Corolla Young Darden
Corolla Young Darden, 85, of Springfield, died at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 29 at Serenity Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Ray Dean Fisher officiating.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill.
Mrs. Darden was born Jan. 20, 1919, to the late William T. Young and Lillie Maude Caldwell Young.
She grew up in Robertson County and attended school in Robertson County.
Survivors include a son, William R. Tyler of Inkster, Mich.; a daughter, Dorothy J. Black of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Thelma J. Tyler of Inkster, Mich.; a loving and devoted sister-in-law, Elizabeth Epperson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a host of nieces, nephews, and several dear friends.
Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Whitlow
Myrtle Whitlow, 87, of Adams, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at NHC Healthcare Center.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, Jan 23 at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gardens with Rev. Doug Downing officiating.
Mrs. Whitlow was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Robertson County, to the late Jewell and Callie Stultz.
She was a retired seamstress from Wilson Sporting Goods and was a member of Red River Baptist Church.
Mrs. Whitlow was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Whitlow.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Diane Whitlow of Adams; a sister, Mary Jo Elliott of Huntsville, Ala.
The family request memorials be made to Red River Baptist Church.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Austin
Gerald W. “Jerry” “Bubba” Austin, 56, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and formerly of Robertson County, died Friday, Jan. 16 in Lakeworth, Fla.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. in Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mr. Austin was born Dec. 19, 1947, to the late Gene E. Austin and Virginia Stack Austin.
He was a carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Floyd E. “Eddie” Austin.
Survivors include daughters, Annette Sheets of Ohio and Sabrina Pitts of Tennessee; a brother, Rick Austin of Florida; sisters, Sherrie Abruscato of Florida and Tammie Austin of Tennessee; and five grandchildren.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Mantlow
Wanda W. Mantlow, 72, of Cedar Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Herbert officiating.
Interment followed in Bellwood Cemetery in Adams.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Ray Mantlow of Detroit, Mich., Joe Phillip Mantlow of Cedar Hill, James Ray Mantlow of Springfield and Bobby Joe Mantlow of Lincoln Park, Mich.; daughters, Brenda Faye Adams of Adams, Donna Marie Collins of Cedar Hill, Angela Marie Miles of Hermitage, and Rhonda Faye Hollis of Adams; brothers, Clarence E. Williams and Raymond Williams, both of Knoxville; sisters, Evelyn Mantlow of Augusta, Ga., Barbara Sutton of Knoxville, Ruthie McGee of Knoxville, and Juanita Cook of Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Bilbrey
Roy Kenneth Bilbrey, 70, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hinkle officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
He was born Aug. 1, 1933 in Jackson County to the late S.J. and Vera Carnanhan Bilbrey.
He attended Barren Plains Baptist Church and was a movie projectionist for over 20 years and a retired courier for Lab Corp.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Talph Bilbrey.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Sue Bilbrey of Springfield; sons, Kenneth Jeffery Bilbrey of Goodlettsville and Timothy Alan Bilbrey of Smyrna; a daughter, Deborah Sue Pulley of Springfield; a brother, Ralph Bilbrey of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

George Spivey
George Lhyman Spivey, 76, of Orlinda, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 at Milldale Chapel with Pastor Walter Deweese officiating.
Interment followed in Orlinda Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Simpson County, Ky., to the late Arlo Brandsford and Cora Gladys Neal Spivey.
He was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Franklin, Ky.
He was retired from Ford Motor Co. in Indianapolis, Ind., as a job setter and served as fire chief in Warren Township, Ind. Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of Simpson Benevolent Lodge, 177 Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, Scottish Rite, York Rite and a member of Eastern Star.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Donna F. Joslin, brothers, Arlo Spivey Jr., and Ryme Spivey and a sister, Mary Novell Spivey.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Spivey of Orlinda; a daughter, Connie K. (Jon) Cazee of Mesa, Ariz.; brothers, Jackie Spivey of Portland, Roger Spivey of Orlinda, and Billy Spivey of Franklin, Ky.; sisters, Helen Clayborn of Springfield, Mable Redferrin of Cross Plains, Margaret Warren of Portland, Diane Wix of Cross Plains, Linda Seabolt of Springfield, Wanda Tate of Orlinda, Ann Carter of Orlinda, and Betty Hodges of Portland; grandchildren, Brad Cazee and Kellie Roberts; and three great-grandchildren.
Milldale Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

John D. Gant
John D. Gant, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28 with Rev. Sandy Shawhan officiating.
Interment will follow at White House Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gant was preceded in death by his wife, Jean W. Gant and brother, Roscoe Gant.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Gant Marsh, Dorothy Evelyn Gant, and Teresa Jean (Randy) Bunch; step-sons, Raymond Weeks, David and Brian Gant; brother, Ernest Gant; sisters, Gladys Gregory, Christine Parsley, Sadie Hornberger; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other special friends.
Austin & Bell Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
