Lucy B. Doss
Lucy B. Doss of Ashland City, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Bro. Kelly LeBlanc officiating.
Burial followed in Springhill Cemetery in Nashville.
She was born April 15, 1923, in Central City, Ky., and was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Harris Sigers and Tabitha Creek Sigers, and a son, Kenneth Boggess.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Doss of Ashland City; sons, Ronnie Whitmer, Danny (Mary) Boggess, and Christopher Doss; daughters, Carolyn Cripps, Judy Vorchota, Teresa (Daryl) Skelton, and Janet (Edward) Lemley; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and sons-in-law.
Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Percy E. Dunn
Percy E. Dunn, 43, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003. He was a native of Springfield and had resided in Hephzbah, Ga. for the past seven years.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m., Nov. 22, at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Chapel with Rev. Walker officiating.
Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Narshekia Cole of Clarksville; mother, Hattie Boyd of Hephzibah, Ga.; two brothers, Paul Dunn and Richard Dunn, both of Hephzibah, Ga.; devoted friends, Aaron (Buttaball) Williams and Lisa Garrad, both of Springfield; a host of cousins and friends.
Clarence Newt Suter
Clarence Newt Suter, 85, of Greenbrier, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Springfield.
Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Gardens in Springfield with Bro. Ricky Suter officiating.
He was retired from the Baptist Sunday School Board, and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Mr. Suter is preceded in death by a brother, Leo Suter; sisters, Mary Suter Spain and Annie Margaret Wright.
Survivors include a niece, Barbara Suter Henderson; nephews, John Marshall Suter of Greenbrier, Norman Wright Jr. of Texas, James “Buzz’ Wright of Texas, and Ernest “Butch” Spain; a host of other family members and friends.
Ronnie Dale Mitchell
Ronnie Dale Mitchell, 53, died Dec. 5, 2003.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at Hermitage Church of the Nazarene.
The interment followed at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
He was the son of the late Fletcher and Virginia Brooksher Mitchell.
He is also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of Hermitage Church of the Nazarene and a retiree of C. B. Ragland Company.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Mitchell of Mt. Juliet; a son, Dustin Kyle Mitchell of Mt. Juliet; a brother, Horace Mitchell of Springfield; a sister, Gerry Faye Babb of Ashland City.
Active pallbearers were Horace Mitchell, Kelly Carter, Phillip Carter, Larry Carter, Jason Babb, Harold Dempsey, M.C. McKinney and Chris Washer.
Honorary pallbearers were employees and friends of C.B. Ragland Company, Tapestry Sunday School Class, Dr. Alan B. Sandler and Dr. Eugene Winters.
Memorials may be made to Compassionate Ministries at Hermitage Church of the Nazarene or to the American Cancer Society.
Jesse “J.C.” Garrett
Jesse “J.C. Garrett, 86, of Springfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Ashland City.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Bethesda Church of God with Elder Robert Childress of Mt. Pleasant Church of God.
Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield.
Mr. Garrett was born Jan. 17, 1917, to the late Elvis and Armenta Garrett.
He received his education in Robertson County school system.
He was licensed as an embalmer and funeral director in 1951. He worked with Austin & Bell Funeral Home for 37 years.
He united with the Original Church of God at 14th and Phillips Street (now Bethesda), where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board until his health failed.
He loved to fish.
Survivors include his wife, for over 50 years, Viola Crutcher Garrett; two brothers, U.H. (Bertha) Garrett and Bob Garrett; two brothers-in-law, William Crutcher and Luke Jones; seven nephews; six nieces; two godchildren, Glen Armstrong-Bridgewater and Herberene Blair; several grand-godchildren; dear friends, James Elliott, James Armstrong, O.T. Sanders and Maxine Shannon.

Kathryn L. Dowlen
Kathryn L. Dowlen, died at birth, Nov. 8, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Cross Plains with Rev. Buise McKissick and Rev. Billy Brown officiating.
Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery in Cross Plains.
Survivors include parents, Michael A. Dowlen and Amanda F. Dowlen; grandparents, Linda Denton, Billy (Joani) Brown, all of Portland, Michael Dowlen Sr. of Cross Plains, and Gloria (Freddie) Moore of Orlinda; three sisters, Alexadrea Rickman, Kayla Dowlen, Ajaiona Dowlen, all of Springfield; a host of aunts, uncles and very devoted friends and family.

Bobby L. Turner
Bobby L. Turner, 67, of Springfield died Nov. 6, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church in Springfield with Rev. Randy Taylor officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Cottontown.
He was born in Cross Plains Sept. 17, 1936, to the late Monday and Mary Lou Turner.
He received his education at Friendship School in Cross Plains.
He united with Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later joined Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Male Chorus and Trustee Board.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Pattie Turner of Nashville, Ernestine (Duncan) Taylor of White House; three sons, James L. Turner of Cross Plains, Paul (Michelle) and Bobby D. Turner, both of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his wife, Shelvie; two step-daughters, Angela (Ronnie) Utley and Damita Utley; two step-sons, Adrian Utley and Andre Utley, all of Springfield; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; very devoted friend, Rex Turner; two sisters, Gerine Garrett of Louisville, Ky., Shirley Wilson of Springfield; a brother, Lural M. Turner of Hartsville; mother-in-law, Annie May Croney of Springfield; brother-in-law, Samuel Croney; sister-in-law, Cora (Bobby) Finch; and a host of other family and friends.
