for over 30 years. Her company later merged into Birmingham Wholesale Furniture Company, where she was Secretary-Treasurer.
She was a long time member of Independent Presbyterian Church. She was also an avid gardener.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald O’Brien McLeod.
Survivors include her siblings, Susie Austin of Springfield, John M. Covington of Cross Plains, Verna Head of Hendersonville, and Francis Larrick of Cookeville; two sons, Thomas Ronald McLeod and David Covington McLeod; a daughter, Janice McLeod Fuqua; and grandchildren, Kelley McLeod Tynes, Lera Anne Fuqua, William David McLeod, Ronald Alistair McLeod, and Daniel Scott Fuqua.

Ollie Thomas Kelley
Ollie Thomas Kelley, 66, of Portland, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Howard Welch officiating.
Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in White House.
He was born Aug. 7, 1937, to Brady and Bessie Mae Lamberth Kelley.
He was retired from Ryder Truck Lines.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Pearson of Portland; a daughter, Karen Reed of Kent, Wash.; two step-daughters, Cindy Peterson and Teresa Fletcher; two step-grandsons, Bryan Lempea, Brandon Lempea; two sisters, Kay (Richard) Singleton of White House, and Linda (James) Civils of Westmoreland; two brothers, Joe (Jo Sharon) Kelley of White House, and Kary (Connie) Kelley of White House.

Ludean Williams-Ayers
Ludean Williams Ayers, 69, of Nashville, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Skyline Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at Bethesda Original Church of God, Nashville, with Bishop George Price officiating.
Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Madison.
Mrs. Ayers was the first born child to the late Oliver Williams and Alberta Shotwell, on May 3, 1934, in Morris Chapel (Hardin County).
She was baptized at an early age and dedicated her entire life to Christ and to her children. She began working in church at an early age where that work continued throughout her adult life until her health failed.
She attended Nashville State Technical Community College and Tennessee State University. She worked for years in the nursing and insurance industry.
She later operated a men’s boarding home through the state of Tennessee.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Evolve T. Ayers, a daughter, Lolita Ayers and a son, Larry Darnell Ayers.
Survivors include four sons, E. Thomas Jr., Jerry, Malcolm (Mary) and Oliver Ayers; a daughter, Beverly Ayers; two devoted and special friends, Nancy Blakemore (who gave endlessly of herself in taking care of Ludean), and James Neil McKnight; two devoted grandsons, Jason Woods (who gave unselfishly of himself in making his grandmother comfortable during her illness), and Nakeith Ayers; other loving grandsons, Antonial and Eric Knight, Andre Stewart, Malcolm Ayers Jr., and Michael Tolbert; granddaughters, two devoted, Chiquita Knight and Miciah Ayers; other loving granddaughters, Jerrica and Jerresa Lewis, Antronette Ayers, Malcole Ayers, and LaJohnda Sparkman; and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Mattie) Brashers; four sisters, Mae Ella Kendricks, Bessie (Joe) Anderson, Martha (James) Derrick, and Virginia Brashers; an aunt, Berlean Cartwright; two sisters-in-law, Estella Hill and Lula Mae Hurt; 12 nephews, one devoted John D. Ayers; 12 nieces; devoted cousins, Willie Wardlow, Clara Kinnon, Bernice Manley, and Willard Shotwell; special friends, Betty Cammon (friend of 54 years), Jerelene Long, Bertha Shelton, and Dorris Gilbert; a host of other relatives and friends, too many to mention.

Isabell Strain
Isabell “Big Mama” Strain, 86, of Cross Plains, died Jan. 24, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Cross Plains, with Pastor Keith Jackson officiating.
Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Cottontown.
Mrs. Strain was born July 17, 1917. She attended school in Robertson County.
She professed hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at Howard’s Chapel Church, and later moved her membership to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She served as an usher and later joined the Mother’s Board where she served until her health failed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Huerl “Big Daddy” Strain, and a daughter, Odella Strain Armstrong.
Survivors include a son, Arneal (Kimberly) Strain of LaVergne; three daughters, Emma (Roy) Steger, Bernice (Eddie) Beach of Nashville, Sue (James Terry) Groves of Cross Plains; a god-grandson, Mitchell Smith of Nashville; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lockey D. Utley and Emma Jean Randolph of Goodlettsville; four brothers, R.D. (Sylvia) Williams, Fletcher Williams of White House, Jodie Williams of Springfield, L.C. Williams of Franklin, Ky.; three sisters-in-law, Odessa Bell, Pauline Turner of Nashville, Effie Payne of White House; dear friends, Emma B. Groves, Gwendolyn Redmond, Sherree D. Redmond, Yolanda (Michael) Tucker, William (Yolanda) Redmond; special devoted friends (eating buddies) Paul and Diane Bell and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters of Friendship Baptist Church.
